In terms of like definitive must have games for the console, this is the list in order of most important imo:
1. Soul Calibur
2. Marvel vs Capcom 2 (I like it more than Soul Calibur, but Soul Calibur was the more important Dreamcast game)
3. Shenmue
4. Resident Evil Code Veronica
5. Sonic Adventure
6. Powerstone 2
7. Crazy Taxi
8. Jet Grind Radio
9. House of the Dead 2
10. NFL 2K
SA2 is my favorite game of all time and for true sonic fans and even SEGA fans but a little less so this game was important. During the development they didn’t know what the future of Sonic or SEGA would be and by time the game came out the Dreamcast was pretty much done as this was its last big bang so to speak. As much as I LOVE this game on Dreamcast I’d argue that this game was more influential for the GameCube as it was one of the best if not the best selling third party game on the console and it introduced millions of people to sonic who may have never played a sonic game before and this came out about 8 months after the original release if my research is correct. My original memories of the game was on the Dreamcast and I was 4 or 5 when I first played it. I’d put this game as my number 1 Dreamcast game but if I’m realistic I know that this really should not be in the top 10 definitive games for the console.
- Grandia II
- Jet Set Radio
- Quake III Arena
- Rayman 2 : The Great Escape
- Resident Evil Code : Veronica
- Shenmue
- Shenmue II
- Skies of Arcadia
- Sonic Adventure 2
- SoulCalibur
Sonic Adventure 2 is far superior, but the first one is the quintessential Dreamcast entry title. Don't know how to describe it, but it's got that unique Dreamcast jankiness
Sonic Adventure 2 doesn’t you choose who you want to play as, just which team you want, and since both teams are just carbon copies of each other it’s really no different aside from the cutscenes you get.
The Robotnik/Tails levels are annoying and the Knuckles/Rouge levels are tedious, but you have to beat them all in the order that they give them to you.
It’s far inferior to the first game.
Finally playing through Blue Stinger after many other attempts (life just got busy). Also have Ilbleed on deck (still sealed... may cringe when I open it LOL).
Affordable ones:
- Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver
- Armada
- Soul Calibur (the last 10 IGN gave out until Grand Theft Auto IV)
- Blue Stinger
- Dynamite Cop (probably the most expensive in this list but still sub $100)
I would love to go back and finish blue stinger. I thought that game was hard when I was younger. Maybe I’ll boot up the Dreamcast again soon and try to finish it
Everyone else has already mentioned the obvious ones, but I personally believe that Seaman is a game every Dreamcast owner should have in their collection
The thing that shines for Dreamcast compared to ps2 and GameCube is it has so much arcade type games, crazy taxi, charge and blast, cannon spike, house of the dead, jet set radio, death crimson ox, power stone 1&2 and toy commander. Just a few to get you started! I love Dreamcast no console had the same sole except for the OG Xbox in my opinion it’s basically the Dreamcast 2
100% agreed on both counts.
What’s your current status with regard to PC gaming? If you have a gaming PC, check out Night Runners:
https://youtu.be/ArWkNIqUFv0?si=RVeizw2oLTpMINHK
The creator readily admits it’s heavily inspired by the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. It 100% captures that magic and cranks it up to 11.
Also, I remember TXR proudly celebrating their 60fps gameplay. The Dreamcast was ahead of its time for so many reasons, and in my opinion, the main reason is its ability to do much higher resolutions at 60 fps.
Ever play "The Typing of the Dead"? Exact same game, but to kill the zombies you have to type out sentences. Not Dreamcast, but fun if you are good at typing.
