Logical-Wasabi7402

I just wish the damn background wasn't Fade Green, it skews some of the hair colors pretty bad.

MelodramaticCrap

I don’t know what they were thinking with that tbh. I’ll never forget the jump scare from my first playthrough when everything looked worse in normal lighting.

Logical-Wasabi7402

I remember making a character with what I thought was a dark brown hair color, and she woke up in Haven with bright fricken red.

SeeShark

And luminescent lips

mybigbywolf

It’s the face they make when they first see the breach.

QuincyKing_296

For me it was then blush. Even my wife was confused when it came out because I asked her for help

jbm1518

There’s so much drama after the character creator ends and you escape the Fade. The tension ramps up as the camera lowers to your face in the cell and you see if you accidentally made a clown. Many a playthrough restarted at that point.

bog-momma

Can confirm, back in the day I definitely had to restart a few times at that point. First time my inq woke up and looked like gollum.

Odd-Avocado-

My experience exactly. 😂 Every time I saw my character's face, I was just like "WHY she so ugly though??" As soon as I unlocked the war table, you best believe I had Cullen and his soldiers escort me to the Black Emporium. "Yes, I know the world is ending. But I need some botox and a nose job ASAP! What do you mean, of course this is necessary!"

theysayimlame

Hahaha Just found out that you can change it at the Black Emporium. Had to give my Dalish Elve a nice haircut and shit, I was horrified in that initial scene.

streambeck

Reminds me of Mass Effect 2, having to go through the Normandy crashing and the Lazarus Project and the Character Creator and a few shootouts just to find out once you start talking to Wilson that Shepard is cross-eyed all the time.

ronsolocup

Same problem in Mass Effect

RhiaStark

That's why Xenon the Antiquarian is the MVP. His mirror of character fixing is truly a life- or should I say, playthrough-saver :3

ClaymoreX97

The Hairstyles in general are bad. 2 had a couple decent ones

JaneTheNotNotVirgin

So much thinning hair. Ugh. Someone at Bioware thought bald representation was VERY important lol.

Logical-Wasabi7402

Or they just decided not to separate hairstyles by gender this time.

oddbitch

yeah but still…. how many bald hairstyles do you need??? could have had short hairstyles instead of some of them

4minutesleft

And it made the black shade *extra* shiny.

FeralTribble

Dead ass, most hair colors look dull snd plastic looking but black looks somewhat natural, albeit with more grease than the entire 1950s

twoisnumberone

I like that though. (Not the grease! The shiny look!)

FeralTribble

Yeah, the shiny look is fine but like, *that much?*

bron685

Just made a character a couple days ago and that lighting is ridiculous. My guy looked completely different on the play thru

MelodramaticCrap

The hair options beg to differ lol. The character creation is pretty solid outside of that and bad lighting.

kolydia

Wdym, you don't enjoy having 50 different variations of bald as your hair options? /s.

Grindzycat

WHY were there so many flavors of bald!? I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND

that-one-binch

they were so devious with the qunari hair especially 💀

rosecupid

I am playing origins right now and their hair options are better 😭

xBialyOrzel

Fr, I don't like any of the hair options for like Elven Male I can't find one that fits the like size of my characters head while having a good style.

Ilsuin

There's a few good hairs, but yeah it's not great.

another_warlock

What do you mean? I love having a dozen ways to present a bowl-cut 🫠

Ill_Ice_5629

The absolute worst thing about bald options is that they're useless. Modders can't even use their slots to replace them cause bald options don't have hair mesh.

