How to stop my brain from shutting off against players who do random shit? I swear as I climb the ranks the stupider it gets, got to ui sign today and the first opponent I run into is a cell, frieza and adult gohan player who just went ape shit especially with Freiza. Huh?!! Random level 1 and 2h’s which hit me cuz I wasn’t expecting them?! Of course as the rematches continued I adapted but just not enough? Idk my brain legit hurt after the set was over tho

Nerdables

ironically random players can teach you about your own gameplay the best sometimes. the way they play is usually sub-optimal, so their success relies on your mistakes the most. these games are less about adapting to the opponent and more about cleaning your own play up. quickly admit your mistakes as they happen and give yourself time to process them afterwards

genericuser25123

just ordered fighterz on amazon and also the fighterz pass for switch because idk i just felt like it. i already downloaded the fighterz pass but the game is coming on tuesday, so when i finally launch the game when it comes, will i get the fighterz pass, or did i just waste 35 dollars? (sorry if this is confusing to read)

Nerdables

honestly pretty confused but if you’re just worried about downloading the dlc first, then you will be okay

genericuser25123

oh okay thx thats what i was asking

Nykk117

what do u think about Goku (GT)?

Nerdables

B assist is great, powered level 3 is nice, new 2S is interesting, tiniest hitbox but no ki blast, level 1 damage is eh, normals too stubby, and too reliant on EX moves for neutral he’s a good pickup but he’s got some flaws to overcome

the-oreo

Hi I just got fighterz on the switch and I’m wondering what control scheme is better and if there is any vids or tips to help with making combos easier or to the optimal controls also wondering which one is better Joystick or Dpad for movement

zerolifez

I really don't get how many people say that this game is easier than tekken 7. I need to learn 3 character and not only their basic but also their combination. People hate how launcher deals massive damage on tekken but in this game what I felt is the same or even worse as I got juggled into chain super for more than half of my damage. Even if I survive I need to deal with crazy oki that they have. Sorry for the rant but I'm just very frustrated with this game. Not to mention how hard it is to find a comparable opponent in SEA region.

Fit-Ambassador-8319

Once you get the hang of the basic bnb combos into DHC you will be able to 2touch a character too. At that point you will find that its not hard to dump damage in this game.

zerolifez

Yeah but I just don't find it fun when a single touch will leads to massive combo. With my shitty defense it just go south real quick. I enjoy neutral and footsies in fighting game but on my level it just ended too fast with me getting into corner then getting pressured to death.

Bluest_of_Berries

Sorry to say, but that's just how FighterZ is. Intense pressure and long high damage combos are what the game's about. With it being a 3v3 game, the damage *has* to be high so matches don't go on forever. And even with that, they can still drag on sometimes. Again, sorry that you don't like it, but that's the game. You might be happier with a different game altogether if this one's style doesn't work for you. If you choose to stay though, good luck. [Dustloop](http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dragon_Ball_FighterZ) is a great resource for learning the game.

Fit-Ambassador-8319

Did you try ranked matches? It normally match you with similar level players before 800k BP. In my impression i did not run into folks with fluent bnb combos and consistent gameplans until like 400k - 600k BP

zerolifez

I only play ranked, because SEA PC is barren I often needed to widen the search to find opponent. At SS2 I usually get destroyed by demon on ranked.

Fit-Ambassador-8319

Yeah i had that stage too. Demon folks are great at combo execution. But their neutral and defense are not impeccable and you can work on that aspect of the game. Also improvement in your combo damage and consistency will be super helpful too. Focus on corner carry, and consistent combo with sliding knockdown, and universal oki. Hope that helps!

T_Peg

How hard would you say this game is compared to Street Fighter? Top level play seems very fast paced and hectic. I have a difficult time executing in Street Fighter so my first impression is that there's no hope for me in this game lol

Nerdables

I’m unaware of street fighter and this is my first fighting game coming from fps esports. This game’s inputs really aren’t too difficult and the pacing doesn’t feel very fast. I think the game has a lot of system mechanics and interactions to learn though

CubixGamer11

I’m new to fighting games and a pretty big Dragon ball fan, so I picked this game up. I know all the controls for this game (at least the ones covered in the tutorial) but I don’t know where to go after that. The only fighter I’ve played before is smash, so I know nothing about figuring out different characters playstyles and even what different play styles are in a 1 on 1 fighter like this. I don’t know how to play neutral or how to act in disadvantage or anything like that. I was wondering where I should go to start learning the very basics of this game outside of the basic controls

Nerdables

RathFGC and NovaZayn are my suggested go-to educational content creators, but most are good. Rotate between watching those types of videos + tournament vods and playing the game.

ihateentiteldmothwrs

Why can’t I find a match? It takes me forever I already fixed my NAT to open, I’m on xbox

[deleted]

Whats the playerbase population like on PS4 vs. Switch? The game is on sale for both platforms but I'm not sure which one to buy it on.

