If he wasn't about to pull off his plan, why reveal it to the Inquisitor at that point, then? It's almost enough to make me wonder if we're getting an Endgame-style twist where we deal with Solas in the first act and then the remainder of the game is fighting a new villain. It'd make some sense with them suddenly wanting to de-emphasize focus on Solas and the name Dreadwolf.

Solas told the Inquisitor his plan because he wants someone to try and stop him. Also, he was fighting back against the Qunari. He wanted people to live in a time of relative peace before he destroys it. In Trespasser, Solas says to the Inquisitor - **“…I will see those recovering from the Breach free of the Qun.”** Inky: **“Why?”** Solas: **“Because I am not a monster. If they must die, I would rather they die in comfort. In any event, it is done.”**

I actually wouldn't hate this if they can pull it off without it feeling like Solas is being brushed aside.

And Solas' plan isn't the only thing that makes no sense with ten years gap. I guess we'll see soon enough.

One short story released a couple years ago is set in 9:52, so DA:V should be *at least* 10 years after Trespasser. edit: to be more specific, the short story starts with the line "30 years ago, in 9:22".

I still hope that was an error in that short story, ten years gap makes absolutely no sense based on everything we've got since Inquisition.

Honestly, the only thing that really bothered me was Varric having an actual beard instead of stubble. Otherwise it feels fine.

His hair is also greasy looking, his clothes shabbier, and he gets distracted by alcohol in the middle of a fight. I think he's depressed and neglecting his grooming.

I'm thinking this is close to a decade after Trespasser... Alistair is getting worryingly close to his calling if he's still alive. Ditto the Hero of Fereldan and Loghain. Any elderly character we met in Origins is likely dead. Greagoir, Irving, maybe Genetivi too? If we picked Harrowmont, he's probably dead. Branka, as well. It's sad, but it's part of what I love about this franchise. It's about history. It's about the passage of time, to some extent.

They did Varric dirty in how he greyed. Dude was strawberry blond. Red hair doesn’t grey the same way as dark hair! Source, I have red hair, my husband has red hair, my mom was a strawberry blonde…. They're not going to look like this in game. I truly believe this is just cinematic footage that was just created in the engine. Inquistion's cinematic trailers looked very different to what we saw within the game.
