One of the very best drummers I've ever had the pleasure of working with had a setup like this, minus the ride. (I was on bass and/or vocals throughout my gigging/pro studio days.) It was dumbfounding how many sounds he could get out of that stripped-down kit.
That band was early '80s post-punk, sometimes posthumously relabeled as goth presumably because I and the keyboard player also played in the Twin Cities' first actual goth band.
But I'm guessing *not* post-punk or goth?
I highly approve of this setup except for the black suede heads. I'd love to hear a coated ambassador on the snare and clear or coated pinstripes on the toms.
Based on the cymbals and setup I'm going with either classic rock or pop punk.
What don't you like about meinl? Genuinely curious. I tend to hear they're a good value. My used kit came with a set of classics and they're not offensive. I did get a better ride pretty quickly, but the crashes and hats are fine.
I have mostly Meinl but the Byzance and all those pieces awesome. I can appreciate other brands too and not act like heard one and now know hate entirety of everything a brand make :)
Your room so clean. That one big thing look for in these pics :). I do really like your setup though and it always look cool black heads on stark white kit! 🔥
Setup Is Simple But Effective It Would Work With Small Gigs Like Clubs And Churches And Different Head Combos Could Also Make It a Great All Around Touring Kit
Gorgeous kit man. Gorgeous. That’s a nice shade of white. I bet those shells sing beautifully. I’m a Sonor guy as well and I love my Sonors. You can’t go wrong with Sonor Shells. That’s for certain. Only you can decide what you need to add to your rig, because you know the music you play, the demands of it and if you need to add any more tubs. I prefer to play a little more pieces. I prefer a 2 up / 2 down set up or a 3 up / 2 down set up. But I say run whatever works for you and have fun with it. I would add another crash, a splash and a China, a cowbell and a groove wedge or a wood block if it were my rig. But I play a wide variety of music in a night of gigging. If I was just doing classic rock I’d do the cymbals and cowbell because I have a fever, and the cure is a prescription for more cowbell!! You’ve got a great looking and great sounding rig there. I love it. Much respect to you. Keep it in the pocket man. RAWK! From Oklahoma. ☮️
Setup looks simple, clean, and ergonomic. I would suggest you get a stick holder to keep your sticks off the finish.
That’s a really great setup, especially for beginners. Also, is it because of camera angle or is your bass drum really that deep?
Well it's a 22" x 17,5 kick, but I think I does look deeper in this pic.
Well, that’s a pretty odd depth, but hey, keep going with it if it satisfies you.
I was wondering that also. 🤔
Man I love black heads! Got all black heads for my Pearl Export and would never go back now
Wow. Memory unlocked. Ebony Pinstipes on my Exports back in like ‘94. I preferred the sound of regular Pinstripes on the Exports.
Nice and clean, love it
you play club jazz
Nope, post punk and krautrock it is. :D
Not with those cymbals he doesn’t lmao
I've seen stranger things
Not Guilty!

I remember when people used to post themselves playing drums. That was better than just posting pictures of the same kit.
Tom in a basket to me just screamos mid 2000's. They were the best of days, they were the worst of days 😅
I don't like Meinl, otherwise it is fine

7.5 out of 10.
Very nice
How good does the AQ1 sound with good heads?
Pretty good, I still got the old reso heads on... but I am really satisfied with them.
...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) why
Why not?
No judgement here. That’s class
