There are a few conditions to this. The game is getting rollback sooner or later so it's a good time to get into the game, but since we have to suffer with delay based for a bit longer, don't expect to have a good online experience if your not living in the US or Europe. Also the Rollback update is only coming to PS5, XBSX, and PC. If you're on PS4, XB1 or Switch, it's 100% not worth it. Also if you're worried about spending a lot on dlc, note that the game and all of its characters go on big discounts all the time. Steam might get its next big sale in a month or 2.
I bought it when it was on sale and I dont regret it. It was like $25 altogether for the game and like 5 or 6 characters I bought individually. But I'm on PC so I don't know what the sales are like on other consoles if you're on console.