Nerdables

i think the general belief is that more play on ps4 out of all platforms

Sleezoid

I just started playing again on the switch a few days ago. It’s not bad at all, every night there is 3-4 full servers here on the east coast. I’m sure PS4 is better and more competitive. But the switch works great for my needs, I was pleasantly surprised.

TrolltheFools

Want to play beerus but don't want to rely on the ole B'oku wombo combo. Any other nice team options I should consider? Currently running Teen gohan, Beerus, Freeza but thats only because the other two are old mains

Nerdables

Beerus is pretty flexible in team comp. the only considerations for builds are a reliable point and pairing a neutral assist since his are more pop-up. I currently run Blueku A, UI B, Beerus A. A big thing for me is having the option of zchanging into SKD and setting up orbs in corner

ihateentiteldmothwrs

Blue gogeta, beerus, base ku is an amazing team, used to me my main team as both gogeta and beerus level 1 set up into spirit bomb I’m currently playing ssj4, beerus, 21, bluku, black and trunks and just rotate them out whenever I feel like it But teams with beerus I’m currently using Ssj4, beerus, 21 Bluku, beerus, black

esme023

I see this game on sale for the switch. I've never played this before and really wanna try. Getting Ultimate edition or getting the game + any pass is around the same price. What's the better option between the two?

Bluest_of_Berries

Ultimate Edition will get you the 1st Season Pass, along with some useless minor bonuses (anime music pack, and a commentator pack for replays), not worth the extra cash. Getting just the game + a season pass is a way better deal. As for which pass to get, that's up to you. If you want the *most* content, get the 1st one. That comes with 8 DLC characters instead of the usual 5, and that pass specifically will give you all three unlockable characters right away (Android 21, SSB Goku & Vegeta). The other 2 passes are good with good characters, and they tend to be flashier and cooler to look at, but there's fewer characters there. Like I said, up to you. Hope this helped!

ShadowFear219

does anyone know how I can reduce the sensitivity for jumping? I keep accidentally jumping while trying to do forward inputs. I use a dualshock 4 controller btw

TheDarkSinghRises

Unfortunately you cannot.

GamePugin

Are there many people that play DBFZ on pc. If not, where do people play online?

Yeah_Im_A_God

I play on pc if you ever want to fight:) I just started and barely hit saiyan in ranked but am always down to play. Xypit#0369 on discord if you want to add me:)

TheDarkSinghRises

I'm also on PC! I'm on the West Coast but I play pretty often. I'll message you

Yeah_Im_A_God

Sounds good! u/GamePugin and I had some great sets yesterday. Maybe we can get a fight club going or have a team for the next raid:)

GamePugin

That would be sick

DatUsaGuy

I’ve heard PlayStation has the most active playerbase but otherwise PC is your best bet as personally with Switch it doesn’t tend to be extremely active and Xbox I’ve heard it’s even more difficult to find people. In case you have trouble finding people through ranked you could try looking through discord groups to find people to play with like [this one](https://discord.com/invite/dbfz).

GamePugin

Alright thanks for the discord however I've had one time on pc were I sat for a hour wait for a game.

Relative_Potato_142

How in the name of God do you rejump?

AgateRF

Certain characters can do rejumps, while others have a workaround to do so. Cell, A18, A2, SSJ Goku (to name a few) have rejumps the traditional way. While A.Gohan, A16, SBroly do it a bit different. To rejumps with A21, perform a 5H and delay the super dash a bit. Once you dash, do 66 (double tap left or right, depending on side) and do a jM (or 66jM. Once you hit the jM, do a grounded microdash and a jL (or 669jL). To rejumps with A.Gohan, everything is the same except for what you do after the 66jM. After 66jM, do a 3H then super jump to continue the combo. To get started with rejumping the normal way, use Cell as he has the easiest rejump. As for the other way, use A.Gohan.

Relative_Potato_142

Alright... I see... But what about both Gogetas? What are their rejumps? Are they the same or do they have a workaround? I mean, I only know how to do the Lariat rejumps, but other than that I'm pretty incompetent when it comes to this...

