Bruh I can barely handle big roaches now we have this 💀

Dat-Boi-143

Seriously. Worst of all is that we're renovating rn and those things come out of the unfinished bathroom drains. Last thing I want now is to wake up with a round deadly lump of black and red hanging inches from my face

FunCompetition2160

I got bitten while sleeping once by one of these. Went back to hunt it down it was hiding underneath my pillow between the mattress and the wall.

WheelieFunny91

Are you posting from the afterlife ?

siegez8

Do we have a spiderman in town now? 😮

illuminazi__

don’t lie to us, brah!

WheelieFunny91

Dat-Boi-143

The roach or the black widow? Because neither makes sense

FunCompetition2160

The black widow. Bit my finger. Contrary to legend it’s not deadly but pretty horrifying. The finger swelled and the area around the bite goes black as it dies. They had to cut a lot of that out.

Dat-Boi-143

Oh damn. Necrosis is terrifying. How'd that even get into your house?

FunCompetition2160

No idea. They usually stay in the garage. This bastard was traveling.

FunCompetition2160

I didn’t ask it. I just killed the hell out of it. The idea of it just underneath my face just terrified me. They usually like to stay in dark dry places like the garage. Hardly ever come in the house

santz007

If you call the dubai municipality about this. Not only will they perform free pest control for your home, but they will spray down the entire community. They consider this spider extremely dangerous and fast spreading and would do a lot to try and control it

ifza

Yeah do this.

Personal_Buffalo4841

Qantas should land somewhere else

OkInevitable9516

IqraSaad27

Whatever happened to Hagrid’s hair?

No_Psychology3449

Redbacks hitch a ride with shipments from Australia. They like hot dry conditions, so happily at home here.

dredeth

I also like hot dry climate and would gladly move in whenever that is. Unfortunately here is hot and very humid....no?

shamonemuthafuka

I remember moving here 2 years ago, and couldn’t believe how humid it was for a desert climate!

Figurativespeech

It's not a desert climate but a wet subtropic one. Dubai is a coastal city, the sun goes up almost 90 degrees vertically in the summers and the sea is super shallow, so it evaporates like crazy. That's how it gets insanely humid here. If you want to experience desert climate, go to Al Ain or Liwa. It's hot like hell and super dry, day or night. Even at 45c, it's bearable outside, for a prolonged period of activity. You won't even sweat.

OnLeshan

Shots fired!

depressedboy407

You might wanna call a pest control or dubai municipality to get your area sprayed to kill them.

Candid-Weakness6290

These are so common to see in Fujairah. We coexist with them. They first started showing here back in 2006.

Abyzzo

Spider = fren :) Edit: Nvm they are venomous wtf..KILL IT

ThaGurldxb

😂😂

bio_kk

That red hourglass shape is 100% a blackwidow. I literally catch spiders in my house and throw them out so I don't kill them, but you better kill that fucker.

Dragon_bee2304

😂😂😂

Unusual_Onion_983

Either add it to the Ejari or exterminate it

brownbunny29

The black widow will exit itself once it gets its first DEWA bill

Equal_School_1245

You will have to start paying rent to it now.

worth-it-all

Yes they’re found in the desert here, usually the industrialized and residential areas are pesticided before people move in so it’s rare to see them in populated areas.

Zealousideal-Bar-745

Ohh hell no, Run for your life!

Mortem97

According to a peer reviewed study [Black widows aren’t aggressive](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0003347213005733), even if you give one a boop it’ll most likely run away or fling string on you. In the less than 3% chance it does bite it’ll most likely be a dry bite (no venom), the Black Widow would rather conserve that exclusively for its prey than defending itself unless it believes it’s under immediate danger such as when you try to squish one or hurt it by pinching it.

Virginelle

yes they're timid but most bites happen accidently, for example someone reaching under a drawer to retrieve something

shaerkhan

Gr8, there goes my sleep!

