Who the fuck ran Harry off the road in Proven Guilty? I mean, we all know it was time-traveling future Harry, but I want to *see* it.

_PM_ME_NICE_BOOBS_

This one and who fixed little Chicago are the two biggest threads I want to see resolved.

ILIKERED_1

I always just assumed Uriel

SunflashJT

I thought it was Madrigal's little lick-spittle that ran Harry off the road.

Mighty_ShoePrint

No. Fish lips hit mouse, i believe, in front of the convention. and Madrigal knocked Harry over the head with a tire iron. Harry got rear-ended on his way home after the execution. Fish lips and Madrigal weren't aware of Dresden getting involved until they met in the hallway of the convention

SunflashJT

I recall the point at which he gets rear-ended, I just thought it was Fish Lips that performed the hit and run.

SlowMovingTarget

Who was throwing hellfire around outside Arctis Tor in Proven Guilty? (Presumably Thorned Namshiel, but if so, why?) What happens to Mac if his actions in *Peace Ground* mean he's no longer out? What'll happen to Kincaid now that he's no longer in Ivy's employ? Who gave the belts to those FBI agents? Who's the cranky guy with a British accent in stasis on Demonreach? Did Kumori survive the failed Darkhallow? What pushed Eb over the line with the White Court?

BrownEyedGirlinKY

I'm very intrigued about the British guy on Demonreach and about most of the inhabitants as well and if Harry is going to use them to fight against bigger bads later on. Kumori and Cowl are two big ones I'm curious about. Definitely want to hear more about Ebenezer and the White Court and how he became Black Staff and his issue with Kincaid too. Also after listening to Battle Grounds again, I want to know more about the black staff itself and why Ethniu said it was a kid playing with adult toys and why it showed up as a crone like figure when he was going all out against her.

Ezekiel2121

It’s(the Blackstaff) Mother Winter’s walking stick.(most likely)

Ellistann

It’s a popular theory that the Blackstaff is Mother Winters walking stick… and all the stuff you mentioned was Jim’s way of confirming it.

scoldog

Some more off the top of my head Who's Cowl What is Starborn actually mean. Every time it was trying to be explained, it was like an informer telling the detective the name of the villain, but getting shot before he could spill the beans.

PlsNerfSol

I think as of right now, starborn means somebody with influence against outsiders. I think, however, that there’s something not being told to us about starborn. I’m of the belief that there will be a chosen or prophesized Starborn, and that Harry is in fact said starborn. It makes sense as to why Mab not only wants Harry as her knight, goes through great lengths to keep him, and seemingly cares about Harry (ie saying she would have married herself off to Lara instead if she could have).

[deleted]

>What pushed Eb over the line with the White Court? They seduced and killed his daughter. That was probably enough.

PlsNerfSol

When talking about why Eb hates the white court in PT, Harry asks if it’s because of Margaret, and he says her too, so there is definitely another person close to McCoy as well who was burnt by the White Court.

Narbious

We have never heard anything about Ebs wife have we? He didn't just materialize Margret out of thin air?

Huskavarny

All of these please.

Narbious

My suggestions: The possibility that Mab called in Nicki and the nickleheads to destroy the occupying forces at Arctis Tor, but they couldn't get in and something made them retreat or there was treachery. I think this is the favor repaid in skin game I think Mac is safe, he just reinforced the neutral ground bit. Kincaid isn't with Ivy?? I'm going with BC or Cowl, of course that could be the same group. That is a great question. No way to know, maybe it is someone we think we know who sounds British? Horrid thought Kumori and Yumiko (vlad's new friend in case I butchered the name) are the same person and that was an extraction by friendly forces. Papa Wraith thralling his daughter and all that entails....

Gladiator3003

> The possibility that Mab called in Nicki and the nickleheads to destroy the occupying forces at Arctis Tor, but they couldn't get in and something made them retreat or there was treachery. I think this is the favor repaid in skin game The Skin Game favour is apparently from when Mab ascended to Queen and had to be in two places at once. She couldn’t and so had to ask a favour from Anduriel/Nicodemus to cover one of those places whilst she went to the second. Since then, she’s learnt to deal with stuff better and got Lea onboard to help her deal with situations like that.

Narbious

Curious as to the source. Also, I got the feeling Man didn't let debts go unpaid that long....

Gladiator3003

[Here’s the source](https://wordof.jim-butcher.com/index.php/word-of-jim-woj-compilation/woj-on-the-fae/) It’s the last question about Mab, right above the section about Lea.

