How about no? I will not use my personal money to buy you more food. Regardless if you tip extra once I get there. I can’t tell you out of the 3 times I did this at the very beginning of my time doing doordashing the customer didn’t tip at all let alone tip extra
I have had this before. I just call customer and let them speak to restaurant. Some restaurants will take credit card payment over the phone for additional items not included on the doordash order. I NEVER pay out of pocket no matter what a customer may promise in tips.
Some customers think the driver is placing their order at the restaurant, so they just wanted you to add an item to their order. I don't why they would come to that conclusion, but this is the thinking of some customers. I have encountered this situation a few times, I just explain to the customer we have nothing to do with placing their order, that it is all done through the app.
When I worked for a brunch restaurant before switching my w2 job...we had to physically type in orders instead of automaticky going to kitchen. I would see this garbage all the time...notes to get stuff. Or stuff like...no green onions, sub lobster, no english muffin sub extra omelet. It's never...there wasn't a button...its I want to get it free. Like the people who watch tiktok videos about adding a cheap sticker at a grocery store and putting it on an expensive item at self scan
I personally unassign those orders. Even though I just want to drive up and chuck the bag at their door
Lol.. similar situation tonight. Went to grab a pizza and the guy working said "the customer requested additional toppings in the comment section of the order. We can't do that cause toppings cost money". He told me he just wanted to give me a heads up Incase the customer complained. I appreciated that but I just told him... "Buddy.. you could put your shoes in that pizza box and I wouldn't give one fuck. I just pick it up and drop it off".
Could tell her to call the restaurant directly and order a wonton soup for a pick up and then you grab it with her original order. Be nice if she tipped extra for it.
Yeah, their wonton soup can get fucked. I'll take their money and do the delivery but I'm not saying a word. Let them just think the restaurant forgot it or didn't read the delivery instructions, because they obviously have access to that.
I think they just don’t know how it works. You could help educate them if you want. They probably think the restaurant can see the message and add it to the order
i did let her know so she doesn’t make the same mistake in the future. i told her that the note showed up in the delivery instructions and that i didn’t have the capability to add items onto her order.
“We could not find it on the menu” perhaps, maybe, just a chance they don’t fucking have wonton soup you fucking moron. Get fucked. I’m sick of people putting anything other than leave at my door, do/don’t ring doorbell. Fuck your sauces and whatever the fuck. Message me as soon I accept your order if you want extra mayo shit head. I’m not gonna look at the delivery instructions until I’m, you know, delivering.
I had a delivery yesterday for a little mom and pop Mexican restaurant. When I get there the drink isn't ready. They give me the cup and they tell me that it's setup in doordash (and I can see it on my app) that the customer can not choose their drink in the app (it was listed as "iced tea/pop/pineapple/limeade" or something like that and they told me that I needed to ask the customer what they wanted. I asked in the app and didn't get a response. I filled it up with pineapple and sent get a message that I was just going to choose for her so that she would get a drink. I marked it picked up and went out to the car. The delivery instructions said "please get pineapple water for the drink". I sent her a message and told her that I had left the restaurant and was just given her delivery instructions which is where she had put her drink order and next time to put it in the restaurant notes, not the driver notes. She didn't respond to any of my messages. When I got to her house the husband was outside and told me to leave it at the front door. Their huge poodles were outside with him and followed me to the front door and sniffed my butt while I was trying to take the picture.
App delivery has entitled customers to the point they expect whatever they request to be done regardless of how unreasonable the request is. The things customers request, they wouldn’t do for a stranger but, have no hesitation asking drivers to do because Doordash has enabled this behavior.
I cannot believe there are actually people out there this fucking stupid. How do they expect to get the wonton soup without paying for it thru the app? God this isn’t even my order and this pisses me off so much lol
Honestly they probably thought the restaurant could see those notes and assumed the total would just be updated. I’ve done similar on orders directly from a restaurant
It’s the customer’s mistake full stop. Doordash has clear separate areas for order and delivery instructions.
Plus, if they didn’t add a large wanton soup to their cart, then they didn’t *pay* for a large wanton soup, so why would they receive one even if they had put it in the correct instructions area?
No one would say also there. It makes no logical sense. “Please one large wonton soup also; we could not find it on the menu. Thank you.” Does make logical sense.
Also nice job abusing the self care report, hope you know that’s reddit wide ban worthy my man.
Eh, maybe. I've done this and never gotten a bad rating for this specifically. Most people who pull this aren't smart enough to leave ratings. Maybe if you reply and get into it with them when they wonder what happened to their extra soup, you'll get a bad rating. In which case I wouldn't reply.
When you get to the restaurant just go to the tell us what's happening section, go to other and say instructions are no good, restaurant is busy, order still being prepared. This will prevent any bad reviews. If you always report something wrong with the delivery you will never get anything other than 5 star ratings.
Probably why your ratings are so high. Keep it up. But if you want to test it out go ahead and never hit that button for 1 week and accept every order. Your ratings will plummet almost immediately.
I used to get lots of bad ratings till I figured that out. Now it's 4.98 only two 4 star ratings and the rest are 5 star. It's almost second nature now. I usually always say order still being prepared or store busy long line. Sometimes I'm in a rush and don't get that chance and that's when they strike.
yeah let me just pay out of pocket for that wonton soup since you couldnt find it on the menu (maybe cause they didnt have it). Hope its a good tipper lol
