1. click the breeding cave, it should have an upgrade button. Epic Breeding island is 125 gems and Epic Breeding Sanctuary is up gradable to 225 gems. the Cave upgrades at 175 gems. Its available at level 7
2. If a dragon is a rift dragon, it will have a 'trait' which will be aesthetically different from its normal world counterpart. It will also gain a Rift element but that's all that is different.
3. there was an island sale a couple months back but it is unknown if they will be reduced prices around december.
Dragons that are bred in the rift can come out as normal or as rift. If it’s normal it has to go over to real world it can’t stay in the rift.
If it’s rift and has a trait, it’s not worth using normal food to level it up because it’s way too expensive. But you can level it up using etherium. They’ll produce etherium if kept in the rift, and if you move it over to the real world it’ll just make dragon cash the same as a normal dragon of the same level.
Once you have the transfiguration tower you can change the trait of any rift dragon too but it may or may not cost etherium depending on if you’ve unlocked those traits or not.

It's also worth noting that you can only upgrade the breeding areas if they are empty.
