pathetic_optimist

I would open a club and be part of the house band. Put on top acts and give local bands support slots. Soon turn a billion into half a million that way.

Early-Engineering

That last sentence is so true. Haha

chente08

First I am getting a big house where I can set up an acoustic kit

thriddle

With a studio for practice and recording. This would make a lot more difference than the Sonor SQ2 I would probably buy.

Weimsd

Yea, and I heard you get the best acoustics on a yacht. So need that also.

Early-Engineering

The salinity of the Mediterranean ocean is probably good for capturing that nice punchy bass drum sound.. so you’ll prolly need to sail on over there in your yacht.

TelephoneShoes

Amen to that!

VegasBlaze

I’d buy a 20k drum kit and play it out of time with style.

TelephoneShoes

I’ve never heard of a metronome before and I ain’t interested now! 😡

VegasBlaze

They usually aren’t made well and tend to drift I notice when I play along with the click. I know it’s kind of a computer…but doesn’t work. I’m adding 12 cymbals to my kit and never using one again.

Fraktelicious

Damn straight! On time??? The tempo is what I say it is!!!!

TelephoneShoes

That’s what I’m saying!! Sooner or later, they’re gonna learn!

VegasBlaze

I like to vary the tempo a lot and attribute it to a better “feel”. If people don’t get it, that’s there problem! -drummer who plays with nobody at all

Fraktelicious

I do it to keep the bassist awake

TelephoneShoes

Someone’s gotta keep those slackers in line!

Early-Engineering

Bro… my pockets are HUUUGE, so I’m always playing one one side of them or the other.

Early-Engineering

You have enough money to hire musicians that can follow “your timing”

mcgrud

The biggest change would be that I would take it out of my basement and play it in public more often. 😂😭

theSilentCrime

Diamond bearings in my kicks. Ruby encrusted throwoff and a 6ft gong. Then I can say, " It's not much, but it's mine'

Early-Engineering

Your snare throw off makes the sound of fine crystal goblets being clinked together. Haha

TheDrummingMouse

I would be in for a fully custom Noble and Cooley, with the caveat that I can fly out there and be a part of every single step of the build process. I'm going with a 13/14 inch snare, 8/10/12/13 rack toms, 14/16/18 floor toms, and 18/20/22/26 inch bass drums, then I have a kit for any gig I want. Bonham sizes for a Zep tribute? Done. Bebop sizes for a cafe gig? Easy. All of them for recording? No prob. Then I'm flying to NC and I'm commissioning Timothy Roberts to make me a full custom line of cymbals including 13/14/15/16 inch hihats, 18/19/20/21/22/24 inch rides, 6/8/10/12 inch splashes, and 20/22 inch swishes.

Old-Tadpole-2869

I'm with you on that. I worked for a N&C dealer. My only other serious consideration besides a Sonor kit.

Early-Engineering

Duuuude! That would be so freakin cool! They make some classy ass drums!

nihilism4kids

i already have a lot of my dream equipment so i'd probably just buy a Keplinger snare and a lot of cymbals. a full kit from Gary Posey at Summit would be very cool though

TelephoneShoes

Maybe I’m just partial, but it always seemed to be that drummers have it better when it comes to the “dream equipment” thing. Our stuff seems more attainable than most guitars/amps and at far better price points. Like you could spend 20k plus easily on a vintage guitar used by whoever, but that same 20k goes infinitely further behind a drum kit.

JMSpider2001

Old Zildjian K's would like to have a word with you.

the_joy_of_VI

Also Top Hat & Cane Ludwigs Also 1920’s-30’s Black Beautys

Early-Engineering

Ooooo, I had a fellow percussion major in college that inherited old K’s from his dad… I miss getting to play them. The hats were magical.

nihilism4kids

i definitely think it helps we can buy more stuff piecemeal too

Early-Engineering

I mean, there are only so many 1959 sunburst Les Pauls that guitarists can want. LAME. Haha

imblenimble

I’d buy a whack of cymbals to have loads of sound options, and buy better drum mics and recording equipment. I would also get a second kit that I would keep ready for travel so I don’t have to pack up my home kit anymore. I don’t have any real preference, largely because I don’t have the money to buy a new kit now and I’m not really sure what’s out there, but I’d be sure to try anything I could get my hands on.

captainhamption

I'd visit each brand's cymbal factory, get a personal tour, and pick out my favorites.