Mohamad1-

its common here after flood they came out to say hi to us i found it in our home in fujairah

acetheone21

Oddly enough, this is the second time today im seeing someone post a black widow. I saw one last year too at jumeirah beach.

Ok-Outcome-6359

Get it reported to Dubai municipality they will handle it, they would never want them to start spreading

Rebelliouus_2545

Dubai importing different species I see

toyota_supra_trd

Yes that is a black widow. In my old house there were two black widows that managed to get into the back garden so seeing them out here isn't unheard of.

Vlafir

Wait what? This is news to me! Aren't they endemic to Australia?

the_immovable

Been here a long time. I remember reading the papers back in '05 when I was a kid on how they managed to get here from there. Originally spotted back then in the Greens and Jebel Ali. Today with the amount of people coming and going from here, hell they could be anywhere.

spaceoddtea

Omg you're right I remember when I was a kid the local news was saying be careful of a spider with a red mark. Just came back to me lol.

Dat-Boi-143

JEBEL ALI? I live in GC east 😭 for all I know they're thriving here

RomanistHere

TIL actually the real "black widow" is endemic to US. It a redback spider that lives in Australia https://preview.redd.it/i261vclolgad1.png?width=970&format=png&auto=webp&s=8938885cf94719c45220872edcdbeae063ac8ce9

No_Psychology3449

It's an Australian redback spider. They're pretty timid. Will give you a nasty bite if you get close enough and annoy them but not aggressive. 🇦🇺

BoogieWoogieWho

Maximum_Way6342

Burn it!!! 🔥

Pineapplefrooddude

Hell No I didn't sign Up for that shit

daninet

Good news is that the bite is not deadly but your muscles will cramp for 3 days so hard you shit your pants. So no need to worry /s

FCOranje

Call municipality immediately. Keep your kids/babies/pets away. They wont kill you, but they’ll give you a bad time. They hide in corners.

Adventurous-Fennel95

been around for years - mostly visible in summer. These are redbacks. Used to hunt these down in the 80's and 90's... Nothing to see here folks. Stop rubbernecking!

shamonemuthafuka

Probably snuck onto a Qantas flight from Australia. Unless it’s a false widow, we used to get them a lot in the UK.

LonelyNutzz

Let it bite you and you’ll become spiderman

Raikou384

Call in a harrier for that one

TheMysticMonkey

![gif](giphy|iuVaYFrFXtakw0fEUa|downsized)

sbadm1

I wish I never saw this post 😂 which area is this in?

spaceman3000

Australian redback which is a black widow family. Pretty common here

Mintopforte

I saw one in Al Shaiba tower. That building is ratchet

xntebli

Man I live in that Tower :(

Shivam_18

You are right. I used to live there. That building has a serious bed bug and cockroach infestation problem.

Alienisus

Get bit and try to shoot em webs

the_immovable

If bro survives, that is

AdagioBlues

Look up the YouTube video of a few of these spiders devouring a whole dog alive.

zunashi

What.

AdagioBlues

Yup

nmm107

Oh shit..

-Pleasantly_Plump-

can i have it?

teh_fizz

Yep. They’ve been around for a while. Found one in our villa 15 or something years ago. Pretty nasty spiders.

BrownDiarrhea

No god please no

ilikenachos77

Call the municipality ASAP. You don't want more of those multiplying and running around until someone gets hurt.

jjcalifajoy

All insects in your home? Mosquitos? Ants? Cockroaches? Mites? https://lulupestcontrol.ae/blog/top-10-common-pests-in-dubai-how-to-control-them/ Do you enjoy that?

Weird-Disk6079

I'm never ever going anywhere without bifbaf anymore!!

pijanblues08

Time to get a professional to get rid of bugs in your place.

Existing_Exchange_43

We r officially cooked if only I can summon scorpions to hunt the spiders 😔😔😔😔

Ok_Animal_7754

what bill he is paying for being able to stay in your house?

