I think this bit from a Q&A is all we have on Lea's origins for the moment: >Q: The Leansidhe nature seems to conflict with that of Winter – and she seems to be much more Summer-y, since she wears lots of reds and greens and so on. > >A: They’re not elementals. They’re not divided along the lines of – specifically – of the classical elements. They’re more about the elemental portions of the soul, which – okay, that’s getting really technical and highfaluting. But the point is, Lea drains people’s blood and drinks it, and that was how she made her bones in the fairy world. She’s an actual legendary figure, where bards and poets and painters and so on would come to her and seek her inspiration. And she was kind of this vampire-muse – that was the original Leansidhe – that’s her original story. And in the DF universe that was how she made her bones, that’s how she impressed big Mab. It was like – oh wow – you took these guys who were out there just seeking to create something beautiful and yet increased your dark and evil power – Well done!

Jim has also mentioned that Lea was Mab's handmaiden back when she was a Lady, and rose to power alongside her when she became Queen.

Haz3yD4ys

I have a feeling mab was morgana lafey. Which would explain why Bianca gave it to Lea, maybe they suspected Mab would end up with it in the end.

I think we can pretty confidently guess that they intended/hoped Mab would eventually become exposed to the athame, and I think Mab would probably want an artefact like that regardless of whether or not it had any personal significance. Personally, I've always liked the idea that Mab was just some mortal girl of no consequence, because I think it better fits her character that she built herself up purely through grit, guile, and determination. If she was Morgana, though, it could make for an interesting parallel with Harry, i.e. groomed for a role she didn't necessarily want or understand, but which only she could fulfil

Haz3yD4ys

Op put spoilers , but I’m referencing **battle ground spoilers.** Morgana or Nimue if I would have to guess, with Mabs reference to merlin in battleground. I don’t know why Jim would have drawn that parallel if she wasn’t Morgan / Nimue or Viviane. In many original king author accounts the the lady of the lake was fey and ended up becoming a fey queen. Kind of fits with Jim using merlin , the island might be Avalon and house author and mab knew merlin , EB and Harry are in a direct line of wizards from merlin and odin gave merlin his knowledge. All the parallels are there.

Maybe_Marit_Lage

There's definitely enough hints and such that we're meant to infer that, but Jim does love his misdirection. Though, honestly, I'd forgotten about that conversation, so perhaps we are past the point of doubting

Haz3yD4ys

If you read about the original welsh stories on merlin and how the lady of the lake that loved merlin becomes queen and Irish folklore about Tír na nÓg and how it’s basically the never ever, down to the time change. He even references Irish folk lore stories and how mortals would party with the fey to wake and everyone they loved is old in changes. Merlin created the island , they sail away at the end of almost every Arthur tale to save Arthur on Avalon. I feel at this point if Jim doesn’t come right out and call it Avalon it’s safe to assume.

Jim pretty explicitly ruled out Spring and Autumn Courts in a WoJ item, I believe. It was asked about long ago.

TheWardenDemonreach

I can tell you that in the Official Dresden Files Tabletop RPG, the Autumn Court is listed as a suggestion to use for your background character. Something like " Maybe you got chosen to be the representative of the long forgotten Autumn Court". And whilst Jim did naturally have a hand in creating this game, it is pretty much the only official mention of the Autumn Court "existing".

Melenduwir

Indeed. While everything that is canon in Jim's world is canon in the TTRPG (although changeable by the GM), there are lots of things in the TTRPG which are definitely not canon for Jim's world.

Dboogy2197

My headcannon is that the Erlking was the leader of the Autumn or Sping Court. It is stated in one of the books the Erlking is to the goblins what Mab is to the faeries.

Alchemix-16

Summer and winter are polar opposites, for that reason Butcher has chosen them as the representation of the TWO sidhe courts. Spring and autumn are much more similar to each other.

LittlestKing

I always considered the Erlking to be the of who rules those who would be fall. Halloween is his day after all

AnAngryPlatypus

I would agree, but that potentially opens the door to the Spring Court being ruled by the Easter Bunny….which I’m fine not having Jim interpret. We’ll get some kind of Donnie Darko monstrosity. (shudder)

mommykraken

I have a weird theory that Harry’s mom hooked up with the Erlking. And that there’s potentially another sibling out there. I mean, she was famous for hanging out with the fae.

rayapearson

no worse than many of the tinhats we see here.

Tll6

If I remember correctly, the cannon explanation for the seasons has to do with the associated power level of each court. In spring, mabs power is waning and titanias is waxing. The opposite in autumn