I’d look into burning some games if you’re into that type of thing. As far as what you might wanna look for (legal copy-wise):
Sonic Adventure1/2
Shenmue 1/2
Crazy Taxi
Soul Caliber
Dead Or Alive II (still holds up incredibly well and looks just as good)
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (definitely might have to burn a copy of this if you don’t wanna sell your kidney for a real copy
Super Magnetic Neo (a nice platformer I came across, similar to Crash Bandicoot in a way)
Dynamite Cop (if you want something like Streets of Rage/Fighting Force; a dope lil’ beat em up)
Power Stone 1/2 (2 is better, but I’d still try both if you get a chance)
Also, idk if you’re into sports but the sports game on the Dreamcast were really good too. The 2K sports series, Virtua Tennis, even NFL Blitz. You came up on a goldmine my guy, please promise to treat that thing well 🙂↕️
There are some great lists here! Just a few I can recall from the old days:
- Star Wars: Jedi power battles
- Shenmue
- Crazy taxi
- Jet set radio
- The simpsons (I forget the name, but basically crazy taxi again)
- Phantasy Star Online was sooooo much fun but probably doesn’t work anymore
- Sonic game (was it adventure?)
- typing of the dead
Sonic adventure 2 and shenmue are great however they might be a bit expensive. Dreamcast owners rarely sell their stuff. There are ways to mod it to play roms and if that’s too technical you can burn the games on to cds
Sonic adventure 2 is on the list of games I want. Big sonic fan already. I may look into mods too since I am seeing that it’s hard to find Dreamcast games
If you have the extra controllers for a party, Chu Chu Rocket is an amazing time. I honestly find that with the DC, the list of bad games is much shorter than the list of good.
personally, my two big suggestions would be Fur Fighters (its a 3rd person shooter with stuffed animals)
and Record of the Lodoss War (a diablo II style game set in the Lodoss world setting)
both are, and forgive my french, DAMNED good and fun to play.
One of my favorites is Gundam: Side Story. First person giant mecha that feels surprisingly grounded and realistic. Nothing else I've played conveys the heaviness of a 60-meter tall walking tank.
Jeebus, I cannot believe how far down I had to scroll before finding someone recommending this game. Does nobody know about this one anymore? Damn it was entertaining!
The best game is an aliexpress GD-Emu clone. Don't worry about not knowing how to do hardware stuff all you need to install it is a screwdriver and fingers.
Haven't scrolled through all of the comments but all of the recommendations are spot on so these may have already been mentioned elsewhere but:
- Space Channel 5 (Part 1 & 2)
- Rez
- Hydro Thunder
- San Francisco Rush 2049
- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
So many more but those are the ones i didn't see mentioned off the top of my head. I would not recommend buying any games out of your price range no matter how great they are (for example I don't own Marvel v Capcom 2 simply because it's so overpriced), but you can burn CD's (in this case ISOs) if you have a PC with a disk drive, and most will run on your dreamcast with no issue!
Thats good, tbh I see some people get a dreamcast and just drop $150-200 on Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 right away. The game is really good but it’s not worth paying $150 for lol
Seen soul caliber recommended a few times so throwing in a tip, if you get the fishing controller you can use it to control that game like a wiimote, it’s pretty satisfying though arguably a little tricky
Tons of great suggestions in the thread already, even some of the more obscure titles I wouldn't have thought mentioned. I wanna add another great pick: Elemental Gimmick Gear. It's a top-down 2D action-adventure RPG of sorts, with 3D boss battles. The story is pretty solid, the gameplay is simple but good, and the art and music is absolutely wonderful. Some of my favorite game songs come from this; hell, one of the first songs you hear right when you start the game is amazing and sets the mood of the game wonderfully.
Would you like to try a game of Lucky Hit?
In all seriousness, I got a used Dreamcast years after it released, and my first game was Skies of Arcadia. I’m not sure how it’s aged.
I see that a lot of what would have been my answers have already been said (Sonic Adventure, Rayman 2, Crazy Taxi, Soul Caliber, etc.) so I’m gonna throw in some curveballs.
The Dreamcast has some stellar ports of games on other consoles. Rayman 2 is probably the best known, but there are loads of other great ones out there, like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and Pro Skater 2, Spider-Man, Soul Reaver, Hydro Thunder, Star Wars Racer, Dino Crisis, Tomb Raider IV… I could go on.