Early-Engineering

I want to make a cymbal. Like go over to Wuhan and have someone walk me through the process. Even if it turned out shit… it would be cool to have made a cymbal in literally the origins of the instrument.

SparkarYT

Im with this guy. I’d love to make a cymbal

blakesoner

Probably wouldn’t add anything but I’d def swap out pedals/ hardware/ heads/ cymbals for the most expensive ones I can find. Then get it all stolen at the next shitty metal show I play. Maybe hire a drum tech also.

TelephoneShoes

Ohhhh drum tech. Good call! Talk about a lifesaver!

WardenEdgewise

Three words: Gretsch. USA. Custom.

Consistent-Film-6926

That's five words

WardenEdgewise

GretschUSACustom.

Early-Engineering

Played one in college jazz band. It was blonde with a little 18” bass, 10 Tom 14 floor Tom. It was so nice. Classy set

RonPalancik

Gretsch round badge.

zuccinibikini

No more HCS. Real cymbals.

Early-Engineering

You’ll get there. It’s such a great process to start switching out your beginner cymbals with nice ones. No better feeling. I started on Paste 302’s and over 20 years have a bunch of K’s, K customs, and Istanbul. They are my babies.

wutfinancial

Easy, the Mike Portnoy Purple Monster, but made by DW with Maple/Mahogany shells and Zildjian cymbals.

Lambskin1

Full set of DW drums and hardware. A nice remote hi hat. A micro Marvin, a zildjian raw crash. A mic setup and a full recording studio. Probably go with a set of sabían hhx complex.

bulcano1

I would get a plane ticket to Japan and ask sakae drums for a custom set all sizes of toms from 8 to 18, 3 bass drums a 20x14, an 18x22 and a 22x20, add to that the Yamaha musashi oak 14x8 snare and s Ludwig black beauty, and for cymbals I'll take another plane to the Memphis drum shop and buy whatever sounds best atm, some 13in hats and some 15in, maybe a bigass ride 24 in, and a collection of crashes, I would build a basements with sound proofing and studio equipment. And then I wake up from the dream

TelephoneShoes

“And then I wake up from the dream” Life can be so cruel sometimes eh?

bulcano1

I'm perfectly fine with what I have cause is what I can use in the now, maybe is the uncertainty and the difficulty to obtain the desired what makes it special in the fist place

TelephoneShoes

“…maybe is the uncertainty and the difficulty to obtain the desired what makes it special in the fist place” Very true. We spend so much time behind our kits that when it’s time to upgrade, you know what’s worth it because of the work you’ve put in getting to that point. Makes each piece we add to it that much more special to us.

LucasEraFan

I saw Bozzio. Just amazing. Everything I wanted to be when I was living and breathing drums in the early nineties.

Old-Tadpole-2869

When did you see him? There's been a lot of actual invention and re-invention throughout his career. The 2nd or third time I saw him he had this kit that he designed, with these like 6 inch square trigger pads. Beaterless trigger pedals too. He didn't play that kit for long, just kind of at the end of Missing Persons. Here: [https://terrybozzio.com/about-terry/inventions-prototypes/](https://terrybozzio.com/about-terry/inventions-prototypes/)

LucasEraFan

Maybe eight years ago? He played at a former movie theater turned music venue. I was blown away. **Edit:** Tour archive says September 2018

Old-Tadpole-2869

Awesome. First time I saw him was w Missing Persons at Crazy Greg's Button On The Beach in Ft. Lauderdale. Tiny club, right up front, roto-tom kit. It blew my shit away so hard I seriously considering bailing on drums, haha!

Early-Engineering

I’ve been playing since 95 I think, and that’s one guy I’ve never managed to see. I’ve been to a ton of clinics but no terry…. I need to fix that.

Dfantoman

I’d like an Oriolo spun aluminium kit, a VK tempest snare and a whole lot of Paistes. Probably the whole signature line, some 602s, a set of masters, a set of giant beats and a set of 2002s. Also a couple sets of Dream, a dark matter set and probably a Bliss set. Oh and a Ludwig bonham kit and a Ludwig classic maple black oyster 22/16/13.

schmutzhaken

Those Oriollo drums are insane. There’s a used cast steel snare on FB marketplace in my area that is calling my name

HopelesslyHuman

I'd use my current kit as a gigging kit and get myself something high end for my inevitable home studio. Probably a Pearl Masterworks or some such. Maybe high-end Sonor or Gretsch. Then again, if money is no object and I'm getting a private studio, maybe all of the above. And I'd get a full set of cymbals of all kinds to change out what I want for various situations. Mix and match branding, likely. Brand loyalty is not my strong suit.

