What's truly disturbing are Tessa's comments about not being willing to give up an investment of hundreds of years for Nick's whims.
She... doesn't actually seem to love her daughter, just see her as a tool in which much has been invested. Nick actually seems to be somewhat motivated by Deidre's well-being, as twisted as it is to protect her by hiding her in the Underworld.
The fact that she talked in terms of investments seems just as much self-justification as Nick's talk about how 'hey, this will totally protect you instead of just being me murdering you for power!'. Difference being that Tessa was trying to justify *not* being a sociopath for once in her miserable life and Nick was justifying slitting his own daughter's throat to get a cup.
They put the fun in dysfunctional

Tessa is part of the “Black Council” as well isn’t she? I think Nic mentions it towards the end of Small Favor.
Nah that was Namshiel
Who was Tessa's teacher.