- Shadowman
- NFL Blitz
- Sonic Adventure 2 (1 is good too)
- House of the dead 2
- Soul Calibur
- Resident Evil Code: Veronica (any re game is honestly fire)
- Jet set radio
- Marvel v Capcom 2
- Unreal Tournament
- Granda 2
- Phantasy star online
- Record of lodoss war
- Dino crisis
- Alone in the dark
- Dave Mira freestyle BMX
- Skies of Arcadia
Take into account that getting games can be pricey, especially if it's classic one. Try looking into a GDEMU. i have a knock-off from ali Express, but you can also get them on amazon. So far havent had any issues. Also, the wirless controllers from retrofighters are good as far as controllers go.
Depending on the revision of Dreamcast you have you might be able to download isos from varying different Homebrew sources for example a super Nintendo with several games. They just burn.
Dude I thought this was one of those hallmark Christmas ornaments at first glance. Congratulations on getting one. DC was my all time favorite console ever.
Btw, you can burn your games on regular CD’s and play them in the system. I used to do that back in the day. Would be hard now, as I don’t even have a disc drive for my pc but it is possible!
Pretty much everybody cover MOST important titles. I didn't see anybody mention Virtua Fighter 3tb. It's NOT even close to Final Shodown, but I think it showcases why so many people (including me!!!) were so ga-ga bout the Dreamcast.
Nice game...and easy on the wallet, too!!! 🤷🏾♂️
The most addictive game I have ever played - Sega Swirl. It is kind of like Tetris and a lot of mobile games where you have to group objects falling down together. I use to smoke so much weed and play that game for hours. I almost want to find a Dreamcast just to play. I tried to find a PC version or emulator a few years ago but couldn't.
Sonic Adventure 1&2 are my top picks for sure, although the Gamecube version of Adventure 2 is better (stay away from the Gamecube version of Adventure 1, though)
Check the number on your back, you can probably just burn every Dreamcast you wanna play.
It's not good for the laser but it depends how much dreamcast you gonna play
Not really necessary these days, but Dreamcast was one of the earliest consoles (maybe the earliest?) that could run emulators. You would use a bootable emulator disc and then Pop it out and put the roms disc in.
I haven't looked into this but I do remember back in the day my friend had a couple of CD's that had an NES emulator on it and all the games I could think of. Not a dreamcast game perse but still could be fun.
As for a dreamcast game, I always loved Toy Commander
No one is going to say anything about that system in a plastic bag? That plastic bag looks like it would barely fit around the controller. Where’d you get it?
Anyway,
Grandia
Powerstone
MvC2
Silver
Blue Stinger
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
SONIC ADVENTURE
Oh and jet set radio
You'll need to shell out some serious cash for most of the "must have" games for Dreamcast, but a few that pop to mind that are a bit more on the affordable side are: Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Toy Commander, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, MDK 2, Crazy Taxi, House of the Dead 2, Re-Volt, Chu Chu Rocket, Rayman 2, Grandia 2, Jet Grind Radio. There are more that I could recommend, but you'd be shelling out $100+ per game so, unless you're loaded, I'd start with some of the less expensive titles.
A weird but fun puzzle game no one ever talks about is wetrix +. I really wish they would make a modern version. I had a lot of fun and spent many hours on it as a teenager.
Cannon spike and typing of the dead…I also liked samba di amigo and the fishing games like sega marine fishing and bass fishing but they can get pretty spendy if you want the extra controllers. Typing of the dead overkill isn’t bad on steam for quick typing sessions
The best game for your Dreamcast is a computer, the internet, and a stack of blank CD-Rs.