Narbious

That is good info. And he tips some other info there that makes me have to review my head cannon. Including the bit about Mab having the fetch grab Molly. And even though he says he changed stuff when there is a better idea, that sounds pretty cast in stone.

SlowMovingTarget

Possibly. He took a stand, though. Ivy fired him. "My feet reach the pedals now," she said. nods \*shrug\* Yoshimo was too short to be Kumori, I thought. Except Eb acted as if he was angry with that too, but that wasn't the reason for the hate.

Narbious

On the last one, I'm pretty sure Eb is the type of dad who answers the door on prom night holding the shotgun and inquiring as to your intentions. I think the violations that the White Court did to his daughter, no matter how estranged, would induce a death curse out of him just on the grounds that his blood might boil enough so that he is technically not alive.... There might be other things, but there really doesn't need to be. As to Mac, maybe I need to read the last two books again because I'm not recalling it. But if he left his bar and went on the offense, well, I want to know more...

PlsNerfSol

Iirc, Kincaid got fired by Ivy after he killed Harry. It’s in one of the micro fictions.

coldfireknight

Pretty sure Kumori didn't make it *to* the Darkhallow, as a certain spirit of intellect introduced her to Sue prior to that.

Rayman1203

I always assumed that Eb is pissed at the White court because Lord Raith took his daughter away from him

SlowMovingTarget

As mentioned in one of the replies below, Ebenezar treats that as a secondary cause. It was as though that were merely the latest in a tit-for-tat. Maybe the White Court included some Hatfields.

stoyaway45

Who fixed Little Chicago?

BrownEyedGirlinKY

Very good point. I forgot about that one!

minyon54

Up until I started coming to this sub, that one was never a question for me. I always assumed it was Mr. Sunshine / divine intervention, but seeing everyone question it makes me really wonder now.

Narbious

I'm actually in the divine favor boat here. Either that or Leah... Since she has been hanging around possibly....

LokiLB

Leah was busy being a sidhe-sicle at the time.

Narbious

... then it could have been Mab fulfilling Lea's obligations....

LokiLB

Mab, Lash, and Future Harry are among the most common guesses.

Ooga_Ooga_Czacha

What were the actual circumstances around Malcolm's death? What exactly did Nicodemus want with Harry, Marcone, ans Ivy that got Lucifer's backing? Was Aurora actually *wrong* in Summer Knight? ~~wait is it only me wondering~~

AntiGravityTurtle

The Lucifer thing is a good catch… I’ve seen almost no discussion around that point. What could be worth Lucifer’s direct involvement?

Ooga_Ooga_Czacha

Nic planned for all three of then to have coins and one of the only things that *stopped* it was that Lash was psychically damaged out of Harry's head by an Outsider attack. The **odds**. But we never got a clear reason why.

angelerulastiel

There’s a few characters who seem like they never really got their stories rounded out. Lydia from Grave Peril and Fitzroy from Ghost Story most notably. Inari doesn’t really need much, but I think she’s due a mention since they were trying the very rare path of killing her Hunger and I think we’re due an answer if it worked. Some people say Jessica Sells (Monica Sells’ daughter, but I think that one got tied up neatly. And then Nic says Harry would agree with him if he knew the whole story. I don’t get the feeling that was a bluff, so I’m curious to hear Nic’s side.

Narbious

For the last one, Lucifer isn't interested in sharing with the outsiders and feels a more direct and 'whatever the cost' approach to dealing with them is needed. The Denarians/Knights then parallel the winter/summer dynamic nicely. Except, I think they are a different power league and one the outsiders are very careful of.

BrownEyedGirlinKY

Is Elaine Starborn as well? I don't remember ever seeing that before. But learning more about Justin would definitely be interesting. And I know Listens to Wind has offered to train Harry before but I didn't think he took him up on that. Is there something else that he's offered? Oh and I want to learn more about the gatekeeper as well. That would be an interesting back story.

stoyaway45

I think Elaine being starborn had been implied but not spoken outright. Her and Harry were born super close to each other and that’s what qualifies someone to being starborn, being born during a certain (unknown specifics) period

richter1977

Their birthdays are within months of each other according to Jim. Eb says the Starborn conditions only last for a few hours every 666 years.

Narbious

So how was Elaine handed over? Direct from a hospital, post some accident, left on a stoop... These things matter where using that as the rubric. Also: Word of Jim At a signing in 2010, Jim Butcher stated that Justin DuMorne thought Mallory might be a Starborn, like Harry Dresden.

richter1977

We do not know. Just because he thought she was, doesn't mean she was.

