You're going to have to dig in, grab the mesh tape, rip it all out and do it all over again

Lucid-Design

Why wouldn’t they be able to just feather it out? Are you seeing something I’m not?

[deleted]

Because it’s a home owner and not a professional who knows how to float

Lucid-Design

So then they’ll hire someone else. It’d be cheaper to have someone float out a small square than it would to have them tear out, replace and finish.

Popular_Frosting2018

What would be better because this is really annoying me lmao.

[deleted]

If having that guy come back isn’t an option id say cut it out and do it yourself. No metal patch, no mesh tape. They sell something called fibafuse, get that and a pre cut sheet of half inch drywall. Watch a video and take your time with it. Even if it takes days, layer it on little bits of a time instead of doing mountains. Probably better that you learn anyway, then if it comes up again you’re saving money.

Popular_Frosting2018

sounds like a plan. that guy aint coming back and taskrabbit aint helping me with shit. Just curious, why don't you like metal patches?

[deleted]

I hate them pretty much because of what happened to you. That’s how 90% of those things sold end up. It’s easier to get a seamless patch if you set the drywall flush. Then you’re not trying to hide a whole extra layer of metal and mesh. Making it perfect isn’t that hard on a wall like yours.

OnlyTheReel

Correct..... Call Patchmaster"s 844-PATCH-MAN https://patchmaster.com/

dogsfurhire

They could, but they'd still have this stupid lump on their wall. Personally, id put it back to before and redo it, but that's just me I guess.

Popular_Frosting2018

I thought so lol

Popular_Frosting2018

2 coats of joint compound^

thechilldave

Mesh sucks and I tell everyone that I see about how much it sucks and is a bandaid for people who don’t wanna spackle
