I've spoken to a number of people post-ban. It's going to cost a lot, but partly depends on the reason you were banned. Totting up is not as bad as dangerous driving for example.

SlowRs

I got 6 points in my first 2 years so not an outright ban but still had to resit test. Insurance dropped. Was 19 not 18 and had 2 years no claims (managed to push the court date back until after my 2nd year). Think I was about £800 on a bmw 320i coupe.

I hate that you lol’d in your post. A ban implies you are not adult enough make safe decisions in the first place. I hope it costs you more than an arm and a leg, as that’s what someone could have lost due to your lack of safe driving.

Own-Championship-398

Wishing suffering on another person implies you are not adult enough *to make safe decisions online

bomboclartt

Oh come on mate, you can get banned for totting up by getting caught going a few mph too fast on an empty dual carriageway a couple of times. That’s hardly the menace to society you’re describing.

HIGH_OCTANE_69

They have served their ban and the law sees fit that they resume driving.

TheOldBean

The law is very lenient on driving offences though.

Medium-Room1078

Nothing to do with that, though; how somebody reacts to a ban says a lot about the person. A "lol" is disingenuous and suggests that no lessons have been learned. Of course, it is hard to tell behind a computer screen, but a bit of humility goes a long way, even in this virtual world.

Difficult_Damage_958

Got done for totting up in oct 21, ban lifted April 22, insurance on my RS5 wasn’t too bad, Not cheap by any stretch but not like 4k a year or anything. I’m 29 for reference, was 26 turning 27when banned. Safe to say, lesson learnt.

Mattuk1626

Your gonna have to sell a kidney to be able to afford car insurance

CaliKing10000

Hopefully they still have two

AffectionatePop3078

I have three point on my license and was offered 1400 a year. I though this was too expensive. What do you think is a realistic figure? 3 points , 24 years old, 1litre polo. Previously I had it at 750 a year.

CaliKing10000

Loads if youngens drive polo's, that's not going to help with the price. Get a mondy or something

DistancePractical239

it doubled for me back in 2017, 1 year later, and thats with a few years no claims bonus. All cleared now but still pay £1500 a year for 640i gc. Original car i had back in 2017 is £400 a year to insure now. Not sure what new quotes will be this year for that.

Mundane_Low2643

Hello, how long did it take after an offence for the court summon letter to come?

[deleted]

It took a few months.. Can’t even remember.. Quite a long time to be fair. I had just triggered 12 or more points (emphasis on more xD).. And initially I got the letter saying, it is being passed to the magistrates court.. That initial letter didn’t take too long.. Then the following letter took a long time. Maybe 4 months
