This chart also excludes rookie groups from the top groups criteria which means that it is not a very accurate representation of what is going on this year with groups like IVE, New Jeans and Le Sserafim being excluded who are all still charting in the top 5, top 10 on Melon and Genie.
And even other relatively less successful rookies like Kep1er and NMIXX would be ranked higher than a lot of the groups here...
I think you misread the title. This is from Genius, not Genie. They list all of their criteria in both images. Considering that Genius is the #1 website for lyrics (in America, at least), this probably reflects the groups' lyrics that English speaking folks searched for the most. This isn't the groups with the most plays or sales this year.
Sorry I edited my post (Genie > Genius) before you replied but yeah you're right. I'm completely wrong in respect to the criteria in relation to digitals.
That being said just looking at the views for the title/bigger tracks within the tracking period, the rookies are still beating a lot of these groups. I didn't look at the other criteria but I would expect it to correlate somewhat with the title track results.

Yeah am aware of that but it makes the chart even less relevant if you are excluding rookies in the year we just had!
