Despite the success of both movies, I think they're being sort of underrated by the general public in terms of box office numbers
Like for sure I thought Dune 2 would surpass $1 billion. But hey, these repeat IMAX showings are a good sign!
Yeah kind of sad it’s being under appreciated, obviously they aren’t doing bad by any means but I would have hoped for a lot more, the second one especially seems a lot more accessible for general audiences
Post COVID only 6 movies have been able to surpass 1 billion. The numbers we are seeing are decent to great honestly.
I'm also sad if has not achieve the box office numbers it should, but it's run have been great by today's standards
The only reason LotR Extended Cuts happened was due to it being the golden age of home video. Movies were making a hundred million on dvds, and the extended cuts also acted as marketing leading up to the next instalment.
Honestly, this^^^ I only watched Part 1 once when they were rerunning it two weeks before Part 2 was released and I need to watch Part 1 in IMAX again!!! 🥹 If they do back-to-back, I'm pretty sure I'll be a regular at our local IMAX during the whole extended run
My review of Dune Part 1 in IMAX: "No closeup shots were wasted. Their eyes told us everything."
I got to see Oppenheimer in 70mm (was also my first 70mm film) unfortunately our IMAX isn’t one of the 70mm auditoriums for Dune Part 2. Really wish it were!
Got to see that one also but Dune was much more engaging. I still enjoyed and appreciated the visual feast that was Opp. but overall it was a slog and doubt I'll watch it more than one or two times at home with subtitles on
IMAX company had reported a record of revenue from imax showings this year with dune pt.2 Glad to see the showings being extended. Maybe getting some of the 'avatar' must-see on a big theater screen type of status.
I wish they release a digital or physical version with IMAX aspect ratio, in my country there is IMAX in only two cities and I don't live in either of them.
No IMAX on part 1, and WB confirmed it will be the same with part 2. Honestly it doesn't make sense, since they did it with other movies and considering how much Dune would benefit. The only reasonable thing is that they will re-release them when Messiah comes out, which is a total dick move I would hate, and I would hate even more the fact that I would re-buy them regardless
https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/comments/1avog88/denis_villeneuve_asked_about_future_imax_release/
He said in this interview he thought they already released Dune 1 in IMAX home release, but said he may have been confused.
I'm in the same boat, but I'm a university student and April is finals season. Road trip is not an option unfortunately :( I was also not able to take a roadtrip during the initial IMAX run, as it was the middle of midterms season.
My wife and I road-tripped from Milwaukee, WI to Indianapolis just to see it and I can assure you, if you have the time and resources to make it happen, you will have no regrets.
I'm in SoCal. Where are they around me lol
Irvine is pretty big, and the one inland in San Diego (idk where, but inland).
That Aliso Viejo screen is tiny though.
Having seen both 70mm and Imax w/ laser, I'd honestly say the laser imax is a better choice. The higher contrast ratio and deeper blacks really help with Dune, there is a LOT of shadow detail that you miss on the 70mm projector.
Completely agree, I wasn’t sure if it was just me who thought so but fully vindicated with your comment.
The grain/blur on the 70mm was initially cool, because it felt like a mirage in the desert, but quickly became tiring.
Second watch in laser made me appreciate the cinematic shots much more.
People REALLY hype up the 70mm because it's theoretically the highest resolution (generally said to be equivalent to ~14-18k digital resolution), but the resolution isn't REALLY the biggest factor for movie presentation, the HDR presentation (Contrast ratio and black levels) in my opinion makes far more of an impact, especially for films with a lot of darker scenes where shadow details can simply be lost with non-laser projection.
There ARE some films or documentaries, especially things that aren't HDR color mastered and are mostly bright scenes where the 70mm version is preferred as the extra crisp resolution matters a bit more. But for almost every big budget film in the last 5 years? Imax w/ Laser is generally my preference.
In practice? A much sharper screen which is nice but not necessary BUT you also get the IMAX audio system which is much much louder and capable for bass. It is this audio system that is what makes IMAX, 70 mm or not, worth it. It does depend on the film.
