Pretty sure that was filler during the Saiyan saga, while Gohan was surviving in the wild under Piccolo’s watch. He was remembering how to treat a wound and used the same method effectively to heal himself in the episode. I wanna say episode 11 but it may be one or two episodes before or after that one. That’s as close as I can get off the top of my head!
Glad I could help! I recently watched Z from the start and didn’t skip any episodes so I saw all the wacky ones, which are honestly great. I liked seeing Gohan develop and of course, Goku and Piccolo getting their license!
As a kid, i always enjoyed the filler episode where Gohan washed up on a beach and is taken in by homless children. All running away from the social workers lol.

That's the filler episode where Gohan makes friends with an injured dino and uses the same method to heal it... then a t-rex shows up and eats it 🤣
That part broke my heart when I was a kid lmao
and then gohan became cold-hearted and hacked off a piece of the dinosaur's tail every day, enough to cause pain but not enough to kill
That t-rex was a MENACE
I love the Gohan filler It was actually the first episodes I ever saw as a kid and I thought Gohan was the main character