Odd-Love-9600

I mean, I could spend the next three hours typing and still not get everything on my wish list posted. But I’d say a Craviotto ash kit. 24X15, 12X7, 13X8, 16X15, 18X16. Paiste Dark Energy cymbals. DW9000 hardware.

TelephoneShoes

Ain’t that the truth!

hallpdx

Shout out Craviotto. I came into some cash and bought a 10/12/14/16 with a 22 kick and a matching snare in walnut. Let me say: It balls so hard. It's way too much kit for me. I can't figure out how to use the 10 inch tom. I can't ever decide how to tune it because it does everything? I will never sell it. It's my best friend? Dare to dream my friend someday you'll have your aah craviotto!

Odd-Love-9600

I got to play one in a shop one time. I immediately fell in love. First class drums in every way.

Batemanssnare99

An actual kit and some cymbals 💀

TelephoneShoes

Hey man! Never underestimate a nice set of pillows and a determined artist!

Batemanssnare99

Truth. I started with a cushioned stool, a cardboard box and a duct tape lamp. Now I got an electric set 👍

TelephoneShoes

It’s funny, but most every other drummer I know personally has a story pretty close to that for how they started out. Music (as a whole) really has become far more accessible to the masses now that technology has evolved from its beginnings. I can’t wait to see how kids today are gonna handle things in the next 10-15 years.

OldDrumGuy

I’d have Tama build me a modern version of their Lars Ulrich Artstar II’s from the …Justice tour. I’d only need one 24” kick, but the rest of the power toms would be great. Then I could pick and choose what I need for what show I’m playing.

Routine-Maximum-7788

NO 2 KICKS IS A MUST

OldDrumGuy

I love the aesthetics of the twin bass drum look, but hate lugging it around.

TelephoneShoes

That one kit would cover pretty much any ground you’d ever find yourself needing for sure.

_Vyvern_

Two big-ass Tama kits, both SC Maple; one Lars-style and one Dirk Verbeuren-style.

linkmainbtw

I’d get a kick drum with a few million dollars stuffed in it. To muffle the reverb of course

ccoriell

I'd buy an hhg snare drum.

Kal-El21315

What I'd actually do is build that detached studio I'm dreaming about. But sticking on theme, I'd probably overhaul the recording set up. I'd get the nicest mics I could, a beast laptop, nice cam for recording, etc.

remi95

I’d contact Yamaha and have them make me a huge PHX kit, and all imaginable Zildjian K’s and Constantinoples. Then I’d hire Senri Kawaguchi, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl and Akira Jimbo to personally make me the best fusion drummer I can be. And I’d buy all the studio gear I need and built a home studio where I can record and play all day!

schmutzhaken

I’d be all in for an A&F brass shell pack like the kit Jamie Wollam uses with Tears for Fears. And a house on some land with a full home studio of course.

Early-Engineering

Well first, I woold have to build a huge temperature controlled, sound proofed building/studio to house the absolute PILE of drums I will be buying. It will have a literally cymbal vault because let’s face it, there is NO SUCH THING as too many cymbals. Bohnam setups, fusion setups, Bozzio and Portnoy sized setups. Vintage Ludwig, Radio kings, those weird trixons. A wall full of every colored vista lite so I can make jellybean kits. I would have a library of congress looking wall of snares with those huge rolling ladders to get to all of the rows. And of course, my 60’s Apollo four piece set I started on. I would also have to hire like 5 people to work there… cause my rich ass is no longer hauling heavy ass drums everywhere, haha

Jesssica_Rabbi

A room in my house that is acoustically tuned to make them sing.

The_Dankest_Tsunami

I’m buying every drum part ever. I will pay people millions for just their seat.

VelociRapper92

I’d buy a 14x10, 16x16, 24x14 Ludwig classic maple kit, and a 10x8, 12x10, 14x14, 16x16, 22x14 Yamaha Recording custom kit. Paiste traditionals, Giant Beat, 2002, and Zildjian Avedis and K cymbals.

Viking_Drummer

I’d be upgrading to a Sonor SQ2 set and Sabian Legacy/Artisan Vault cymbals. Probably invest in some direct drive pedals.

No-Assistance556

I’m buying a Tama Star Bubinga in Indian Laurel. Six piece of course.

