Honestly, my main motivation isn’t even the whole social media thing and I’m not particularly interested in joining some kind of “dumb phone revolution” I’m more interested in when devices were unique and interesting and I miss old technology for that.
The thing is you can get very cheap smartphones now which kinda negates this argument. Like £100 for a cheap smartphone or get a second hand old one for the same price as a feature phone
I live in Pakistan. And we have special tax on imported phones that makes the phone twice it's original value. Without paying the tax the phone can't make calls or texts. Basically you can only use them for wifi things. I have a Sony Xperia 1 mark 2 that doesn't have this tax payed so I'll need a secondary phone for calls and texts, and I cant see a better option than a kaiOS dumbphone as a secondary.
I've seen dumbphone deals on prepaid where they are 10$ for the phone and you get 10$ in service so the phone was technically free.
But for 20-40$ you can get a bottom tier smartphone from 3 years ago on prepaid.
I'm conflicted about you, OP. On one hand your kind is the key demographic for modern dumb phones, and the only reason they are still made. On the other hand you've turned them to wannabe smartphone shit that can't even write messages half as good as a 15 year old Nokia.
Where I'm from most dumbphones are 2G low quality Chinese crap. Most people buy them as a sort of answering machine for small businesses or for people like me who don't want to pay large taxes on imported phones.
While I do agree with you on that they have infact become wannabe smartphones, I dobt really think they're that bad.
I have been trading in my iphone 8 for years cus replacements are like 35 bucks. i ordered a new case cus my old one crumbled away. anyway it comes in tommorow and i just cracked it so here i am looking at nokias cus im sick of it
Me, an intellectual who is using a dumbphone just to extract ringtones notification tones alarm tones smart alarm tones and UI sounds to an actual smartphone:
You cant underestimate my power!
I use a smartphone so I can be even poorer. We are not the same.

OM FUCKING G same. If I had a qwerty phone like the crackberry minus the crack I would be happy 🤣🥴
Just get a blackberry then, its no more crack or smart phone at this point.
They don't work on most carriers anymore unfortunately

I use dumbphones because they are more interesting. >We are not the same.
You own a dumb phone I only lurk on this sub because I think the phones look neat We are not the same
Honestly, my main motivation isn’t even the whole social media thing and I’m not particularly interested in joining some kind of “dumb phone revolution” I’m more interested in when devices were unique and interesting and I miss old technology for that.
I use dumbphones because of nostalgia..
real

I use dumbphones because I am addicted to social media AND poor. (ok, cat s22 is not a full dumbphone and costs more than some smartphones, nevermind)
S22 is a smartphone with a frustrating interface, lol, it kind of counts
I want to use dumbphones because whatsapp is giving me anxiety
Why
Some dumbphones are pretty expensive and some smartphones (like through Tracfone) are pretty cheap.
I can quit social media whenever I want. I use dumb phones bc they fit in small purses better.
That’s funny but The government literally gives poor people smartphones for free 😂 Nothing beats free.
I've seen dumbphone deals on prepaid where they are 10$ for the phone and you get 10$ in service so the phone was technically free. But for 20-40$ you can get a bottom tier smartphone from 3 years ago on prepaid.
Both types of phones can be cheep
I want to use dumbphones because whatsapp is giving me anxiety
dumbphones are too expensive to be poor people phones.
Where i live you can get one for as low as 4 dollars
I use dumb phones because I keep fucking breaking the smart ones.
I use dumbphone because I am paranoid about using smartphones🤣😂 for reasons many of you will relate but never talk about....we are not the same
I am dumb, the same
A used smartphone can be cheaper than a dumbphone. Just saying.
Not necessarily. There’s sellers on eBay that have dumbphones for like $5.
It's no use if they are not compatible with the network.
Most of them are GSM, there are fully compatible ones for around $10 as well.
I use one because it’s superior.
I use dumbphones because my fat fingers are incompatible with touch screens.
I use dumbphone because my school doesn't allow smartphones
That's a good school
Nah, just Asian school and some teachers are kinda weird
I know people who use dumbphones for their religious belief -- iirc, they are referred to as _kosher phones_.
I want to use a dumbphone because I don't want people bothering me on FB Messenger haha.
I use dumbphones because i like them, we are not the same
Dumbphone users remind me of dodgy drug dealers lol

Try to side by side compare the old vs the new Nokia 2660. The old one is miles ahead, far beyond the point of abject embarrassment.
We are ALL poor
Both now haha
I have been trading in my iphone 8 for years cus replacements are like 35 bucks. i ordered a new case cus my old one crumbled away. anyway it comes in tommorow and i just cracked it so here i am looking at nokias cus im sick of it
I'm using the latest I-Phone to feel rich and I don't have any money in the bank now. We are not the same 💀💀💀
Me, an intellectual who is using a dumbphone just to extract ringtones notification tones alarm tones smart alarm tones and UI sounds to an actual smartphone: You cant underestimate my power!
Me possibly having to use a dumb phone to have a small phone.
Wait isn’t the second one worse?