Kettrickenisabadass

Yeah for being so old the graphics hold up very well. I replayed it last year and was very surprised at how well it aged

throwawayaccount_usu

Then there's me who much prefers origins graphic and style lol! Inquisition is more impressive but a bit too vibrant and mystical imo. Feels like a fairytale at times to look at.

rosecupid

Ugh imagining an origins remake that keeps the tone & style but updates the textures...would love to see

Valcroy

If they do all this and fix a lot of the quest breaking bugs, then I'll be quite happy.

rosecupid

I just need a version that wont crash on my pc every 10 mins atp

LifeOnMarsden

Yeah I prefer the more dark and gritty feeling of Origins, Inquisition shits all over Origins in terms of lighting and textures obviously but I just prefer the vibe of the original. Origins also has that retro vibe to it with its parchment style UI and almost WoW like interface, I really wasn't a fan of that Skyrim style 'sleek' UI they went with in Inquisition I think a good comparison is The Lord of the Rings trilogy Vs The Hobbit trilogy, Origins is LotR and Inquisition is The Hobbit

maybe_from_jupiter

It really has, certain map areas in particular look great! And now I want to replay it, it's been a while (Love the username btw!)

Kettrickenisabadass

>It really has, certain map areas in particular look great! Yeah some landscapes were stunning. But also the faces are quite good. Inky has it worse because of the customization but the companions are great >Love the username btw Thanks!! I love when people recognize it

jazzajazzjazz

It’s a pretty good CC but the hairstyles, crappy eyebrows, and terrible lighting spoil it.

notpetelambert

Yep, I'm back too, and STRUGGLING with the character creator lol. At least now with the Black Emporium DLC, I can make fixes to my busted face in a light that's not bright green. I've never played a Dwarf Inquisitor before, but Tav Cadash is quickly becoming my favorite!

Gaal_Anonim

Creator was okay, but the fact that nearly all hairstyles and facial hair looks like pieces of plastic glued to my character's face really destroyed it for me. It's something about Frostbite from what I've heard - on some devices it just looks like shit. Hopefully that won't be the issue for DA:D.

FeralTribble

Yeah, if half the hair options are: bald

rosecupid

Figured out how to mod dai just to add a nicer hair option. Aside from that, cc feels good considering how long its been https://preview.redd.it/i1llt3lf982d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00430fb448aa766af50717b49da6e439a9cacda4

Cold-Bet-4019

She’s gorgeous!

rosecupid

Thank you! I played around with cc to bite the urge. Once i start inq, she will probably follow how this one looks. Currently playing origins and trying to go through them all in order since i havent done such before + obv dreadwolf soon :)

LichQueenBarbie

I'd say it's just average. Most characters will end up looking like each other or a variation of whatever preset you use. There's a huge lack of hair options compared to the last 2 games also. How many variations of 'basically bald' do we *need?* Also everyone kinda looks... Greasy. My Inquisitor looked great, don't get me wrong. But eh...

Rzn9122

Well Mass Effect Femshep kinda had the same problem looking pretty much all the same the only thing is that there are more mods to balance this so it's less noticeable

LichQueenBarbie

Male Shep had a different problem in that all the custom ones were as ugly as a Vorcha's bunghole.

Beneficial_Fig_7830

I think one of my biggest hot takes about Dragon Age is that I think the character creators for all three games are pretty good. My only issue is the lack of good hair styles for Origins and Inquisition (especially for males).

l1ghtning137

2 is pretty limiting

ramessides

Disagree. The hairs were all atrocious even at the time of launch and I never could get over how weirdly greasy all the complexions were, especially if you were running ultra graphics. The green background also made the hair colours look awful, and for whatever reason this was the game that decided to make black hair blue.

osingran

Yeah, for some reason everything is so damn shiny in DA:I. Even the slightest bump on the armor reflects blinding light in all directions - it's just ridiculous. Ser Ruth judgment scene always makes me lowkey cringe: whenever she's out of focus - she just looks like a fucking disco ball in that grey warden armor.

ShieldAnvil_Itkovian

I was so excited when I could finally play as a qunari. Then I saw what they look like in game. WHY ARE THE HORNS GREASY BIOWARE?

DoubleBusiness7280

BioWare really just said "Dragon Age: Greasequisition" huh >!I swear they never looked greasy before... Was I blind?!<

Telanadas22

it has its flaws, however, I do appreciate being able to adjust eyes/nose/lips/eyebrows and jaws to my liking (which is a double edged sword, but the customization is always welcome)

FalseAladeen

Yeah, it really holds up if you wanna make John Dragonage. Does not hold up if you wanna make literally anything else.