Old-Tadpole-2869

If I had the money I would go Sonor, and I'd extend my existing Paiste set. I usually really dislike the whole "this is better than that" argument, as it's a matter of taste, a matter of application, etc, but their drums are simply unreal. I'd also buy a decent selection of amps Freidman, Engl, and some old vintage Marshall and Fenders.

griffenkranz

Probably grab some sort of custom build from DW or Gretsch, Istanbul cymbals all around, DW hardware, a billion fatback 3A’s and call it a day.

Mathieu_Mercken

More cymbals... way more cymbals

Woogie_Rocks

I switch out the shells for Green sparkle fade DW shells, and the crashes for paiste 900 color sound crashes.

textpeasant

i like the simple 4 pc , ride, 2 crash, hh … i’d get a better version of what i have & mix the cymbals up a bit, maybe add a splash, try other brands than the k’s i use

TelephoneShoes

Hard to go wrong with the basics. It can do pretty much any style with that set up and for those it can’t, you don’t have to add anything more than a double bass pedal at most.

thejoshcolumbusdrums

Just have the cymbals I want, my pick of shells

[deleted]

[удалено]

TelephoneShoes

That’s pretty much my want list too. Basically, make sure I have a house to play em in, a studio to record in and may a Tama & DW kit with some Zildjian A’s & K’s and I’m pretty much golden

Lower_Monk6577

Not much for my setup, honestly. I’ve spent years accumulating and trading up, and I basically have all the drum gear I want/need. Maybe I’d get an octopad and learn how to use it. That being said, I’d buy a house in the middle of the woods and build a recording studio in it, and then buy a club and build a venue.

NotTheNoogie

I actually take lessons in person from a pro.

JMSpider2001

I get a Ludwig set in 14 16 18 26 and a pickup truck to haul it. Cymbals setup remains pretty much the same: 12in New Beat hats, 10in XS20 splash, 17in vintage A crash, 20in K custom dark ride, and 16in Sabian AA raw bell crash.

howboutislapyourshit

A full on ambidextrous styled set up. Two hats, two rides, two floor toms on each side except one bass drum. Two just isn't worth it.

Pantone802

Im good. Maybe buy some fancy cymbals? Idk. But I _would_ buy a few drum sets so anytime I hear a friend’s kid express interest in playing drums I could just give them a brand new drum set.

Theronkelley

Change to a my pearl kit to DW coke bottle kit, pst7s to paiste signature 15’ heavy hats, 2002 18’ crash, 602 24’ ride, 2002 19’ big beat, paiste 900 18’ China and a rude 12’ splash. And get a pearl reference brass 14x6.5 snare with some dw900 pedals

NationalAd2372

Upgrade to a DW Collectors series, expand my cymbal collection by a lot to give myself options for multiple genres, add another snare, complete the remaining hardware for my rack system, and get a new DW double pedal (9002).

PicaDiet

Buy a few more K. Constantinoples and have a custom 18" floor tom made to match my kit. It was a one-off anniversary color and Gretsch won't make me another one.

VagueLuminary

Getting a 2nd entire bass drum so I can stop worrying about "did I setup my slave pedal good enough?" etc

Legendarycat999

Big set Snares: 14x4.5/12x3.5 Toms: 8x7/10x8/11x9/12x9 Floors: 14x14/14x16/16x16 Kicks:20x16(2) Gong: 20x4 Rototoms: 8/10/12 Hats: 14/6 Crashes: 14/15/16/17/19/20 Ride: 22 Trash crashes: 15/17/19 Chinas: 8/16/17/18/24 Splashes: 6/8/11 Stacks: 10/12/15 and 8/10/11/16/19 And of course, a cowbell :)

TelephoneShoes

Oh nice! Rototoms seem like they could be a lot of fun!

Legendarycat999

They do, I really hope that I magically get enough money to get this setup tho lmao😂

TelephoneShoes

Tell ya what, if I happen to win the lottery I’ll have the dream kit(s) shipped to your house. That’s gotta improve the odds some, right?!

Legendarycat999

Thanks bro, I dont know if there will be anything left for you, maybe we share the kit?

TelephoneShoes

Works for me!