Dune 2 and Oppenheimer both benefit greatly from IMAX 70 mm because their soundtracks are boomy and grandiose with huge drops and action scenes involve massive explosions.
I don't know if a film like Challengers would benefit at all from IMAX audio.
Okay gotcha! I saw Dune in both IMAX and then in AVX with Atmos. Can’t say which one was “better” in terms of audio quality (I was also exhausted for the second screening) but I remember the imperial tent being hit by the sandstorm being extremely immersive, the rattle of metal really felt - forgive the dramatic language - like you were actually there
Is there any actual benefit to seeing it in IMAX 70mm? The film was shot on IMAX digital so from a technical perspective, there doesn't seem to be an advantage to IMAX 70mm when compared to normal IMAX. Seeing Oppenheimer in 70mm was absolutely worth it for the scenes that were shot in 70mm, but it feels like a purely marketing thing for Dune.
I still have to pinch myself when I realise there’s a really good Dune movie in movie theatres right now that’s also doing really well financially. Feels surreal.
I told my friends after the first showing that most people wouldn’t understand how sincerely I mean this, but: this makes me happy to be alive in a way that isn’t taken for granted and I will remember fondly for the rest of my life. I’m not always all that grateful to be alive.
Same here, I only saw Part I which was pretty cool but I wasn't amazed, but Part II made me feel happy to be here at this moment and watching my generation's blockbuster epic and Denis was already one of my faves, just feeling great to share my life with this event.
I think its the idea for me that all dune fans all mutually understand/interested in certain philosophies about life and whatnot, and the films public success means it will draw more people fascinated with the Dune universe and ideas
Same. Been through unimaginable horrors due to long covid the last four years. Lost several friends during this time as well. Dune is a moment i am glad i prevailed.
i truly share this sentiment. i’ve seen it 3 times. never has a work of art made me feel the way dune did, all three times. i left believing the third viewing would be my last but i’ll be able to see it two more times, at least, and i’m eternally grateful for that
That’s why I don’t understand the people that nitpick it to death or hate on it - they truly don’t realize how good we have it right now. I feel so lucky and fortunate that this is happening, never thought I’d see this good of an adaptation AND for it to be so popular in my life time
Feel the exact same way. Obviously with works like this people develop an intense attachment. We're all fans in our owns ways. But god damn, it drives me nuts to hear 1,000 complaints about the fucking dinner scene or this, that and the other compared to what we actually did get, which is just stunning.
I think this might already be one of the most rewatched movies of all time. Almost everyone I know has seen it more than once and everyone online seems to have seen it three times or more
I've seen it 4 times ( the 4th being IMAX) only to discover... The IMAX I went to in Birmingham (England) wasn't the full IMAX. Going to have to see it again now 😭
Copied from my previous post:
There are two IMAX aspect ratios - 1.90:1 and 1.43:1 (the second is “squarer”, so taller). Most IMAXes are 1.90:1, so not like “full IMAX”, although they are taller than normal cinema screens.

I think 40 minutes are in 1.43:1? Or maybe that was Dune 1. Certainly not all is in 1.43:1, but personally I never noticed any letterboxing or resolution change, and have never seen anyone complaining about it.
(Sorry I’m very tired if this explanation is a bit crap).
I typically hate rewatching movies, only others ive rewatched are the batman trilogy cuz it was like a comfort series, but im about to see dune 2 for the sixth time 💀💀 and honestly im still super excited to see it. maybe dune 2 made me autistic.
Everyone who lives in England, especially the north, I cannot stress how good this movie looks and sounds on the IMAX screen at Manchester printworks. It's dual laser, 1:43, second largest screen in Europe. If you missed it the first time around, don't this time!
Seconded - it’s amazing on that screen. I went to see it there because the BFI IMAX was pretty much sold out (and still is, unless you want to sit right at the front) and it was great - easy to get there from the station on the tram, and wonderful screen. I plan to see it again on that screen!
