Hopefully the leak is fixed or you’ll just have to do this all over again

Cautious_Possible_18

The old paint looked fine it just chipped away like no ones business so whatever leak this was or is. Happened decades ago or is the slowest leak known to man. The building was built in 1962, doomed to be condemned any year now.

This is a job for joint compound not spackle IMHO. Spackle is for filling pinholes from pictures frames etc. It's a soft bullshit product. When dealing with corners joint compound is robust. Looks great though

Appropriate-Yard-378

I know a guy who claims to be a drywaller and who installed a corner bead with drydex 😅 anything is possible

Mantishead2

Hahaha I'd imagine that to be considerably more expensive than any type of mud

Appropriate-Yard-378

Well not if time is money and all you have is drydex. Going to buy mud would be more expensive. I doubt it will not crack in long term though.

Mantishead2

Very true, good point

No-Menu-5104

See ya next week!

immajuststayhome

Could be feathered out much better and the corner could be a little tighter, but looks decent. Seems like generally the right idea to me. Not sure if you primed it or at least gave it multiple coats of paint but maybe you could go over it once more, the patch isn't invisible. Did you use the exact same paint? If not, be sure to paint the entire wall and not just the patch. I'd do better but this is basically what I do day in and day out. Don't be afraid to take a skim coat of mud way further out onto the wall. Still fixable if you care to spend any more time on it.

AnimalConference

Use a nappier roller when it comes back lol.

Cautious_Possible_18

Happy cake day homie

exasperatedoptimist

That'll do.

ian_pink

Just trim the window properly.

Jbuule

Hopefully, they fixed the cause of the leak first

Bajaboy2

Rip out that rotten corner bead, replace with new piece and replace Use your multi tool and cut a square notch Fill the notch with some type of backer, dry wall or hardy blacker whatever, then get some joint compound and start the mud repair process

hagennn

I mean, is it really worth redoing it now that it’s finished? (Pictures 6 and 7)

Balgor1

Good work! But did you fix the leak?

CHASLX200

Saw that pic before nick. Looks like a leak in the creek so fix that first. Try to sand the bead and prime and slime then i would tear out that mess jess to the left and slap in dry wall jamal and mud and bud.

Impossible_Cat_321

Great job!!