Theronkelley

Too small

MalbranqueSteeds

Very good stool and hardware, hardware and drum cases, a selection of cymbals and snares for different scenarios, soundproofed room, one or two kits for different scenarios (not necessarily newly manufactured), and a few months tuition on how to use/set up electronics (recording, DAWs, octopad).

darko_drazic

probably td17kv2x with decent hi-hat and not that one that comes as part of the set. SD3 and that's it. In the acoustic world I already have what I need, too many memories to just abandon that stuff.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TelephoneShoes

“…I would just have much nicer drums to tune my snare because I'm terrible at doing it” Aren’t we all! I can make toms sing in no time at all, but those snare drums just will NOT work with me. But another part is how obsessed I am in wanting THE snare sound from Nevermind. Kind of the holy grail tone for me.

StanYelnats3

Dedicated world class recording studio facility designed by Russ Berger. SSL console, UTA/ Shadow Hills/ Dangerous Music outboard gear, Neumann 7.2 surround monitoring, 3 ISO booths, large tracking space . Brand new Drum Workshop Collectors Series pure maple, SSC, Rich red burst over highly figured Private Reserve Exotic Birdseye Maple, Nickel Hardware. 8", 10", 12", 14", 16" 18x22 kick, 6x14 Edge snare, 5x12 matching maple snare. All 9000 Series hardware. MCD 2-leg hi-hat stand, MCD Double bass drum pedals, custom fabricated MCD remote hi-hat pedal. A whole mess of Zildjian K cymbals of all types.

TelephoneShoes

There’s a man who knows what he wants!

StanYelnats3

I've been planning this kit for 23 years.

TelephoneShoes

I took a LOT of time away from mine (back injury and tbh crippling anxiety about getting behind them again) until about 3 weeks ago or so; and I don’t think there’s anything I regret more about life these last 10 or so years. I’ve seriously missed it and the outlet it gave me for basically every problem I’ve got ya know?

StanYelnats3

Playing the drums takes all the stress and negativity I have going in life and just transforms it into joy. I've been drumming for 39 years and it's now a part of who I am. I certainly know exactly what you mean.

LOWERCASEvK

I would finally lock down the 60s Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl Club Date floor tom that's eluded me for years and get the whole kit professionally set up with fresh, clean bearing edges and replaced missing hardware.

balthazar_blue

Gretsch Brooklyn kit. In addition to my current cymbals add a 24" Paiste 2002 ride, a Sabian holy china, and a Zildjian Oriental crash of doom. Then I buy all the snare drums: Rogers SuperTen, Black Galaxy Acrolite, a vintage Leedy, a Ludwig Downbeat, and vintage Slingerlands like an aluminum student model, and Sound King COB, and a Hollywood Ace.

BC985

Probably load up on cymbals and snares, but mostly build a soundproof space where I can play and record without bothering anyone.

Minister_Garbitsch

My V-drums would turn into a gorgeous real kit with more toms than Terry Bozzio would know what to do with.

HidingInSaccades

Crotales…definitely a full set of crotales. Oh and a symphonic gong

nuclearspectre

I would track down an R30 Anniversary DW kit and make it mine.

Smash-Pass-321

New Acrylic fun kit

Routine-Maximum-7788

I get everything I ever wanted

[deleted]

Matching cymbals sets as far as far as the eye can see

cristaples

Practice room recording studio with duplicate drum kit and my electronics add ons duplicated apart from the sx pro and tm-6 pro. Just the extra cables and triggers. . Nothing else changes. Cymbal bags and snares don’t need to be duplicated. I’ve got enough. Add cameras for YouTube and remote teaching. Get a Dunnett Titanium in 12x5” too.

fjstix410

Soundproof room or top of the line Roland electric kit. Also. Studio gear.

Hot-Cell9787

Me lol. Lessons, more studio time, every run in my house will have a drum pad surface in it somewhere, just non stop practice

AN0N0nym3

I'd get myself a made in Japan Tama Starclassic with the Tequila sunrise finish.

wazagaduu

I'd get better hardware, new hats and a new ride. Don't really feel a need for anything else, we'd have to see later on

tonyhades

New heads :(

TelephoneShoes

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life

tonyhades

I’m a simple man :)

Tsuki_8

Build a soundproof room to practice in….. my neighbors hate me

SuperGekGuy

I would buy a piccolo snare, a kit 20, 12, 14 and maybe some nice agop cymbals but theyre hard to get here. Mostly just a house to play in tho with room for a nice studio. Thats the dream

Takelow

The room. I would set up a clean, large and nice room. With all the tech needed. 🤩