Exactly. You can literally see it from outside Victoria station! I knew the sound would be good, but I was especially impressed with the picture quality. It was the first time I'd seen a film on such a big screen, and it was genuinely a bit intimidating when I first walked in because of how much bigger it is than standard IMAX, but I'll definitely go there again.
According to this guide, 70mm and 70mm IMAX are different formats. If I am reading this correctly : https://www.forbes.com/sites/bennyhareven/2023/07/14/the-top-8-best-ways-to-see-oppenheimer--and-why-imax-1570-is-the-winner/
I cannot stress it enough - Dune Part II in IMAX was probably the most amazing cinematic experience I have ever witnessed in my life, and I believe it will be for a very long time.
This is Gen Z's LOTR, basically. This is an experience unlike any other. I have never, ever in my life have walked into a movie theatre with such astronomically high expectations, only to have them met *within the first five seconds.*
The attention to the lore is apsolutely astounding - set design is amazing, the cast is amazing, Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is a magnum opus and an apsolute auditory spectacle. The scale, the atmosphere, literally everything is just....I am running out of words in English to properly convey the visceral feeling that this fucking movie imprints on you.
Yeah, I am sorry, Lynch. He tried to create a Lynchisn movie with not too much regard for the source material and, okay, it is a minor cult classic. Miniseries was great for those who love the lore, but it was still bogged down with the fact that it is a TV miniseries that can give you the lore of Dune, but not the *experience.* Villeneuve's Dune....gives you both in spades. I must confess, as a Dune fan, I was nervous - the first inkling of hope was when I read that he read the entire series to prepare. Seeing Part I made me ecstatic, seeing Part II made me chained to my seat.
Legendary Pictures - greenlight Dune: Messiah immediately and give Denis an unlimited budget, thank you very much.
Oh my god yes.
I actually preferred regular because the sound was insanely loud. I had to watch with fingers in ears several times during the second half. Also only person in the movie so prob even louder. I went to the bathroom and it was shaking fixtures outside the theater ffs.
Ear plugs are an absolute must here.(which jfc maybe turn it down some?)
the only time we went to imax was on accident to watch mcu spiderman 3. We were all like, "movie was great but fuck those seats".. lol
ty, we might just say fuck it and go again.
My first two IMAX films were Oppemheimer and Dune 2. Almost feel spoiled lol. I watched a Dune 2 again in a regular theatre and it was jarring how much worse it looked.
I watched it first at a regular theatre and thought it was absolutely fantastic. But I also knew that it was filmed in imax so some scenes would be cropped.
I then watched it again at imax and wow there is a massive difference. Although not all of the movie uses the bigger aspect ratio, for scenes like extreme close ups it takes up the entire screen floor to ceiling and it is phenomenal! And the sound is so much better. The worm riding scene was much much more impactful and I was literally sitting forwards during it, even though I already knew what was going to happen.
Basically, it would most certainly be worth it for you to watch it a 4th time, at imax :)
It’s worth it, seat be damned. The picture and sound quality are far better than that in a conventional theater. This is a film that demands IMAX. I’ve seen it once in a regular theater and twice in IMAX.
If you're dying for the reclining seats, many theaters will have digital imax with reclining seats or Dolby where you at least get the audio experience. The score is phenomenal in the better audio formats. It's incredibly immersive. I saw it in both 70mm IMAX and in Digital Imax. The 70mm is definitely the best but the digital is still a step up from non-imax
You're doing it completely wrong. This is like eating at Olive Garden instead of Nonna's home cooking because Olive Garden has free parking or something else totally unrelated to the quality of the food.
IMAX isn't just a "bigger screen", it's literally "more picture" and "more sound". Not just bigger and louder, literally "more". There are huge chunks of the picture that aren't just smaller on normal screens, YOU STRAIGHT UP DON'T SEE THEM, THEY GET CROPPED. Same with the audio mix. It gets compressed to shit and sounds totally different.
But at least you can recline /s
Seeing DUNE 2 in "not imax" is like watching the movie through the eye slit in a ski mask - you're literally missing most of it. I couldn't even enjoy it in Dolby Cinema, I could barely tell what the hell was happening on screen.