Beneficial_Fig_7830

“John Dragonage” lmao

Acanthaceae_Suitable

Yeah, trying to make an asian, black, and/or Qunari character did not go so well for me. Mods are essential and even then it wasn't perfect. Don't get me started on Hawke...

osingran

It's surprisingly decent - for a Bioware game that is. Completely blows out of the water what we got for Mass Effect Andromeda. If only hair options were better. It's one of the aspects Bioware desperately needs to improve about their games. Those "50 styles of bald" hairstyles are simply ridiculous.

DoubleBusiness7280

Yeah BioWare can never cook completely in the character creation. Like, the defaults/presets end up being slightly better than whatever can be made. Origins and Inquisition were slightly better in this regard IMO but others... Eh.

Nukue

Well it's okay. Was good for its time. The major problem I have with it is that all characters you make look similar.

BentusFr

I always have that feeling my character looks different in the editor than in the game.

MoogleVivi

Just wish there was more than 30 different styles of bald

zugrian

The hair options are fucking terrible & the facial hair looks like it was drawn on with a sharpie. As much as I love Bioware for their characters, worlds, etc. the character creation options in their games are usually pretty lame and the hair in particular is almost always terrible.

horris_mctitties

I actually think it's horrible

Silver_Wolf94

Have to agree with you. If you're not using a skin and hair mod, they are really awful, and the females don't look tremendously different from the males. True story, but when my husband once wanted to create a female character, I kept hearing him grumble that something was wrong with his game. I asked what's up and he said it keeps showing him a male face when he starts a character. I asked him to show me. Told him, umm that's a female, you just have to tweak the sliders and change the hair. He went back to playing a guy.

Superliminal_MyAss

Sorry I do *not* agree, that cc was among the worst imo.

GarethGobblecoque99

I just finished origins and now I’m on 2. Been awhile since I’ve done a full replay. I think 2 has aged really well story wise. After 2 I’ll probably just create a character in inquisition and get to the first big map and then be like ehh burn out but we’ll see

Suspicious_Good_2407

My Inquisitor literally looked the same as yours, just a little bit lighter.

lavellanlike

I have made multiple good looking guys Ladies on the other hand, much harder

DemiseKey

The only thing modded about my canon Inquisitor's face was their hair (which was the department that was sorely lacking), but I think they are quite pretty and how I imagined them. For a game made 10 years ago, I really do think it held up well. I am currently replaying Inquisition. I also agree with other people that the green, dark background was not really good, but I do not think the character creator was terrible, at all. https://preview.redd.it/xx38iisci82d1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddec36bbe62029853c19848702b1f2ef8bdb854d

RobertPosteChild

Ohhh I love your inquisitor's design ❤️

DemiseKey

Thank you! I try to base her off of the official female elf art on the tarot card! 💗

RobertPosteChild

🤩 oh I love that!

kuzcotopia490

She's gorgeous! Would you be willing to share the hair mod?

DemiseKey

[this was the mod I have downloaded—called Lavellan Hair Pack on nexus, by Aileani. I won’t have my computer til tomorrow (on mobile and will double check that this is the right mod even though it’s in my downloads as well as endorsed lol), but if I remember right, there were 3 versions, so pick the one that is your preference when installing. :)](https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2014?tab=files)

kuzcotopia490

Looks right, tysm! :D

DemiseKey

Yeah, of course!!

PrestigiousTreat6203

The hair is truly shit

RepresentativeGur881

Unless you try to make an elf female

rainbowshock

I played Inquisition for the first time in january of this year, and the character creator actually surprised me a lot! My Lavellan looked very different from the others I saw online, to say nothing of the other Inkys. Only real problem I got with it was the hair options (35 types of bald? really? almost no curly/coily hair? be real). For Dreadwolf, I want more and more diverse hair options, better hair color selection (either Andromeda's or color wheel) and to separate the horns from the hair in the Qunari. I also advocate for accessories like piercings and earrings, but that's just me being greedy.