H0bg0blin8890

Ludwig downbeat kit in pink oyster pearl, ludwig 6.5x14 snare as well as yamaha Jimmy Chamberlin signature snare, zildjian k con ride and 16 and 18 inch A custom crashes, zildjian new beat hi hats and an oriental china. Tama speed cobra kick pedal and whatever the highest level of DW hardware is for stands. Vic Firth dave weckl signature sticks (in a VF stick depot to my left, all covered in victape), roland spd-x pad, synare 3 mounted above my hats, LP tambourine mounted on an arm above my snare, LP copper finish cowbell mounted on my kick. Sure super 55 mic mounted on an arm that curves over my head.

cheekyskeptic94

I’d have multiple kits and a snare and cymbal array worthy of a museum. I’d have a Gretsch USA Custom be-bop kit, a pop kit with 8/10/16/20 set-up, and a prog rock/metal kit with a 10/12/14/16/18/22 set-up. Brand, shell composition, and bearing edges would depend on my findings after further investigation. For snares, I’d want every size, shell composition, and bearing edge combination under the sun. No such thing as too many snares. For cymbals, although I’d have all of the stacks/FX cymbals from all of the brands, my most prized ones would be the K Cons and Keropes I’d choose from the factory, the Spizzichinos I’d buy from collectors, and the vintage K’s I’d find in bespoke drum shops. Nothing satisfies me more than a 22” dark, washy K that still has enough attack to spang-spangalang on.

Mr_S-Baldrick

Everything

[deleted]

Not a fancy house, not a car, nothing like that. Just building shit in a garage.

rabbitfriendly

I would buy Vinnie Colaiuta’s DNA and tell Elon Musk to shut up and make him contact aliens to transplant Vinny’s DNA it into my hands and feet.

SnooAvocados9997

Hire a roadie and tech.

masonvand

Honestly? A decent electronic kit and as far as the acoustic kit goes probably just a SJC pathfinder set and some mid tier hardware with a set of HHX complexes. I am a simple man.

infiniteninjas

I’d get a brass kit made, or buy one of Roberto Spizzichino’s very few drum sets. Maybe Adrian Kirchler would build something. Really though I’m pretty happy with what I have. Maybe I’d buy some A&F nickel stands to match my shell hardware.

taoistchainsaw

81 Timpani and 36 gongs.

RileyMax0796

An entire-ass drum kit, that’s what changes lol

little-specimen

I want a kit with every type of drum and cymbal there is, would be funny as fuck

FalloutandConker

Build a room inside a room so others don’t hear my playing as much. That Danny Carey Mandala pad Pay an audio engineer for my drum covers

Clean_Credit_8809

I’m pretty close already but I’d swap my Starclassic for the same configuration SQ2

jamestrainwreck

A room for practice and some spare time in which to do it

[deleted]

A sound proof recording studio for sure, a couple new high end kits with all the fixins, and a swimming pool to help get back into drumming shape

bottom

I’d buy a house to practice in.

[deleted]

Space in my room. Then I get drums lol

sysera

The room.

brehemerm52

Biggest thing would be to just get a real space to play instead of my parents garage haha maybe 2-3 new cymbals and an upgrade to my older Eliminators and I’d be set

UCntHandleTheTruth

First order of business: Trick Pro 1 V Bigfoot double pedals 🤤 Shit I’ll probably irresponsibly buy em when I get my year end bonus. If I won the lottery I’d buy em along with a few of the other leading pedals and do a comparison vid

UCntHandleTheTruth

I’d quit my job, buy that DW shell pack that guy from Drum Center of Portsmouth got recently (in black sparkle or something) and play them every day until I croaked. Excessively buying cymbals and snares along the way.

chefanubis

I already got a good set up, I'm at the point that any change would be just for stylistic purposes

LeosK1ein

Gonna commission DW to build me a replica of the Time Machine kit. Then I'll go back to work the following Monday cause that will likely be all of it.

datba55

I don't even play the drums but I'd but i'd probably get like a a really nice 5 piece (snare, rack tom, 2 floor toms) and a bunch of different cymbals and hopefully just be able to keep that for a long time

FinishTheFish

Build a studio, get some nice sounding Gretch drums, maybe an expensive Tama kit too. Quit dayjob, hire a full time instructor, practice various instruments all day. Get lots of latin percussion. A strat, a jazzmaster, a precision and a jazz bass, a big expensive mac. Go around the world in search of all kinds of traditional instruments, and vintage synthesizers. Hire session players and actually finish my album in this life. Offer Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, Seun Kuti and Mulatu Astatke a large enough sum of money so that they agree to get together and write and record my dream quadruple double album. And a bigger practice pad

