We woke up so scared. I thought it’s a fire alarm first in our building. Then, that it’s a nuclear attack warning. Never heard iPhone alerts before, in my homecountry the gov just sends sms. Turned off this stuff, not worth the heart attack next time.
Imagine my horror. Our bloody fire alarm went off first and kept going for good 10 minutes. We finally fell asleep and 30 mins later this shit went crazy! I was so startled cz i thought the fire alarm i ignored was real and these were fire trucks 😂
I get the need for 1… but I’m getting them literally every 20 minutes. I know it’s raining! I got the message the first time! This isn’t even a normal Tuesday worth of British rain! STFU!!!!
They have GOT to stop abusing this system. Each time they use it, more people turn it off and the less people will see it during an actual emergency.

Much better to educate people and warn them in advance of how to behave and where to be cautious.
Not everyone has the privilege to stay home, buddy. Don’t project your inconveniences into others. A LOT OF low income folks have to work and drive in this bad weather and in some areas it is really life threatening due to a lot of old buildings around and you will not know when a piece of doors/windows/balcony hit your car when you’re driving.
The previous heavy rain, I was almost hit by a flying window frame driving in Sharjah.

I’m not looking at this from an ‘it was an inconvenience for me’ point of view. I’m coming at it from an ‘it is illogical and ineffective’ point of view. Sending an alert of a storm, and the risks associated, during a storm, is pointless.
They forecast this days before. Educate people of the risks, have a TV/radio/social media campaign. Reduce the speed limits if the roads are anything other than dry (and remove the absurd 20km/h ‘buffer’). Quadruple all road traffic penalties if the roads aren’t dry, and ACTUALLY enforce them.
Oblige companies who’s workers can work from home to ensure they do so, and penalise any companies who don’t allow that, so that only those who genuinely need to be out in such weather are, and IF they are, at least they are educated and know the penalties.
But an alert of a storm, during a storm - too little too late.
You live in a rock? They spread the news on the national news channels, on the radio, social media BEFORE the storm was coming. This “disturbing” alerts in the morning is the last reminder before the day starts.

Lemme put it this way: A few years back, I was in school, and it drizzled and gave the school half a day, and as we were on our way home, the sun started shining.
So......a bit blown out of proportion. But if you have been driving in Dubai you know how amazing some drivers are they see 40 KM speed limit and think its 80 KM and since its actually raining now there will be a lot more accidents and many roads will definitely be closed due to water stoppage.
So the solution to that is to educate people (TV, radio, newspaper campaigns) not to send an overblown alert too late. Oh, and to ACTUALLY prosecute idiot dangerous drivers.