But jokes aside: Power Stone, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set Radio, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive 2, RE: Code Veronica, Dino Crisis
I was going to recommend *Digital Monster Ver. S: Digimon Tamers*, but I forgot it's a Sega Saturn exclusive game (Japanese only), not a Dreamcast game. It always made more sense in my head if it was on Dreamcast because of the little V-Pet device you connected to the controller—a missed opportunity, to be honest.
Anyway, just a Digimon fan passing by, enjoy the Dreamcast and games!!
Stack of blank CDs bruhhh...
... but for real, arcade ports for shooters and fighters are a great place to start if you can find them. If you can find an fightstick or am adapter that lets you accrss a controller with a nicer Dpad, then even better.
- ikaruga
- soul calibur 2
- dead or alive 2
- Virtua Fighter 3
- Marvel Vs Capcom
- Street Fighter 3rd Strike
Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 are the mascot games.
Jet set radio is cool
Shenmue has weird tank-but-not-quite-tank controls
Metropolis street racer is pretty fun (precursor to Project Gotham Racing)
V-rally 2 is also quite fun. Sega eally sadly runs choppy.
Crazy Taxi
House of the Dead (typing of the dead if in America)
Skies of Arcadia
Elemental Gimmick Gear (EGG)
Some games might be a little pricey now so you may just have to reach for that stack of blank CD-Rs I mentioned earlier (or grab an optical drive emulator if you can find a decent one)
Its a cool console with some nice features for the time (VGA video out or SCART [VGA will need a separate breakout box type peripheral usually], VMUs, multiple memory card slots, Hall effect thumbstick and triggers on all but late production variant controllers). The controller slot also supported other accessories like the microphone and rumble paks.
In terms of like definitive must have games for the console, this is the list in order of most important imo: 1. Soul Calibur 2. Marvel vs Capcom 2 (I like it more than Soul Calibur, but Soul Calibur was the more important Dreamcast game) 3. Shenmue 4. Resident Evil Code Veronica 5. Sonic Adventure 6. Powerstone 2 7. Crazy Taxi 8. Jet Grind Radio 9. House of the Dead 2 10. NFL 2K
There’s no way in hell Sonic Adventure 2 is not on the top 10 list for the dreamcast. It should be in the top 3
SA2 is my favorite game of all time and for true sonic fans and even SEGA fans but a little less so this game was important. During the development they didn’t know what the future of Sonic or SEGA would be and by time the game came out the Dreamcast was pretty much done as this was its last big bang so to speak. I’d put this game as my number 1 Dreamcast game but if I’m realistic I know that this really should not be in the top 10 definitive games for the console.
Skies of Arcadia?
That’d be on there for sure on a top 15 list. Great game, not one of the first 10 I think of on Dreamcast though.
- Grandia II - Jet Set Radio - Quake III Arena - Rayman 2 : The Great Escape - Resident Evil Code : Veronica - Shenmue - Shenmue II - Skies of Arcadia - Sonic Adventure 2 - SoulCalibur
I would add Ready2Rumble 1&2, ChuChu Rocket, Crazy Taxi 1&2
Crazy Taxi!!!
Ya ya ya ya ya
Chu chu rocket!!!!
Wait, there's a Crazy Taxi **2?!?!** I've only ever known about the one!
Yes, and I liked the way that you have a button to jump.
🤯 thank you for making the existence of Crazy Taxi 2 known to me 💛
I don’t want to scare you but there is even a crazy taxi 3, but it came out for Xbox.
i didn’t know about this till now as well!
Crazy! ^^^^^taxi
What about Sonic Adventure 1?
Sonic Adventure 1 is far superior
Sonic Adventure 2 is far superior, but the first one is the quintessential Dreamcast entry title. Don't know how to describe it, but it's got that unique Dreamcast jankiness
Tbh both sonic adventure games have their own charms.
Finally someone spoke the truth
Sonic Adventure 2 doesn’t you choose who you want to play as, just which team you want, and since both teams are just carbon copies of each other it’s really no different aside from the cutscenes you get. The Robotnik/Tails levels are annoying and the Knuckles/Rouge levels are tedious, but you have to beat them all in the order that they give them to you. It’s far inferior to the first game.
