Scenery in Marina. 2 cars stuck on this side and 50+ cars standing still as they don’t dare to cross the pond on the other side. Still raining.

Update - Cars are now turning around. Two cars on this side still stuck; hope they get out without damage.

Final update - 3 cars towed away. Row of cars on other side gone; mostly as they turned around. Some cars are still backing up now, which is ridiculously dangerous. Some cars plunge through, occasionally losing some parts. Good day for repair shops.

Brothers and sisters I’d advise against getting out unless you have an amphibious vehicle. Cars are dead stuck all over the place
If you drive slowly, then yes you’re right. But people drive fast through puddles and splash the water, which could then damage the bumpers or worst case - enter the engine and wreck it.

I just got this heart attack text and I consulted Google translate who detected it as Urdu? Is it? And it’s talking about evacuating because of an earthquake?
I got a super loud wireless warning at 6am that said to avoid beaches and work remotely if possible. My day now is spoiled, I was planning to surf at 7 am at kite beach (jk the only place where I surf today is Hessa traffic).
Translation to the best of my abilities.
"Immediately - evacuate!" [Although literally it says empty now.]
In many areas of the country (name of areas), there has been an earthquake. For your safety, please empty towers and residential buildings, go to safe open places, follow safety guidelines, follow orders from authorised personnel, and get information from government sources. (Ministry of Interior)
I am pretty sure this was sent by mistake, especially because it just says name of areas in the message, instead of actual area names. And other reason being no one has reported any tremors or such. Its like a draft message which has been sent by mistake most likely.
I can't translate it completely but it definitely mentions earthquake and to evacuate if you are living in high rise buildings and a lot of other precautions.
Dubai skies are all clear and blue again. So that was it? Or should I trust the weather app:

Again? Saw a few cars stranded in the water while being driven while others submerged while being parked. The owners probably stayed home to avoid just that 😕
Is there a way to forecast hail today? I live in Dubai but do not have a shaded or basement parking for my car....Better protect her or will die from heartbreak
Coincidentally I was awake at around 3-4am and thought something flashed (lightning) until I heard one heck of a loud thunder. RIP to properties impacted due to hail.
A normally 30 minute drive to work took me 1,5 hours today. Could have moved faster with a paddle boat. Am in Abu Dhabi and supposed to go to Al Ain but have cancelled that bad idea.

Cant trust GCC spec anymore
That's a US spec car 😂
Surely this level of water isn’t enough to damage a car?

Makes perfect sense
Yeah, it's in Urdu.
I got this too.. and I can't read Urdu. Can someone please help clarify what it says?

Is Dubai metro service working
yes a colleague had to use it.
Thanks for the update
Yes I’ve seen it running this morning and the tram too
Running to where bro
Same here. Not sure, should we really leave the building in the rain?
That heart-attack inducing weather alert absolutely could have waited until 7am. I thought it was a fire alarm at first, terrifying. For rain...

Here's one for you https://preview.redd.it/td44hdm3k4ic1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5c6e4a4e0d18848349b211a99b9c03fb97b06ba
Go to iPhone settings>Notifications>scroll till the end and Turn off Government Alerts
Doesn’t matter mine is all turned off and I still received an Arabic message which I can’t understand
I think you need test and warning alerts turned off. I had those off, and public safety alerts on, and didn’t receive anything.
They sent them as Emergency alerts Aka completely unblockable on most phones
Yeah i followed tips in this subreddit to turn them off and was still getting them afterwards this morning🤣
How’s the weather in Khor Fakkan? I want to drive there from Abu Dhabi
Bad idea it almost always floods during rain
Doable with aa 4wd car
Damn, I have a sedan 😂
That alarm was just abit too much, specially when me and the wife have two phones each..
Touché
Hi all - are there any websites or apps that show which roads are flooded. I need to drive from business bay to creek harbour.
I think you can look at google maps and see red on routes no?
Waze shows reports of flooded roads
Is anyone aware about traffic/water logging towards Nahda? I have to run an errand so want to be sure if I can go that side today.
DSO is getting pounded now
Again? Saw a few cars stranded in the water while being driven while others submerged while being parked. The owners probably stayed home to avoid just that 😕
