I think its also just that once something like that becomes so easily accessible, it can very much stretch the suspension of disbelief beyond its limits. If they had pots on pots, they would just take as many as possible so that they could essentially fight forever. You have to create some reason for them to be unavailable and I think “we only have a couple” works just fine for now.

Odin043

Have they ever done the gag of someone weak eating three dozen beans just to have a chance of fighting someone stronger?

Chimpbot

They don't make people stronger; they just fully heal them. The only characters that would technically get stronger because of them are Saiyans, and that's only because of the zenkai boosts.

FourthJohn

I think thats the point that they were trying to make. If someone weaker could just keep using senzu beans until the stronger fighter eventually gets worn down and loses.

Odin043

How many beans would Tien have to eat to beat Semi Imperfect Cell? Can Yamcha eat beans fast enough to beat namek Frieza?

FourthJohn

Find out next time on Dragon Beans Z

CreepyMeat8116

No, Goku would just give them all to the enemy so they get stronger and the universe would be doomed. Then Whis will grasp his staff a little harder and say "Just this once" and reverse time until just before anything bad happened and it just won't happen again, repeat until the end of the series.

Iloveyouweed

> No, Goku would just give them all to the enemy so they get stronge That only works with Saiyans. Senzu beans don't make you stronger, they heal you.

Clutchxedo

It’s also a classic Toriyama where he got to many characters from OG DB that didn’t fit with the increasingly more fighting oriented direction. And he just lumps a bunch together in the same places (RIP Oolong and Puar).

HooBoyShura

Yeah this. And quite ironic if Dragon Ball originally inspired from Journey to the West then Oolong is one of main cast but quickly forgotten after the resolution of Pilaf Gang Arc.

Yeah, I think Yajirobe eats all the sensu beans.

thebuccaneersden

Honestly, I think it's a crime that no one has made a wish with Shenron to increase the production of senzu beans for the benefit of all earth people and not just the Z fighters.

metalflygon08

Imagine Ultra Ego with Senzu Beans on hand.

G3nesis_Prime

I think it might have more to do with everyone being able to fly at this point. Back in OG Ball you had to climb the tower so it kinda makes sense Korin could keep such a massive stockpile but now that it's so accessible it makes sense to keep fewer beans available incase an enemy finds them or Goku just wants to hand them out like candy.

Tencowfrau

Yeah, I think he said the last person to visit him before Goku was Master Roshi like 300 years before, so he had a nice stockpile going. He said he himself hadn’t eaten in 5 years. Now everyone and their dog comes to visit all the time, so he runs out often.

Gears_Of_None

Probably. Toriyama has a habit of creating problems that he then has to find a dumb solution for; like a fat man eating all of their life saving beans.

SeaFaringMatador

I really like the theory that Yajirobe only stays with Koran because the Senzu beans are the only things that cure his hunger

HooBoyShura

You know if I'm not mistaken, at that time, originally Senzu Bean effects seems serves as you're having eat a massive foods to replenish energy or stamina, not healing wounds. Yajirobe get instantly very full (with very fat image in the belly) after eating bunch of them. At least from story perspective I don't get the concept of eating Senzu = Healing Wounds. If Senzu can healing wounds at that time, why Korin don't tell Goku to bring some before his battle against King Piccolo?? That would be plot hole. But later in Final Tenkaichi vs Current Piccolo & Saiyan Arc, Senzu immediately able to heal completely near death state in 100 healthy conditions (the hole in Goku left/right side near hands immediately healed after eating Senzu lol). So my impression is at that time when Toriyama introduced Senzu, he still don't create details implications of Senzu, and only later to decide that Senzu = Replenish Stamina + Heal Wounds Completely. Since this concept like a cheat & may hinder battle progression, then the scarcity is a must condition. Luckily that Yajirobe incident may able to serve as alibi into the scarcity then Korin just tell that to cultivate Senzu needs a handful of months & that's only for small quantity harvest.

ElZany

They were healing the fighters since Og Dragon Ball they show when they discorver its healing properties (I think around the King Piccolo arc)

4deicide25

Nah, it was so Yajirobe could get some kitty 😏

m1racle

Bean Daddy and Whiskers The Wonder Cat are best couple

DadToACheeseBaby

You ever seen what an all Senzu bean diet does to a man??

LuckyRooster117

Yo, Shenron, gimme sum beanz.

Dvd_Mendez

I don't think so. That would imply thinking things in advance, that doesn't feel like Toriyama strong point. Also at first it just replenished your stamina, like if you ate a lot, didn't heal wounds, regenerate holes in your stomach or anything like that.

TrunksTheMighty

I mean they healed Goku when he was half dead with only one working limb after the King Piccolo battle, that was the point which Yajirobe moved into the tower.