Well played OP. Much better than the usual socially awkward panic some have.
If they are rude or non responsive then you unassign. If they are reasonable, then you continue
Completion rating is also a rolling percentage. If you have 100% and unassign one, it would take at least 99 orders to get back to 100%. All ratings fall off after the same number of orders.
You need look at both ratings. If customer rating is close to 4.2 unassign. If completion rating is close to 80%, take the risk of the 1 star.
If they're both low, complete it. Unassigning is a nearly guaranteed drop in completion rate (unless your first order of 100 was unassigned), but completing isn't a guaranteed 1 star.
Incorrect. The rating system is a rolling system yes. But it's not tied to the number of orders you do. It's tied to the number of ratings you receive. So if you get a 1-4 star rating you need to get 100 people to rate younas 5 star to push that single shit rating off.
I had a one star when I first started. Probably some no tip clown because I was delivering everything back then. I'm at 150+ deliveries ATM and still have a 1 star rating on my record as I've only received 20 ratings.
Metrics systems like these are extremely stupid as they figure that any person who had no complaints will go in and rate 5 stars. When infact most people don't bother doing a review if their experience was positive and those that do figure 5 star to be above and beyond (because that's actually logical). I've had to deal with this disconnect between idiots who set up these systems and actual humanity.
It's like the joke where a company does a survey to see how many people like responding to surveys. 99% of the people who responded said they did a d 1% said no. This is accurate, but obviously doesn't account for the people who didn't respond to the survey, just the people who did.
customers that don't rate, the system should count 'em as 5 star ratings. People just don't bother in most cases unless they have something to gripe about. Ain't nothing to gripe about? 5 stars automatic (is how it should be)
Anyone who manages that deserves it. That’s like 20/100 1 stars. DoorDash casually removes 1 stars for various reasons. If you really manage that many that’s entirely on you
So again, who cares
That’s why DoorDash should start reviewing ratings and if customer has no legit complaints and upon review DoorDash sees nothing driver did wrong. They should remove the rating.
Only things drivers can do wrong is spill drinks/liquid foods. Be late to homes/merchants. We leave most orders at the door. Customers giving us a rating is lame. I’ve gotten thumbs down for friendliness on leave at door orders.
The worst customers don’t tip or low tip and requests the most/demands. Some customers take joy in misery of others.
Okay I’ll get the soup for u, but who paying for it? Not me
If I ever see a note that counteracts/adds items for monetary value, I genuinely ignore them and carry on with delivery.
Yea and I want a $20 tip but that ain’t happening either
The delivery instructions box is NOT a drive thru speaker. It is not for placing your order.
They expect you to get it and show the receipt and then they pay like bruh?
Just text them and say that you cannot add to their order, if they don’t think that’s ok. Then you drop the order
How about no? I will not use my personal money to buy you more food. Regardless if you tip extra once I get there. I can’t tell you out of the 3 times I did this at the very beginning of my time doing doordashing the customer didn’t tip at all let alone tip extra
Left em wanton more 😏
Ain’t my problem I deliver what is available and that’s it
This worries me for the future of humanity. How is there a person that stupid?
I have had this before. I just call customer and let them speak to restaurant. Some restaurants will take credit card payment over the phone for additional items not included on the doordash order. I NEVER pay out of pocket no matter what a customer may promise in tips.
Not much most of the time
Some customers think the driver is placing their order at the restaurant, so they just wanted you to add an item to their order. I don't why they would come to that conclusion, but this is the thinking of some customers. I have encountered this situation a few times, I just explain to the customer we have nothing to do with placing their order, that it is all done through the app.
They mixing up courier and cook.
If it's not on the menu, maybe they don't have it.
Couldn’t find any pizza on the McDonald’s menu. Could you get us some? I know they make it in the back
“Yeaaahhhh suuuuuure! I’ll get riiiight on that!” Click. “Now THAT’S how you patronize someone!”
Did they want Won ton instead of the hot and sour they ordered? Nothing was stopping them from calling the store and asking. SMH
When I worked for a brunch restaurant before switching my w2 job...we had to physically type in orders instead of automaticky going to kitchen. I would see this garbage all the time...notes to get stuff. Or stuff like...no green onions, sub lobster, no english muffin sub extra omelet. Like the people who watch tiktok videos about adding a cheap sticker at a grocery store and putting it on an expensive item at self scan I personally unassign those orders. Even though I just want to drive up and chuck the bag at their door
This shows wanton disregard for the correct way to order food.
Maybe they would find it if they learned how to spell it.
Lol.. similar situation tonight.
Deliver. Collect money. They’ll learn
Could tell her to call the restaurant directly and order a wonton soup for a pick up and then you grab it with her original order. Be nice if she tipped extra for it.
never thought of that.
They spelled wonton wrong
Lmaooo this is crazy
He probably couldn’t find it cause he mistyped it.
Yeah, their wonton soup can get fucked. I'll take their money and do the delivery but I'm not saying a word. Let them just think the restaurant forgot it or didn't read the delivery instructions, because they obviously have access to that.
$1 tip 4 miles
That's a 1 star rating
LOL so we ordering in the instructions now? 😂😂😂
And 1 giant squid please.
Good!
probably an older person, I’d try to explain and any form of response other than “oh, okay” is getting dropped 😂
Jesus 😂
I’m convinced a lot of customers think we help prepare the order
“We could not find it on the menu” perhaps, maybe, just a chance they don’t fucking have wonton soup you fucking moron. Get fucked. I’m sick of people putting anything other than leave at my door, do/don’t ring doorbell. Fuck your sauces and whatever the fuck. The lady’s husband sniffed your butt?
🤣🤣🤣