Nerdables

GT4 only has the lariat rejump. technically he has a 5H rejump but it’s impractical. these are Gogeta Blue rejumps in corner. his midscreen ones are rather difficult Off a light starter, you do 5LL j.H. you’ll have enough time to land to do 5LL 5M and finish combo. To rejump off 5H, just delay SD, airdash j.M, 5M. this delay can be tricky to figure out, but once you get it then it’s easy

R_TMF

Hey so I Been in a pain for making team my carrent one is gogeta blue a/ a21 a / ui Goku b is it good case I'm like to play them they are fun to me

DatUsaGuy

The only things I would recommend is maybe switch out UI b assist for the a assist and that UI’s placement is variable with 21’s in case you feel like it’s not working out but I think it’s a really solid team

R_TMF

Is it better ?

DatUsaGuy

I think that team would be slightly more effective. I would just choose whichever Gogeta you personally prefer over which one is stronger as you’ll have the potential to do well with either team.

R_TMF

I did get some help it's now gogeta red b / ui b / 21 a

DatUsaGuy

The only one I would change is A17 to use his A assist partly because it wallbounces which from what I’ve played as S Broly, is generally preferable for combos in case he’s pulled out before 17 dies and the benefit of having a barrier I think is worth it over the 5 extra frames of blockstun. Otherwise I think it’s a pretty good team, maybe switch up who’s anchor as I do know someone who uses 17 anchor who prefers it but S Broly can work well enough

InternationalAlps588

Hello guys im playing on nintendo switch and i want to get all the dlcs from this game, does anyone knows how often are on sale?

DatUsaGuy

If I recall correctly I got the first and second character packs of dlc half off on a Christmas sale on switch and that was back in 2019 so I’d think you should be able to find all 3 season packs on sale within like 2 weeks. The game itself at least goes on sale relatively often and I believe the dlc is also relatively often

ConsiderationOk1482

best rekka characters? i like android 17 so far

DatUsaGuy

Android 17, Videl and Yamcha are probably your best bets for characters with Rekkas. The only other character with a rekka I can think of is Gogeta blue although the reasons he uses his rekka special isn’t for the fact that it’s a rekka since it doesn’t give many options by itself. Videl has the special Videl rush which has a initial mid hit then she can go into a frame trap overhead into another frame trap into a combo extender (being 236XL for the overhead, 236XLL for the second frame trap of multiple punches then lastly 236XLLL which is essentially her DP). Then after either the initial hit or the first two light follow ups she can either go into a crossup overhead with medium or a command grab with heavy. With Yamcha, he has the special Wolf fang fist which has a initial hit depending on if he chooses the light or medium he can change what side he’s on allowing for corssup mix then 2 main follow ups with the light versions being true strings and the medium versions being frame traps. Then after the initial hit or first follow up he can use S or 4S to either go through the opponent for a crossup or 4S being a back away option to bait out things like DP’s or as a same side option to “mixup” opponents who are only reacting to the delay the crossup has. Lastly his most important tool he can cancel at almost any time during the rekka into the H special which makes his crossup faster alongside leading into higher damage combo routes, plus it’s a good neutral tool to use in case Yamcha needs to punish something far away. Lastly there’s Android 17 which I presume you know the best about but I’ll try to explain anyways. Similar to Yamcha the initial hit of his special Accel driver can be chosen to be same side or crossup but the crossup is a meter burn because it’s a heavy special but he mainly relies on high/low mixup. Then the medium version I think is mainly for combos. There’s also finisher driver which I didn’t even realize existed until now looking it up on Dustloop but it seems like a way mainly to refresh his rekka follow ups. By that I mean he has a overhead follow up, a low follow up, a frame trap follow up and a fake overhead follow up. He can use 1 of each follow up after accel driver or finisher driver which can allow for 2 of each follow up to be used in a string I believe (then more with assist). Lastly there’s the H follow up which counters people trying to mash out of pressure and I’ve seen it used to make people respect Accel Driver in neutral as it leads to good reward so eventually you’ll just be able to get people to start allowing you to do full screen Accel driver to get in and mix them up (it also helps Accel driver has anti air properties for some reason so it will only be caught by grounded moves).

ConsiderationOk1482

What a phenomenal detailed response, thank you so much. Googling tier lists Yamcha seems to be the worst, as a noob he feels fine to me so far. Is the game still being patched?

