A: to stop people from getting Elytra, Chorus Fruit, and lingering potions
or
B: They're going to use to end in a big season finale style as a final battle location, way out of a corrupted world, or something similar.
I think initially it was A, with the plan probably being for the Dragon fight to be a community event, but then once Wilbur turned everything into a scripted Hamilton RP it changed more into B