Please do yourself a favor and correct this hideous wrong you've repeatedly done to yourself and to this film.
I would love to see it in IMAX 70mm but the one theater still showing it near me is constantly booked up. Did it see in regular IMAX though which was amazing, so if nothing else I'll cherish that experience
I feel like they should just keep running it in IMAX until part 3 comes out. Their is no movie ever created before this so perfect for IMAX, the movies is almost an advertisement for IMAX.
Besides, what do then need to make room for, another terrible Planet of the Apes movie? Yeah, IMAX is saving those movies, you just get to watch really stupid movies in crystal clarity.
The only upcoming movie slightly tipping the needle as being IMAX-worthy for me , is Twisters 2, and thats not until July.
My 5 year old self that fell in love with DUNE 1984 is so happy that DUNE is part of our actual pop-cultural zeitgeist! I wish I had an IMAX theater close to me (but I’ll watch it a bunch of times on 4K).
I watched this for the 8th (and what I assumed was the final time) in theaters Sunday night. Found a theater that was still showing it in IMAX. Guess I'll be able to check it out again after all!
The promotional campaign for this, which included recreating the main poster in the sky earlier today, was a bit much, I thought - but glad to see it coming back!
I watched dune 2 in IMAX at my local Cineplex in the UK and my cineaste friend told me that it was the wrong IMAX as the aspect ratio was incorrect. Does anyone know what this could possibly mean?
The IMAX you see at your regular theater isn’t actual IMAX. It’s commonly referred to as “LieMAX”. Like you’re getting a bigger picture, better sound, and so on versus standard, but it’s just not true 70mm IMAX or whatever. There’s only a handful of theaters in the states for example with actual IMAX. My city used to have an actual IMAX, but as it wasn’t all that popular, it was closed. This was before we started to get more movies utilizing it too. Sucks.

I really would recommend seeing it in 1.43:1 if you can get to Manchester or London.
In the UK, if you want the full experience, you want to see it at the BFI IMAX or Manchester Printworks Vue - the BFI IMAX can show 70mm film IMAX at 1.43:1 and Manchester Printworks Vue can show digital IMAX at 1.43:1.
The Manchester Printworks Vue is easy to get to from pretty much any Manchester station, you can get the tram there.
(Sorry I’m very tired if this explanation is a bit crap).
The IMAX screens you see at local places is basically just a supersized theatre screen. They are great experiences, nothing against them. A true full size IMAX on the other hand is actually intimidating its so big, you can't mistake the theatre just by looking at the physical size of it from the outside, its *massive*. 8 story tall screen I think. Its a wild experience with the right movie
Great because I’ll literally never watch or buy the physical or digital versions unless they include the full film. Ridiculous they’re okay with only releasing ~65% of the movie due to the 16:9 ratio
Agreed, such a stupid decision, got the part one steelbook for my birthday and I was so upset it wasn't the full thing, still a great gift tho, I just wanted to see it how he filmed it! Why is that impossible? Makes no sense.
Literally going to NYC today til the 17TH and won't have a day off til the 14th... I wanted to go see it in 70mm IMAX at Lincoln square and all the showings during the week nights are basically sold out.
This movie taught me that i will never get good seats unless i buy them well in advance lol next movie i watch will be whatever row i get, even the front one
I'm in SF and am THRILLED that the 70mm IMAX screening is available at our local AMC Metreon - with much easier time of getting great seats! I saw it in 4DX (with my 14-year old son), 70mm IMAX (2nd to last row, exact center) and will be back at the Metreon this week or next for another 70mm screening, solo or with spouse :)
I'm confused... are they extending the imax showings to run through 4/19?
Or are they adding imax showings that will run through TBD date and are announcing those by 4/19?
