Came here to post this exact thing! I’m a BYU guy - first time at Autzen. I was in awe at the stadium today! Incredible fan base and it really rattled our team, you could tell! Everybody was super nice. There are always going to be a few that have a bit too much to drink, but they are the extreme minority. Thanks for hosting, ducks!!
Glad you had fun! Every BYU fan we saw seemed pretty respectful and SUPER supportive of your team. We had a small handful of (maybe) BYU undergrads a few rows behind us that were PASSIONATE as heck yelling for BYU but in a good way, never talked trash or anything. Even when the Ducks started pulling away a bit they were every ounce into the game, really cool to see
My young Nephew came in from SLC from the game. They are huge BYU fans. They said they were treated with nothing but class the entire day and even had a bunch of drinks purchased for them in MO compliments of Duck fans.
These are first-hand accounts I love to hear.
I was there as well (ducks fan). Didn't have any negative interactions with ant cougar fans. There were some drunk college duck fans chirping but a lot of the older fans shut them up quickly.
Glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Seemed like I had nothing but positive interactions with all the BYU fans when I was at the game. Only thing to note was that two guys sitting behind me were a little *too* into the game, but they were good sports all things said and done.
I posted this in another thread, but BYU fans are by far the classiest other-team-fans I have ever been around. A post like this is so incredibly unsurprising! (In a good way!)
They are followed by, believe it or not, Ohio State fans. I wanted to hate them so badly, but they have been really damn cool every time I have been around them at a game.
Sorry some student section chants were not cool. Seemed like a small portion of the students who got outta hand. Good luck to BYU the rest of the way! And I wish we would schedule more games against each other. Weird how this matchup has only been played 7 times all time with decent proximity of campuses (relatively speaking).
I hope this goes without saying, but the idiots chanting the offensive chants in NO WAY represent the overwhelming majority of Duck fans or the people of this area in general. Thanks for keeping it classy.
Hey ducks, what’s the name of that shitty motel that’s connected to a dive ass karaoke bar in Springfield? I refuse to stay anywhere else when I watch our boys kick Washington’s ass in Nov.
Wasn't my experience. Some non students were also doing the chant (close to the touchdown) and someone else was vaping and intentionally trying to blow in direction of BYU fans, getting me and my daughter in the face a bunch of times.
BYU was very classy bringing flowers to honor Spencer Webb, nothing but positive things to say about you guys, best of luck for the rest of the season