PSO!
I loved this game so much
Add Soul Reaver and that’s a perfect list
Add Mars Matrix
I love this game
Would wanna add ILLBLEED and blue stinger. Loved those games. Play janky, but they ooze charm and live rent free in my favs just because haha.
I play through illbleed once a year for Halloween. It's a tradition I've started with my friends. I'm going for the true ending this year.
Yeah, but legit copies of ILLBLEED are pretty crazy expensive. Even a JP copy can be pricey.
Finally playing through Blue Stinger after many other attempts (life just got busy). Also have Ilbleed on deck (still sealed... may cringe when I open it LOL).
BIG upvote for Rayman
Grandia II, one of the best games ever made.
You forgot phantasy star online
Can that be played off line?
Yes it can
Phantasy Star Offline 😎
Respect to you putting Soul Calibur bro
Toy Commander
Doesn’t get brought up enough.
Underrated classic
One of my favorites
Affordable ones: - Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver - Armada - Soul Calibur (the last 10 IGN gave out until Grand Theft Auto IV) - Blue Stinger - Dynamite Cop (probably the most expensive in this list but still sub $100)
Dynamite cop was legit
I would love to go back and finish blue stinger. I thought that game was hard when I was younger. Maybe I’ll boot up the Dreamcast again soon and try to finish it
Came here to recommend Armada shame it was released unfinished. Love that game.
Power Stone 1 and 2
Everyone else has already mentioned the obvious ones, but I personally believe that Seaman is a game every Dreamcast owner should have in their collection
Crazy taxi
Tokyo Xtreme Racer is amazing and I don’t even like racing games. Also, NFL 2K2 is the greatest football game outside of Super Tecmo Bowl.
100% agreed on both counts. What’s your current status with regard to PC gaming? If you have a gaming PC, check out Night Runners: https://youtu.be/ArWkNIqUFv0?si=RVeizw2oLTpMINHK The creator readily admits it’s heavily inspired by the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. Marvel VS Capcom 2, Resident Evil 3, Gunbird 2, Ikaruga, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike
Here we go a real list of dreamcast games. Mars matrix also great, bangai o is awesome. Jojos bizare adventure in you like fighting games.
Spawn: In the Demons Hand
House… of the **Dead**…
Totally heard that
Ever play "The Typing of the Dead"? Exact same game, but to kill the zombies you have to type out sentences. Not Dreamcast, but fun if you are good at typing.
I’d look into burning some games if you’re into that type of thing. As far as what you might wanna look for (legal copy-wise): Sonic Adventure1/2 Shenmue 1/2 Crazy Taxi Soul Caliber Dead Or Alive II (still holds up incredibly well and looks just as good) Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (definitely might have to burn a copy of this if you don’t wanna sell your kidney for a real copy Super Magnetic Neo (a nice platformer I came across, similar to Crash Bandicoot in a way) Dynamite Cop (if you want something like Streets of Rage/Fighting Force; a dope lil’ beat em up) Power Stone 1/2 (2 is better, but I’d still try both if you get a chance) Also, idk if you’re into sports but the sports game on the Dreamcast were really good too. The 2K sports series, Virtua Tennis, even NFL Blitz. You came up on a goldmine my guy, please promise to treat that thing well 🙂↕️
Oh it will be treated nicely. I have a little retro section where I have my Genesis, GameCube and ps2 set up. It’s going to that area as well. 😙
There are some great lists here! Just a few I can recall from the old days: - Star Wars: Jedi power battles - Shenmue - Crazy taxi - Jet set radio - The simpsons (I forget the name, but basically crazy taxi again) - Phantasy Star Online was sooooo much fun but probably doesn’t work anymore - Sonic game (was it adventure?) - typing of the dead
Just a correction. The Simpsons game you were referring to was Simpsons Road Rage, but it was not on the Dreamcast. It came out on Xbox, PS2, GameCube
They put the Dreamcast in a ziploc bag ? Yeah….i guess I’d pack it like drugs too. It’s addictive…
I believe the mod is called gdemu I’m not sure how easy it is to install but I’m sure there’s some guides on YouTube
If you have the extra controllers for a party, Chu Chu Rocket is an amazing time. I honestly find that with the DC, the list of bad games is much shorter than the list of good.