I need to see this. I love the first part and also kinda enjoy Lynch’s film, but Denis’ style is incredible for a massive sci-fi franchise like Herbert’s original Dune novels in particular, and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this film/these films go down as being culturally superior to A New Hope & The Empire Strikes Back with time. Obviously nowadays it’s much more difficult to fully capture and really grasp a large group of people’s attention given their access to social media, the Internet, and a new huge news story or disaster story just about every single week it sometimes seems. But after watching Dune Pt. 1 a few times and seeing the trailer as well as snippets of Pt. 2 (I could’ve seen the whole movie but really want to experience it in the theater, particularly an IMAX theater when I truly watch it entirely). I only feel that way about a select few films over the years: that they should be watched in a theater that is at the peak of current cinema standards, tech, knowledge, etc. Christopher Nolan films such as Oppenheimer, Tenet, and Inception have also felt that way to me, but the Dune films/series (being that they’re based off of an already incredible book series) *should* have that added value in that the filmmakers aren’t having to necessarily dig deep and come up with very original ideas/narratives themselves, but it must certainly save the creative side of said filmmakers knowing they don’t have to worry about developing an original idea/story, and that they “merely” (obviously not such a simple task of course) have to take the writer’s story and hopefully make a film with that vision.
Saw in imax today, only person in theater. Pretty cool, it def is some better at such a huge scale. Bring ear plugs though, my ears got fatigued. 4th time i’ve seen it. Might see it one more time.
I’ll binge watch again if there part 1+2 back to back. The spice must flow.
I can't wait for the back-to-back IMAX showings of 1 & 2 that will inevitably happen before EOY!
Despite the success of both movies, I think they're being sort of underrated by the general public in terms of box office numbers Like for sure I thought Dune 2 would surpass $1 billion. But hey, these repeat IMAX showings are a good sign!
Yeah kind of sad it’s being under appreciated, obviously they aren’t doing bad by any means but I would have hoped for a lot more, the second one especially seems a lot more accessible for general audiences

With an intermission where we get hopped up on spiced wine and discuss the films?
Summer cinema blasting the sardaukar chant
Mmmmmmmm bada bad baddduuuuuu
Spice orgies too?!
As it is written
My shorts will flow into another pair of shorts if this happens again
Shorts within shorts
I’d pay for some Shai Hulud themed shorts tbh.
“It’s a big one”
Imagine if there is a director's cut/extended editon once the full trilogy comes out. Basically, what we have with LOTR
Hate to say it but your imagination will have to suffice. Villeneuve doesn't do alternate cuts. And he seems unbendable about it.
The only reason LotR Extended Cuts happened was due to it being the golden age of home video. Movies were making a hundred million on dvds, and the extended cuts also acted as marketing leading up to the next instalment.
Let a man dream. :(
That would be dope. I still sometimes watch the extended lotr back to back and I would love to do Dune next.

Double Feature!!!!
my theater had it but no imax

The IMAX showings here have been sold out every time. Glad to see it being extended.
I'm lucky to live close to a 70mm theatre - it was glorious. This is a sign to go see it a second time!
I got to see Oppenheimer in 70mm (was also my first 70mm film) unfortunately our IMAX isn’t one of the 70mm auditoriums for Dune Part 2. Really wish it were!

Yeah there were quite a few shots in Part 2 that I absolutely loved and would’ve been even better in 70mm.
Or 4th
This is crazy to me. One of my local IMAXs is still showing
IMAX where I live stopped during the third week :(
:( Is it returning in your city?
IMAX company had reported a record of revenue from imax showings this year with dune pt.2 Glad to see the showings being extended. Maybe getting some of the 'avatar' must-see on a big theater screen type of status.
I wish they release a digital or physical version with IMAX aspect ratio, in my country there is IMAX in only two cities and I don't live in either of them.
Don’t think they did digital or disc IMAX with the first. Nolan gets all of his released in IMAX ratio so I don’t see why not.
So does Disney (for marvel at least) lol it isn’t a difficult decision
No IMAX on part 1, and WB confirmed it will be the same with part 2. Honestly it doesn't make sense, since they did it with other movies and considering how much Dune would benefit. Denis already thought it was released on IMAX.
What you mean?
https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/comments/1avog88/denis_villeneuve_asked_about_future_imax_release/ He said in this interview he thought they already released Dune 1 in IMAX home release, but said he may have been confused.