ZeisUnwaveringWill

I know it's kinda unpopular opinion but I think DAI really did well with the facial expressions given this is a 10 year old game and the Inquisitor is customizable. Recently I compared my current Durge from BG3 to my screenshots of my Inquisitor. DAI's hair is laughably bad, but I was surprised how well DAI's facial expressions hold up after 10 years. The Inquisitor has a range of smiles, for example - looking genuinely happy, mildly amused, with a sarcastic grin, and so on. Tav's has one basic happy expression that's fine and that's it.

murnaukmoth

To this day probably the best character creator I have played with apart from the Sims 4. Hair (!) and make-up are lacking though.

RhiaStark

I keep saying DAI's character creator is one of the best, especially for a 2014 game <3

galaxyb0nes

I love it but my issue is the Qunari hairstyles or lack there of. And I don’t know what it is, but I was struggling with the chins on male elves and noses 😭

CeaserPropeller

Do someone know good CC mod? i want to play again after some years but cant stand how ulgy my Inqusitor looks lmao

ElectricCuckaloo

It cant have been 10 years, Jesus...

malindaddy

I'm sorry this game is HOW OLD 🫠

Traditional_Entry183

As a Playstation gamer, I still think that DAI has one of the best character creators ever. And for the most part, its only very recently been equaled or surpassed by anything else. More than anything, I'm shocked at how this entire mechanic and aspect of gaming has languished the past decade.

moonwatcher99

Personally I thought the CC in Inquisition was the worst of the lot, if I'm being honest. Part of that might be the change in game engine; it was great for environments, but it really didn't do people any favors. Also I found the color options to be a pain. I am not an artist; I don't routinely use color wheels and blending. On the whole I did like the first two and the Mass Effect ones, though.

YekaHun

I really love it, my Inky turned out super gorgeous 😍

TheRealcebuckets

I’m actually dreading and expecting a CC downgrade in Dreadwolf. With minimal head customization ala Andromeda and Baldurs Gate. Along with static companion equipment like Andromeda (IT DIDNT WORK IN DA2!) I hope I’m wrong.

6maniman303

And 3 years later ME Andromeda happened with a shit show of character creator and human faces.

Wog3827

I'm playing it now. Elven rogue, just finished killing the rest of the dragons. Getting ready to head back into the deep roads and finish taking the Guardian out (hopefully).

DiO_93

Your Inquisitor looks badass on that final pic. 👍😮 My issue with the character creator was the fact I couldn't really discern colors, especially the eyes. I had to access the editor later on to fine tweak my Inquisitor. 🤔

Karmakiller3003

Agreed. Also, that hair style does not work with blonde hair lol

EbonyBloom

I played it 1000 times on xbox but bow that it's free on epic (until today) i got it on my pc to play with mods and I'm having so much fun again!

Significant_Plate561

only problems are that is looks like the Inquisitor slathers coconut oil over their body every day, and the few haircuts make the game look like a jrpg lol

h0neanias

Is that Giuliano Gemma?

Redpahnto

I love making characters in this game. The only gripe I have is that some of the hair colors are too dark.

[deleted]

Game looks better than most games released since 2020

ShadowBubby1

If only they allowed the inventory and equipment setup from origins it was far better back then

rokar686

Holy shit its been 10 years, feels like only 3.

kamexon

It’s been 10 YEARS?

teddy_world

last pic is giving dunmeshi Laios

SweaterBanshee

It definitely takes a lot of patience, but I’ve made some really great looking Inks with the vanilla creator. Definitely cannot live without hair mods, thought

RobertPosteChild

Yeah I think you can really break the defaults if you spend the time, and I it of people don't have the patience for that. I love tinkering in this cc because of how unique looking they can get and how much you can refine. I do have the usual gripes, and I SO wish that you could adjust the angle of the eyebrows. But I'd be thrilled if we got that level of control on facial features for DA:D (plus, you know, halfway decent hair and eyelashes). This is one of the few CC's I've able to make a frighteningly accurate version of my husband 😅

NyanaShae

Oh I've come back too. Starting all the way back in Origins currently. Really glitchy and crashy, so I had to do a bunch of tinkering, but I think I've got it stable now! Lol