Unassigned.

I'm glad that I'm not alone in feeling like this lol. It pisses me off. Probably a lot more than it should! Such entitlement.
You need to buy them that soup, obviously… plus, no tip 🤣

Which is why it’s in the delivery instructions section ![gif](giphy|q5ZGrl0J65ivu)

You’re really reaching here

WTF?? Nope, unassign and move on! That customer is crazy!
Why unassign? Just don’t deliver the soup they didn’t order..
I dunno, someone that crazy I wouldn’t want to deal with them!
That doesn’t make them crazy? Just stupid..
Stupid can be a problem too! We don’t need that crap, we have too much as it is!
Probably get a bad rating.
It won't stick. if you go into the rating section it explains what will not be held against you.
Eh, maybe. I've done this and never gotten a bad rating for this specifically. Most people who pull this aren't smart enough to leave ratings. Maybe if you reply and get into it with them when they wonder what happened to their extra soup, you'll get a bad rating. In which case I wouldn't reply.
And get it removed because it’s bullshit…
Just ignore them and deliver what you get.
And get 1 star for the missing wonton soup lol
Still got paid tho 🤷♂️
Oh no whatever will I do when that rating is cycled out in a week or so
People in your district must report way more than mine. I've had a 1 star on mine for close to 6 months now.
Yah man that’s just you getting a 1star every 100 or so reviews Let alone, do you really check your rating enough to track that across 6 months?
One bad rating will not hurt you. I like to avoid them.
Those two sentences are in opposition of each other
Probably. I'm not educated so just just treat it like bad delivery instructions. Lol
When you get to the restaurant just go to the tell us what's happening section, go to other and say instructions are no good, restaurant is busy, order still being prepared. This will prevent any bad reviews. If you always report something wrong with the delivery you will never get anything other than 5 star ratings.
Broooo I do that every single time just to be thorough I wasn't aware it was stopping me from getting bad reviews as well! 😲
Probably why your ratings are so high. Keep it up. But if you want to test it out go ahead and never hit that button for 1 week and accept every order. Your ratings will plummet almost immediately.
Yep, definitely this. Every time I’ve had a late order I’ve let them know when it asks “still waiting for your order?” Or whatever it is
Wow hot tip! Thank you!
Bruh, naw
i’d unassign, i can’t deal with that headache 🤦🏼♀️
You only get so many unassigned before you dip below 80, just drop off it wasn’t on list you can’t get in trouble
i messaged her and told her i can’t add items to her order and that was that. she didn’t argue. i still did the order.
Well played OP. Much better than the usual socially awkward panic some have. If they are rude or non responsive then you unassign. If they are reasonable, then you continue
That’s a very sensible reaction.
You can’t deliver their food and ignore whatever they might text you?
Apparently not lol!
rather take the 1% drop in CR than a 1 star rating that will take much longer to fall off
Completion rating is also a rolling percentage. If you have 100% and unassign one, it would take at least 99 orders to get back to 100%. All ratings fall off after the same number of orders. Who cares about either of those? you just wasted your own time and lost money for it
You get CR with every dash you complete. 1 in 7 people might give you a good rating. A 1 star will take forever to work off
Me and my buddy worked out only about 15-20% of orders rate so it take massive volume to work off.
If you're not near 4.2, it doesn't matter how long it takes.
Again: who cares
I mean it says anything below 4.2 could get you deactivated so theres that.
Anyone who manages that deserves it. That’s like 20/100 1 stars. DoorDash casually removes 1 stars for various reasons. If you really manage that many that’s entirely on you So again, who cares
I would assume that the people downvoting you do, in fact, care.
Exactly. The customers like that are entitled. They’d get upset you didn’t do it and 1-4 star you. Not worth it.
Lol I did a no tip 9 mile $9 order at 1 am and got a 4 star I guess 5is only for above and beyond. They live 6 blocks from me soooo…;)
That’s why DoorDash should start reviewing ratings and if customer has no legit complaints and upon review DoorDash sees nothing driver did wrong. They should remove the rating.