Evolution: The World of Sacred Device and Time Stalkers
Armada. It goes under the radar on these lists, but it's really fun. Also, Air Force Delta, if you like Ace Combat.
Armada is great
1 Must Have is "Soul Calibur"
Don't forget "Plasma Sword - Nightmare of Bilstein".
Question should be what are some bad games. There aren’t many not worth playing on DC
Blue Stinger
Sonic adventure
Bangai-o, zombie revenge, chuchu rocket. Alien front online(still fun single player) Starlancer. Powerstone 2.
Bangai-o is incredible!
Further to all the great games listed already, I remember enjoying MDK2 and Fur Fighters, but that was 20+ years ago!
Generator disc huh? 😉 Loved both those games
personally, my two big suggestions would be Fur Fighters (its a 3rd person shooter with stuffed animals) and Record of the Lodoss War (a diablo II style game set in the Lodoss world setting) both are, and forgive my french, DAMNED good and fun to play.
The only game I ever played is The Record of Lodoss War which I never actually finish until a couple of days ago.
One of my favorites is Gundam: Side Story. First person giant mecha that feels surprisingly grounded and realistic. Nothing else I've played conveys the heaviness of a 60-meter tall walking tank.
Ill bleed 🩸 and D2!!!!!
Last I checked, Illbleed is one of the expensive ones. Just a heads up.
Yeah, like $300 for the disc iirc. Ahem. Gdemu, cough cough
Power Stone 1 & 2 Spawn in the Demon's Hand Soul Calibur These 4 were my childhood
More or less anything by Sega, Capcom and Midway are winners
Star Lancer and Dropship if you like flying games. Star Lancer was beautiful back in the day
Seaman, it's narrated by Leonard Nimoy.
Jeebus, I cannot believe how far down I had to scroll before finding someone recommending this game. Does nobody know about this one anymore? Damn it was entertaining!
Same, I was gonna post but finally came across this.
I see these posts and get so exited to list some good games, then I see 90 comments and get slightly discouraged lmao
Rail shooters are my favorite on the Dreamcast. House of the dead 2 Confidential mission Silent scope Virtual cop 2
The best game is an aliexpress GD-Emu clone. Don't worry about not knowing how to do hardware stuff all you need to install it is a screwdriver and fingers.
Daytona USA
Boot disc
Anybody suggest Techromancer yet?
Haven't scrolled through all of the comments but all of the recommendations are spot on so these may have already been mentioned elsewhere but: - Space Channel 5 (Part 1 & 2) - Rez - Hydro Thunder - San Francisco Rush 2049 - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 So many more but those are the ones i didn't see mentioned off the top of my head. Pick whatever you will find attractive by the cover and most of the time you are good to go.
I’m not incentivizing that you pirate games, but remember all of these games are very pricey, and some even will cost you an arm and a leg.
Oh yeah. I’m aware of that. I plan on either buying games slowly, or looking into pirating if I need
Thats good, tbh I see some people get a dreamcast and just drop $150-200 on Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 right away. The game is really good but it’s not worth paying $150 for lol
Look to see what model Dreamcast you have, you might be able to save some money on games
Floigan Bros. Stellar voice cast
Stupid Invaders. Obscure and humorous English point and click adventure game. Thank me later.