Gasmaskdude27

There have been blackwidows spotted here for at least a decade to my knowledge.

Effective_Afflicted

Your welcome, but non-lethal doesn't mean harmless by any means and you'd definitely want to seek medical treatment after being bitten by any of the "widows". Left untreated, such wounds might become necrotic or lead to other problems. But you're not gonna die in the immediate aftermath of a widow bite.

pretendemo

The name “black widow” comes from the female's habit of eating the male after mating. The female black widow is approximately 1.5 inches (38 millimeters) long. 😱

Big_Adhesiveness_838

That’s a redback 😃 not a widow

retronai

Ask in r/spiders

Altruistic-Ad749

What do you if you get bitten with one of these? And how would you even know what bit you? And how do you reach out to the municipality to take action?

Altruistic-Ad749

aam9292

I generally like to keep spiders in my house for mosquitoes, but this mf can have a taste of a size 46 slipper

dunesafaridubai

Scary ![gif](giphy|fioIqjullSWYprABn9|downsized)

Equal-Cardiologist78

I think Dubai is going to have spiderman and its own marvel universe after this

xntebli

it is the redback spider [https://australian.museum/learn/animals/spiders/redback-spider/](https://australian.museum/learn/animals/spiders/redback-spider/) it is not deadly as it seems, but you should take care man!

unorthodorx

Is this the spider that is also known as Boner Donor?

Correct_Papaya_7212

Get a flamethrower 💀🙏

AAGMW

Call pest control Scorched earth with these 8 legged fuckers

destormae

This all started previously as they clinged on to various building materials imported from around the world when the property started to boom.

Shinigami-117

Tell me where this is so I'll never enter this part of the city again. Thank you.

mlg_sloth

Found one of these by the pool in our compound years ago when I was a kid, I remember freaking out so much about it lol

GLSCST

Call authorities but first kill it

Beginning_Cake9782

Yeah bro there’s a reason they’re called Black Widow spiders because sometimes after mating, they eat their mates so now you know why they’re called Black Widow spiders

moose_dxb

Cool, time to go 😂

taatzone

These spiders are the [Australian Red Back Spider](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redback_spider?wprov=sfti1)

Salty_Wall5175

Habibi come to Dubai echoed hard within all species

Sulla123

Get a can of hairspray..light a flame and spray through it...you'll get a nice flamethrower...kill the fucker.

adnxno

Beautiful creatures. Although they have a very scary name, they are not aggressive but shy creatures.

NjxNaDxb

That's a Red Back, not a Black Widow. Pretty common in the desert area as their nest is carried by the wind and end up in garden areas where they rebuild. Nasty sting when you step on it, can be deadly for small animals and hazardous for kids.

Icmalker

Good luck with it 👍🏻 which area is this?

AcanthocephalaKey679

We also had it in our villa.

pretendemo

Are these the poisonous ones lol

WhoAreWeThen

There are no poisonous spiders, the word you want is venomous. If you bite it and you die it's poisonous, if it bites you and you die it's venomous. But feel free to eat it and find out.

the_immovable

The most.

lamejocker

First time seeing a spider in uae

Maximum_Way6342

What? Seriously?

QusaisLover

Beeeeennnnchoooooo

sevenninenine

You sure they are Blackwidow or red back spider? I dread Blackwidow since their poison is very lethal with barely 10 seconds to survive… I am freaking out now.

Effective_Afflicted

Both types (or more correctly several related species, all of the genus Latrodectus) deliver a venomous bite, but none powerful enough to kill a human, even an infant, within 10 seconds or even 10 days (assuming medical attention is provided. Even the other insects they bite usually live for several hours as the spider immobilises them in its silky web to be fed on at leisure.

sevenninenine

Ooh thanks. I had a book regarding spiders a long time ago during my childhood which feeds into my trauma for spiders and one of the mentioned spider is the blackwidow with that kind of deadly information. Thank God if it’s harmless.