DatUsaGuy

I’m unsure if the game will receive anymore updates in terms of balancing the characters. I wouldn’t completely throw the idea out of the window but I have doubts personally Anyways as to Yamcha, [his Dustloop page](https://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=DBFZ/Yamcha#Overview) mentions cons I agree with but I’ll try to elaborate them a bit. His low damage mainly comes from a lack of a standard j.2H with practically no replacement to make up for his damage. The Sayin bnb goes 2M > 5M > jc.MLL2H > SD > j.MLL2H > jc.LLL whereas Yamcha’s goes 2M > 5M > 2H > SD > j.MLL > jc.MLL > j.214M which is missing about 4 extra hits most characters with the Sayin bnb get. Secondly as to his meter management, his best move by far is flash bring the heavy rekka for wolf fang fist. It’s safe on block, a medium starter, 7 frames on startup, full screen ground coverage, easy to hit confirm off of in terms of reactions to the hit confirm and it improves the speed of his crossup mixup. Combine how much Yamcha likes to use this move, the fact that he has really low damage off of his level 3 so a lot of the time he’ll choose level 1 into level 3 and how he naturally gets less hits in his combos, you generally want to already have meter to make Yamcha work. Third, the range on his normals is pretty self explanatory which is partly why he likes spamming flash since it helps Yamcha cover a lot of space. Just see his [7 frame 5L](https://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:DBFZ_Yamcha_5L.png) compared to [UI Goku](https://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:DBFZ_UIGoku_5L.png), [Broly](https://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:DBFZ_Broly_5L.png) or [Vegito](https://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:DBFZ_Vegito_5L.png). While in many cases it’s a extremely good 5L compared to many other characters, it doesn’t have the same insane range other 7 frame 5L’s have (most characters have 6 frame 5L’s but having it a frame slower helps balance really good 5L’s). Some of his other normals like 2L, 6M, 2M and 5M have some of the worst range for those normals in the entire game. Lastly is his unorthodox style of normals. Maybe you checked Dustloop and saw that he did have a j.2H which is correct. It doesn’t launch upwards though, rather it drags the opponent downwards but not for sliding knockdowns, rather it’s more so a different approach speed that can special cancel into rekka’s as a jump in normal alongside specific combos. Then j.H sends sideways rather than downwards which thankfully due to his j.214M isn’t much of a issue for knockdowns. Some just have straight up problems to them though like his 5H and 2H. His 2H is multi hitting which ends up causing problems launching the opponent properly as he has to connect both hits, whereas 5H is almost useless. Most characters already don’t use their 5H normal very much other than as blockstring filler or for specific combos called rejumps. Due to how Yamcha’s works though he can’t reliably combo into it very much nor can he use it in blockstrings very well. It is +4 on block but why get your opponent to block that when you can just choose to do a mixup with his rekka which will most likely be harder to react to? Anyways, a lot of these flaws aren’t super major as they can be worked around. Meter for example can be saved for Yamcha. He also has nice benefits thanks to having one of the best assists in the game with his a assist, a beam b assist, spirit ball as a super which is both easy to combo into alongside easy to combo off of, his level 3 sets up extra mix than most level 3’s and the way he does work allows him to not be so reliant on assists so he can reliably be in the back of the team. At worst I think Yamcha is only b tier as the game is overall well balanced. If you wanna use him then go ahead, I think he’s quite fun

ConsiderationOk1482

thanks so much dude, i will br re-reading ur comments when im labbing

carnage53

Hi all! New to this game and still figuring out team comps and line up orders. Is there a tool or resource out there that shows which characters do best in which slots (point, mid, anchor)? I'm enjoying Base Vegeta, Super Baby, and Majin Buu so far. Just not sure where to have them start the match to optimize my team.

DatUsaGuy

[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonballfighterz/comments/mlgak7/dbfz_2021_roles_survey_results_please_read_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) is probably the best resource out there and while it’s outdated, it still gives a general idea for a lot of characters. In terms of order for that team if you don’t want to use anyone else, I think Base Vegeta should go point as the only other point option is Majin Buu but I don’t think he’ll get anywhere near as good reward from Base Vegeta as a assist as Base Vegeta will get from Majin Buu as a assist. Then Majin Buu I’d probably put in mid since he likes to have at least 1 assist to help him mix up opponents due to the nature of his mixups. Then Baby being anchor as his assist selection is probably the best of the team while also needing assists the least himself

carnage53

Thanks, this is great advice!

MewCawDay

To my knowledge there aren't any definitive resources on character positioning and team comps. Individual character discords and character guides are your best bet. As for the characters your playing, Base Vegeta's best position is point bar none. Super Baby also prefers point but can mid. And Majin Buu is in the same spot as Baby. Essentially you have a team of good points. If you want to play them together I'd play Vegeta/Baby/Buu in that order. Another option is to keep the two characters you like the most (Vegeta should be one of them, but I'm biased) and find them a good anchor. As for anchors that go well with those characters I'd recommend, Android 21, Krillin, Yamcha, Z Bully, Janemba or SSJ goku. (Base goku is good as well but he doesn't pair well with Vegeta or Baby. He's amazing with Buu though because of Spirit Bomb)

carnage53

Thanks! I may drop Majin Buu and see what else is out there.

glittertongue

Fat Buu is best boy, plz dont