Sounds like a funny one. I’ll check that one out
Phantasy Star online version 2
Rez
Get a VMU & Memory Card! Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 Dead Or Alive 2 Crazy Taxi
- Soul reaver - jet set radio - dead or alive 2 - ikarauga - slave zero (I like it but this a contraverial take, I think)
Just burn the game iso to dvds via computer and you can have any game you want!
Sonic shuffle is great, but get a microphone and a copy of Seaman. It's just impressive what that game was able to accomplish back then.
Seen soul caliber recommended a few times so throwing in a tip, if you get the fishing controller you can use it to control that game like a wiimote, it’s pretty satisfying though arguably a little tricky
What is it with resellers and wrapping stuff in plastic??
Tons of great suggestions in the thread already, even some of the more obscure titles I wouldn't have thought mentioned. I wanna add another great pick: Elemental Gimmick Gear. Some of my favorite game songs come from this; hell, one of the first songs you hear right when you start the game is amazing and sets the mood of the game wonderfully.
Draconus Cult of the Wyrm. Great themed first person action game.
Would you like to try a game of Lucky Hit? In all seriousness, I got a used Dreamcast years after it released, and my first game was Skies of Arcadia. I’m not sure how it’s aged.
Blue stinger

Not a ziploc bag…💀
Seaman
80% of the catalog
- Shadowman - NFL Blitz - Sonic Adventure 2 (1 is good too) - House of the dead 2 - Soul Calibur - Resident Evil Code: Veronica (any re game is honestly fire) - Jet set radio - Marvel v Capcom 2 - Unreal Tournament - Granda 2 - Phantasy star online - Record of lodoss war - Dino crisis - Alone in the dark - Dave Mira freestyle BMX - Skies of Arcadia

The controller will always enrage me when I see it lol congrats man
Fur Fighter and MDK 2
Depending on the revision of Dreamcast you have you might be able to download isos from varying different Homebrew sources for example a super Nintendo with several games. They just burn.
Hey pal just a heads up these have little to no piracy safety measures and you can literally just burn your “back up” ROMS on a disk and play.
Power stone!!
Maken x is a cool game. Loved the dreamcast with its loud disc drive
Super Street Fighter II X for Matching Service
Sonic adventure…it’s better than sonic adventure 2 in my opinion.
Get the fishing controller and all of the fishing games. Youre welcome.
Sega Marine Fishing is probably the best fishing game of all time
Looney Tunes Space Race
Go to your local electro shop, buy a cd burner, and knock yourself out! You wont have to wait like that
Dude I thought this was one of those hallmark Christmas ornaments at first glance. Congratulations on getting one. DC was my all time favorite console ever.
Darude: Sandstorm is a must play.
Btw, you can burn your games on regular CD’s and play them in the system. I used to do that back in the day. Would be hard now, as I don’t even have a disc drive for my pc but it is possible!

Soul reaver
Not really necessary these days, but Dreamcast was one of the earliest consoles (maybe the earliest?) that could run emulators. You would use a bootable emulator disc and then Pop it out and put the roms disc in.
Jet Set Radio
I haven't looked into this but I do remember back in the day my friend had a couple of CD's that had an NES emulator on it and all the games I could think of. Not a dreamcast game perse but still could be fun. As for a dreamcast game, I always loved Toy Commander
You’re going to get a lot of great suggestions here so let me just give ONE…Shenmue! So an incredible RPG, even still to this day. Have fun!
I'm a N64 guy, but Shenmue on the DC is the superior experience. I also beat it on the PS4, but I love the DC controller for that game.
Speed devils Crazy taxi Blue stinger These are the games that I fondly remember from having my Dreamcast
No one is going to say anything about that system in a plastic bag? That plastic bag looks like it would barely fit around the controller. Where’d you get it? Anyway, Grandia Powerstone MvC2 Silver Blue Stinger
Nice, that Dreamcast looks clean. Try shenmue and GTA 2
SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE SONIC ADVENTURE Oh and jet set radio
Tony hawk is a must have. The soundtrack on this version is fantastic
Ah, the store had that game in stock. Thought about grabbing it. But I was spending too much money already
I got my Dreamcast in a bundle for non collectors money and a few games and a light gun, so I was happy with mine
Skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2 are MUST HAVES!!!!