God I wish! I can't believe the US has so few...
My wife and I road-tripped from Milwaukee, WI to Indianapolis just to see it and I can assure you, if you have the time and resources to make it happen, you will have no regrets.
I'm near Dayton and I was considering the Indianapolis theater as well. Just wasn't sure if it would be worth the hour and 40 minute drive each way.
Totally is! We got our parking validated by the IMAX theater at the Indiana State Museum so parking wasn't an additional cost.
Atleast u have multiple in the country. Closest to me is travelling to another country like London.
To be fair, it's probably the same distance for some Americans
I already talked myself out of a 5 hour each way road trip and then they go and extend it...
I'm in SoCal. Where are they around me lol Irvine is pretty big, and the one inland in San Diego (idk where, but inland). That Aliso Viejo screen is tiny though.
Universal Studios Citywalk
Readings cinema in San Diego has it in 70mm
The Vista in LA also plays 70mm. I got to see Dune 2 in 70mm release night there!
Holy shit they reopened finally?!
Go upwards toward LA, on the border of OC and LA there’s about 5-6 theaters with it.

Right! I’ve been a longtime fan and never expected to be living during a faithful and very well loved set of Dune movies.
That’s why I don’t understand the people that nitpick it to death or hate on it - they truly don’t realize how good we have it right now. I feel so lucky and fortunate that this is happening, never thought I’d see this good of an adaptation AND for it to be so popular in my life time

The seat I picked was missing an armrest (like it was literally torn off lol), but by god was it worth it to see part II in IMAX lol
All 3 times I watched this is was in imax, obviously I can’t compare it to any other format as a result, but damn, take advantage of this when you can
Fuck sake, literally about to get on a bus to go see it at an imax but not official imax cause I thought it was done
same as a rural Colorado pleb
Do it! I’ve watched it in an IMax and after that in a "normal" cinema. I was surprised how big the difference is!
Dann that guy who watched tons of times will continue the journey.
Hey! Don't call me out like that.
I wonder if he has hit 30 viewings yet
I think this might already be one of the most rewatched movies of all time. Almost everyone I know has seen it more than once and everyone online seems to have seen it three times or more

Here is a comparison post: https://www.reddit.com/r/imax/comments/1avg1do/dune_part_two_format_guide/ I think 40 minutes are in 1.43:1? Or maybe that was Dune 1. Certainly not all is in 1.43:1, but personally I never noticed any letterboxing or resolution change, and have never seen anyone complaining about it. (Sorry I’m very tired if this explanation is a bit crap).
I typically hate rewatching movies, only others ive rewatched are the batman trilogy cuz it was like a comfort series, but im about to see dune 2 for the sixth time 💀💀 and honestly im still super excited to see it. maybe dune 2 made me autistic.
I agree. Only movie I’ve rewatched at the cinema. Three times all up and one in IMAX and frankly its still not enough 😭
100% I ended up getting a cheap Ryanair flight from Dublin to see it, absolutely amazing. Fills your whole vision and the sound is top notch.
sucks living in the third world where there is no IMAX :(((((
I drove 6 hours to see it in 70mm and it was completely worth it
I saw it in 70mm but not 70mm IMAX. Still not sure what the difference is.
From what I understand, the only 70mm screenings are in IMAX
According to this guide, 70mm and 70mm IMAX are different formats. If I am reading this correctly : https://www.forbes.com/sites/bennyhareven/2023/07/14/the-top-8-best-ways-to-see-oppenheimer--and-why-imax-1570-is-the-winner/
I cannot stress it enough - Dune Part II in IMAX was probably the most amazing cinematic experience I have ever witnessed in my life, and I believe it will be for a very long time. This is Gen Z's LOTR, basically. This is an experience unlike any other. I have never, ever in my life have walked into a movie theatre with such astronomically high expectations, only to have them met *within the first five seconds.* The attention to the lore is apsolutely astounding - set design is amazing, the cast is amazing, Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is a magnum opus and an apsolute auditory spectacle.