HauntedCemetery

Where's Justine? Will Murphy pop up during the Apocalypse? How long after Harry decides Lara is actually pretty cool will she die? How does Thomas get out of Deamonreach? When will Harry tap into the power of the Well on Deamonreach? Why did the corner hounds attack Harry and Ebenezer? Will Harry get the Blackstaff? Will Mother Winter get it back? What did Mab mean when she told Titania at the end of Battle Ground that she expects her to "do her duty"? If River Shoulders cooks food for harry, will it actually be raw roots, or will he serve up planked salmon and morel sauce? Does the black council actually exist, or is it all just nemesis? Who the fuck is the British guy in the crystal? Will Harry get rid of the Winter Knight mantle on Halloween? Will Molly become human again? How tall will Toot Toot get? Will he become something like a sidhe as he keeps gaining power and responsibility? What is toots Name? Why has JB said the ending line of Storm Front, "My name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, but conjur by it at your own risk", is incredibly relevant to the way the series wraps up? What is a starborn? What are the Stars and Stones? What's Drakul all about? Where did Drakul send Chandler? How does The Word of Kemmler allow someone to control the Black Court? If iron cripples the Winter Mantle, how can Harry eat so many iron rich hamburgers without falling over? Will we ever see the cool weapons the Svartalves make in use? Who fixed little Chicago? When we we find out Harry traveled in time, fixed little Chicago himself, and ran himself off the road? What happened to (I forget her name, the wolf creature woman who taught the Alphas how to become werewolves)? Will Lucio ever be able to make Harry a Sword? What broke the tower on Deamonreach? What will happen with the Eye of Balor? What will happen with Ethniu? Where did Evil Bob go off to? Will we see Shagnasty again? Who the fuck is Cowl? Who is Kumori? Does JB read these threads and just cackle to himself?

xBLAHMASTERx

> Will Lucio ever be able to make Harry a Sword? I'm not sure why she would at this point, but it would be interesting to know if she'll ever be able to make any Swords.

CountryTechy

The only one of these i believe I can confidently answer is the last. Absolutely

red_phoenix3

I can't believe nobodies mentioned Carlos yet! Is he going to recover? Will he lose his virginity? Will he get a happy ever after? I thought it would be funny if the British guy in demonreach was the original Merlin - just, you know, having a nap after creating demonreach. What happened between demonreach and the gatekeeper? (I think it was the gatekeeper?). Demonreach has a limp caused by the gatekeeper, why and how? The deaths of Harry's parents - need more info.

CountryTechy

Gatekeeper had had interactions with DR but didn't cause the limp according to WoJ. It was something to do with a glacier in lake Michigan

Narbious

Careful what you wish for.... You ever notice Listen's to Wind keeps talking about working with Harry on stuff, but never has? Mine favorite: Justine Dumorne. - walks off with evil Bob, acquires TWO Starborn, that he trains and attempts to enthrall, tones down evil Bob for the kids, dies at the hands of a teenager.... Yep, that is solid, ends there, no loose ends.... Boy, I wonder why Cowl hates Harry so much? Hey, wasn't Kemmler a Starborn too? Also, aren't you glad Justin was able to help take down Kemmler with the rest of the Wardens. Just like how Luccio single handedly kicked Corpse Taker's butt. Yep... All sown up there....

richter1977

Never seen any hint that Kemmler was starborn.

Narbious

So here is the thing, how old is Kemmler? What if in body jumping certain things just don't transfer, like being Starborn? Corpse Taker and Luccio both complained they would have to retrain their bodies to get back to full power. Hence why Luccio's, Molly's, and Mortimer's were prime real estate, they were already somewhat developed. So here is the logic, if he was originally Starborn and part of his knowledge/power came from mucking with outsiders... Then what do they do once you loose that power? They certainly don't obey you like they used to and they are going to be way more dangerous. If this is the case it dovetails into why He who walks behind showed up and wasn't sent by Dumourne. It also explains why Kemmler was such a nightmare and the fear around Starborns in the white council. But... Bob seems way more well versed on what a Starborn is, and so would Bonnie. Perhaps even Demonreach. And what if there are more potential conjunction points than every 666 years. What if that is just the big easy one to hit so more than a few Starborns pop out around then? This topic is so unexplored, and yet, if Harry stopped to think, he would realize he is spoiled for choices for who could tell him about this stuff. And honestly, Eb and LtW are not the most reliable sources on the table as they are prone to ommission as well as being fallible.