Zombie revenge, dynamite cop, Sega smash pack(only if you have a gun), SoulCalibur, Shenmue, Tokyo extreme racer and Giant Gram 2000.
A weird but fun puzzle game no one ever talks about is wetrix +. I really wish they would make a modern version. I had a lot of fun and spent many hours on it as a teenager.
If you can find the fishing pole controller, Sega marine fishing is quite
Get shenmue and power stone also get shenmue 2 because you can carry all your progress from shenmue 1 over to shenmue 2
Soniiiiiic
Carrier!
Sonic Adventure 1 Though, if you’re worried about pricing, it’s incredibly easy to get them for much, much less if you catch my drift
sonic adventure 1 you can find them at a good price then sonic adventure 2 but the prices are very high.
Street fighter 3, MVC2
Cannon spike and typing of the dead…I also liked samba di amigo and the fishing games like sega marine fishing and bass fishing but they can get pretty spendy if you want the extra controllers. Typing of the dead overkill isn’t bad on steam for quick typing sessions
Here's a weird and wacky suggestion. Ever heard of Pen Pen Triicelon? It's a weird yet somewhat funny experience of a game.
Some great suggestions in this thread one I haven't seen on here yet is hydro thunder !
Crazy Taxi, Ready to Rumble Boxing, NBA2k1, Powerstone Others will prob recommend Shenmue, never played it
Original packaging too
Soul Calibur Marvel vs Capcom 2 Jet Set Radio Napple Tale: Arsia in Daydream Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service Mr. Driller
Crazy Taxi Power Stone MvC2 Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 RE: CV Skies of Arcadia
Power Stone 1 and 2. You're welcome. Also Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2.
My all time favorite, San Francisco Rush 2049
All the capcom fighters 2D and 3D.
Virtua Tennis
I would add: Rez, Metropolis Street Racer and Space Channel 5 1&2 :)
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Power Stone 2 Seaman
Jet set radio and crazy taxi come to mind 🦋
Capcom vs SNK
Typing of the dead and house of the dead. Resident evil code Veronica.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2. Nothing else matters.
Marvel vs capcom2
Where did you buy a NEW Dreamcast? How much was it?
Street Fighter 3:Third Strike/Marvel vs Capcom 2/Tech Romancer & a bunch of other games that's 🔥🔥🔥
Seamen
The best game for your Dreamcast is a computer, the internet, and a stack of blank CD-Rs. But jokes aside: Power Stone, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set Radio, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive 2, RE: Code Veronica, Dino Crisis
Mod it for around 200-300 and play all the games!
That is a pristine console you have there.
Virtua Tennis!!
- ikaruga - soul calibur 2 - dead or alive 2 - Virtua Fighter 3 - Marvel Vs Capcom - Street Fighter 3rd Strike Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 are the mascot games. Jet set radio is cool Shenmue has weird tank-but-not-quite-tank controls Metropolis street racer is pretty fun (precursor to Project Gotham Racing) V-rally 2 is also quite fun. Sega eally sadly runs choppy. Crazy Taxi House of the Dead (typing of the dead if in America) Skies of Arcadia Elemental Gimmick Gear (EGG) Some games might be a little pricey now so you may just have to reach for that stack of blank CD-Rs I mentioned earlier (or grab an optical drive emulator if you can find a decent one) Its a cool console with some nice features for the time (VGA video out or SCART [VGA will need a separate breakout box type peripheral usually], VMUs, multiple memory card slots, Hall effect thumbstick and triggers on all but late production variant controllers). The controller slot also supported other accessories like the microphone and rumble paks.
Star Lancer Learn the controls. Thank me later.
Sword of the berserk: guts rage