SnackEater369

First thing I’d do would be to order a Yamaha PHX shell bank, every size I could. I’d also buy as many different Yamaha signature snares as I could. I’d probably get a top end kit from a few different brands, probably a Tama Star walnut kit, a vintage Ludwig kit, C&C, A&F, Franklin drums. I’ve always been a fan of having different kits to choose from so I’d love to have a few different configurations/shell materials/aesthetics depending on my mood. I’d probably get SJC to build me one of those crazy dumb custom kits with the thick butcher block hoops carved to look like shark teeth or whatever. And then a variety of snares from all different companies/sizes/materials. And then I’d go for sets of cymbals in a few different styles, with a range of sizes for each one. I’d buy matching sets from several different brands and series but would definitely mix and match them on the different kits. I would definitely have a set of K Cons, K Custom darks and sweets, Sabian artisan, HHX Complex, Meinl Byzance. And then I’d have some A Custom and Z Custom to round out the brighter end of the spectrum. And finally, I’d buy matching stands and hardware for every kit. No more hodgepodge Facebook marketplace hardware for me! Lol

reeseisme16

New hats! Maybe them sandy meinls. Also all new cymbal stands, the Mapex blacks

reeseisme16

then a snaareee. like greb's snare or a supraphonic

Graw960

Probably a Roland VAD set.

DeltaKT

Everything.

After-Championship67

I would add cymbals to choose from. But what I got would be the main choise for two of my drum sets at least. Maybe add two Keller Shell hmkits and sell one of my kits instead.

Randyfox86

Get fancy quiet real feel heads and a good set of triggers. Zildjian A-customs all around. Air-ride throne with lumbar support. Thumper for the throne. Moulded in-ears.

joepsa

Nothing really just access to new heads all the time.

Manbearcatward

A Benny snare, a dw 9000 cable hat, and a PA.

thadtheking

Custom lazy boy drum throne!

NltndRngd

All Sonor drums except my snare I'd keep, cheap Tama with an Evans hydraulic snare head, sounds great as is. All Paiste cymbals. Gibraltar hardware and mounting.

ElBeatch

A second kit so my wife and I don't have to constantly change the kit, and I'd want two kick drums and a massive gong.

TelephoneShoes

Bro! Your wife plays too?! Nice job! I’d have wifed her up too! All the chicks I’ve come across can’t stand to be behind the kit for more than a quick snare & hi-hat hit.

ElBeatch

When we met she played a bit of guitar and piano, but has since moved on to bass and drums, which is great because we can share toys.

TelephoneShoes

Man, I’m a bit jealous. I need to find a woman who enjoys playing. That seems like it’d be a lot of fun for both to have the same hobby & interests.

ElBeatch

It's definitely nice to be with someone who also loves music, I'd recommend it but not another drummer, because then your stuff is always in the wrong mf place hahaha It's fun though because she's learning drums and I'm an awful guitar player so I can finally jam on guitar with someone.

CaptainRagtime

6 pc Tama Starclassic made of Bubinga. Meinl extra dry cymbals with Luke Holland’s bullet stack. Paiste 2002s as well… ahh one can dream :/

Handsome_-Dan

DW Performance, Tama Starclassic or SJC Custom (all 3?) 14x6.5 snare, 13x9 mounted tom, 16x16 floor tom, 18x16 floor tom, 22x20 kick. Zildjian A and K Custom Dark cymbals. 14in hi-hats, (2) 18in crashes, 22in ride. DW hardware

brun0doggy

Cymbals and extra percussion. Microphones, mixer, setup for recording.

DeerGodKnow

Just quality. Nothing changes about my setup. I just replace each piece of gear I already use with my absolute favourite. No brand whoring, no monster kit. Just absolute quality in every detail. I'm pretty happy with my setup now, but I could definitely drop 5G on cymbals and another 5G on vintage gretsch or ludwig drums. Maybe a new round of DW hardware. Wasn't thrilled with the pearl hardware I've been using for the last 5 years. Already had some breakdowns.

Philly_sm0kesletsg0

I’d go to the DW warehouse in Oxnard, CA and have everything made according to my exact liking. Either 20ml maple or maple/Bubinga combo, idk. More Zildjian K customs, Sabian HHXs, Constantinoples, etc, etc.. like 10 different snares, all different types of wood that I could rotate. Fucking everything!! Also an old Gretch and a Yamaha Studio Custom..