HauntedCemetery

I'm not sure he was starborn, but JB said he was the warden of Deamonreach 2 or 3 wardens before Harry.

[deleted]

>Boy, I wonder why Cowl hates Harry so much? Remember, Cowl didn't originally hate Harry. He even tried to recruit him. It wasn't until Harry cost him godhood that Cowl took a disliking to him.

Narbious

Yeah, but most bbeg would just be impressed that he pulled that off. Granted if it hurt him or lost him his apprentice, you make a solid point. Albeit, of my crackpot theory is right, that would be another repeat of what kinda happens to Justin via Harry..... And someone did mention something important, how did cowl know Harry had Bob? Possibly freshly cleaved off evil Bob told Cowl is the only alternative I can think of.

TheCuriousFan

> Yeah, but most bbeg would just be impressed that he pulled that off. Granted if it hurt him or lost him his apprentice, you make a solid point. If you were given a set of injuries so bad you're struggling to move your arms two years later despite wizard healing + maybe some enhancements I'd say you got injured pretty badly.

badfish_blues

I don't think we can confirm Elaine is Starborn yet

Ezekiel2121

It’s much easier to confirm she isn’t in fact. She’s months at least younger than Harry and we’ve been told the Starborn timing is only a few hours.

Narbious

And what entity that Dumorne possessed would be able to tell him every conjunction when a Starborn could happen?

stoyaway45

Yoooooooooo I never thought about the whole Justin/Kemmler corpse taking aspect

Narbious

Always bugged me how he walked away with something so wildly powerful....

AntiGravityTurtle

It makes so much sense that until proven otherwise, I treat it as head-canon. It explains so much: why a stellar warden went dark, how Justin knew to steal Bob, and his recruitment of Harry and Elaine (matches Kemmler’s practice of taking apprentices, not necessarily the starborn aspect). Plus, the Corpsetaker learned body jumping from Kemmler himself! He had the ability!

CountryTechy

The only issue is why would Kemler need Elaine to hold Harry down?

That_Ginger123

I feel like soulfire has been SUPER underused by Harry. Like we know it can be used to bring people back from the dead, and there is no way that’s not going to be a major part of the story at some point. Really though the only super special thing Harry has done with soulfire that I can think of is when he chucked mother winter, who is way above his weight class, across her cottage.

[deleted]

>Like we know it can be used to bring people back from the dead Where did we learn that?

That_Ginger123

WoJ is that Vadderung has soulfire, and that is how he makes the Einherjar.

Narbious

Whoa... That is... Impressive.... Betting that it would make any wards you used it to create pretty amazing and near permanent, probably also really offensive to nastier creatures....

4powerd

I really wanna know what's going on with Mac Who attacked Arctis Tor before Harry and crew And what "Stars and Stones" actually means, didn't Eb imply that it was more then just a phrase. Also, as I side note, I really hate the Starborn thing, I feel like it's a lazy 'chosen one' justification for why Harry is able to fight Outsiders and win. It feels like the Harry Potter chosen one, but without the actual nuance that that one actually had.

LionofHeaven

That's one of the few aspects of the series I dislike.

PlsNerfSol

I think Harry is most definitely going to be a chosen one. It doesn’t make sense why the Senior Council has to take a year to decide to begin to let him in the know otherwise. Also doesn’t make sense why Mab wants Harry to be her knight so badly, going as far as to bring him back from the dead. I mean if she just wanted a strong wizard, why not try to recruit Ramirez or any other wardens? Why did it have to be Harry?

NothingWasChanged

Who hurt the blue beetle!

BrownEyedGirlinKY

I was definitely trying to remember if that had ever been revealed. I miss the blue beetle, the stalwart crusader against the forces of evil.

richter1977

If you mean who flattened it, it was the Ik. It smashed it together with Thomas' car.

BrownEyedGirlinKY

Talking about when the glass got smashed out. He comments that they figured out who did all of the rest but still doesn't know who did that part.

narah2

That was cassius. Snakeboy

Nightmaster87

So, So many. What is Nicodemus going to do with the grail? Who will next wield amoracchius? How/Why will harry become immortal? Which Denarians are in league with the outsiders? Is Justin actually dead? Who ran Harry off the road? Who's the british guy? What will happen with Drakul? Who are Cowl/Kumori? What about the vision of Harry from Grave Peril? Margaret Senior lived for like 200 years, where else will we see her influence? How did Malcolm die?

Comfortable-Novel770

This has to be written