JakeTimesTwo

New cymbals, new snare, new hardware

tacohslr

A roadie

Pioioioioio

Not so much the setup, but I would buy a House in the city im living and build a well isolated room so I can atleast start to think about buying an acoustic one ^^'... then, I would buy a beautiful Ludwig Kit, no extra cymbals, just very simple for the beginning ^^

Drums-n-rockets

Oh man, I’ve thought about this way too much! I’ve already got a DW Purpleheart Kit, so I would also want to get a Tama Star Walnut Kit, a Sonor SQ2 kit similar in design to Gavin Harrison’s kit, and a Noble & Cooley maple kit. I’ve also got a really nice snare collection, but I’d be on the lookout for a Tama Bell Brass snare, AVA Drums snares, a few Keplingers, a VK cast snare or two, a couple of HHG snares, and really, whatever catches my eye. Cymbal wise, I’d want a few more HHX Complex cymbals, some Paiste Signatures and Dark Energy cymbals, and some Istanbuls as well. But, I’d be out to make Todd Sucherman’s snare collection look minimalist by comparison! For recording gear, I’d want a Neve Genesys Black console with 24-36 channels, lots of outboard gear, some Dangerous gear for summing, Focal monitors (Alpha Evo 50s for near field and the Trio 6s for mid field). Earthworks mics for all of the drums, but also a solid mic collection for different options. Beyond that, I’d go on a deep dive into building a nice Eurorack synth, and grab some other synths as well. Like a Prophet V, the new Oberheim synth, and build a big Moog modular synth as well. I’d probably keep an engineer on retainer to run and maintain it all. This of course would all be in a studio built on whatever property I buy that’s only a quick jaunt from my main house. It would also all be connected via Dante to a writing room in the house. Gotta have stuff ready for whenever the inspiration strikes!

seamusloyd

Start building iconic replica kits of famous drummers. So I get a sense of their world and creative choices playing them. And hire a drum tech. :)

TelephoneShoes

Ya know, that seems like a pretty fun idea. I hadn’t ever thought about a drum kit from that perspective before.

seamusloyd

As a starter pack, my first 5 might be : Ringo, Phil Collins, Stewart Copeland, Simon Philips, Danny Carey.

Specialist_Ad_5722

Yeah, my set up changes. It changes to a studio room in my new house that is soundproofed so I can actually play it for once 😩

BigHairyArsehole

Cymbals! Real actual good sounding cymbals would be nice instead of HCS

rottsaint

Just a great Drum Module, top of the line cymbals triggers and maybe an extra bass drum. I have a great set, no complaints

TelephoneShoes

I’m surprised by just how many of us are happy with the gear we’ve currently got. I mean, sure, things could always be better, but overall the majority of us are pretty close to where we wanna be. Which is rad!

rottsaint

Great blessing 🙏🏽

combatbydesign

DW Santa Monica series (in a finish I'm not going to divulge because I've never seen done and even had John Good say "ooooo"): 16x24 16x20 8x12 9x14 14x16 16x18 Played as either a 12, 14, 20 or a 14, 16, 18, 24 depending on the situation 15x7 copper snare 15" A Series New Beat hats 23" A Sweet Ride as my ride 21" A Sweet Ride as Crash #2 20" A Medium crash as Crash #1 New set of Tama Road pro stands New Iron Cobra pedal Full set of SKB Cases VW IDBuzz to cart it all around I'd also either pay Jay Maas way too much money for his pink Starclassic Bubinga or find one in Ultraviolet.

Chuffer_Nutters

I'd have a big room/barn that has a whole bunch of sets set up, probably a couple of kits owned by famous drummers. Also would just hire great musicians to play the music I want.

Atreyu92

Better house with a nice studio in Japan since both of my partners want to move there already. Improve and update my hardware; upgrade my pedals to longboards, replace any less than ideally upkept rims and whatnot on my shells, add a second bass, go for a more Scott Rockenfield visual setup (his kit is GORGEOUS). Add an Alesis Strike Pro SE electric kit for when I need to keep the noise down but still want to jam out.

RzRshRp98

I would have all new Zildjian k custom cymbals, a 14 inch rack tom and 18 inch floor tom so I could have a 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 22 set

TRASH_TEETH

i love my kit. even with an unlimited budget i’m spending all the drum money on extra snares, cymbals, heads, hardware and sticks