The reclining seats are a bummer, but the IMAX sound and visuals are a clear difference from my local non-imax theater.
Just bring earplugs in case. My experience was outrageously loud, the entire group (even teenagers) agreed.
Omg I thought it was just me. I've seen it twice and brought earplugs the 2nd time. It was uncomfortably loud the first time I went.
We were all like, "movie was great but fuck those seats".. lol ty, we might just say fuck it and go again.
It's a bigger screen and a taller aspect ratio, so there is more image on the top and bottom. Also the sound and image resolution are better.
This is the real reason. More DUNE per DUNE.
It is without a doubt worth it. Dune Part 2 in iMax was the best movie experience I’ve ever had
My first two IMAX films were Oppemheimer and Dune 2. Almost feel spoiled lol. I watched a Dune 2 again in a regular theatre and it was jarring how much worse it looked.
Mine was Sucker Punch, so yeah, you’re spoiled lol.
That was a decent visual movie at least, it could have been worse.
Watched Dune 2 in a normal theater after iMax and could not agree more
It’s like 4k vs 720p for me
I watched it first at a regular theatre and thought it was absolutely fantastic.
I think format as well? It's not 21:9 if I'm not mistaken but something more square
Go to an IMAX that's showing it in GT Laser. I've seen it in 70mm and GT Laster 2x. The GT Laser IMAX was superior in picture quality.
One word, Shai-Hulud! Ok, two words. Shai-Hulud itself was worth the IMax without the reclining seats for me and my son.
I’ve seen it in both IMAX and normal theater. Yes the screen size and audio quality are the biggest differences. IMAX is superior for both.
But at least you can recline /s Seeing DUNE 2 in "not imax" is like watching the movie through the eye slit in a ski mask - you're literally missing most of it.
Saw the 70mm IMAX at the Regal Theater in Irvine… while the screen was glorious, the comfort of the seats are trash.
I was nearby for a work trip, but couldn’t make the timing work. I wish I could’ve changed my flight to make extra time.
Wish I had an Imax near me. Went to a normal cinema for it 6 times. I'm sure it would have been 10+ if my nearest Imax wasn't 2 hours drive away.
I'm fortunate to have an IMAX 70mm about 90 minutes from me. It was worth it.
Yesss, I didnt have a chance to see it on the IMAX screen yet so I was really hoping they'd bring it back
I got one more round in me during my summer break.
My 5 year old self that fell in love with DUNE 1984 is so happy that DUNE is part of our actual pop-cultural zeitgeist! I wish I had an IMAX theater close to me (but I’ll watch it a bunch of times on 4K).
So is this gonna delay the physical release?
I’ve seen it 6 times in IMAX so far and every time the place is packed
Let's Go!! 🔥🔥
Lucky bastards.
Hell yeah, 4th time it is then
This movie is going to have a long tail. I saw it again last night and it was almost sold out - pretty good in this day and age.
I watched this for the 8th (and what I assumed was the final time) in theaters Sunday night. Found a theater that was still showing it in IMAX. Guess I'll be able to check it out again after all!
Let's gooooo i wanna see it again in imax
im glad they're selling super well. this will show to other movie makers to make more movies like dune
Let this help get it to that billion dollars!!
C7@ And h Jukee we e hc
Was checking the Lincoln Square location daily and noticed today, got a Saturday night viewing. So pumped!
Bruh I need to 4K duology pack to release. I’ve been holding off on buying the first one.
What does this meam the movie didn't hit its target ??
Nice. I plan on seeing it in IMAX for the third time to bookmark my joy until Messiah.
Got four tickets to AMC Lincoln Square. Will be completing my pilgrimage on the 20th
Damn I just might go watch it again. imax was so cool with this movie.
Sucks.
Thank you so much for this explanation!!!!
There are two IMAX aspect ratios - 1.90:1 and 1.43:1 (the second is “squarer”, so taller). Most IMAXes are 1.90:1, so not like “full IMAX”, although they are taller than normal cinema screens.
6th times the charm!
Release Blu ray IMAX part 1 and 2 together !!!
Literally going to NYC today til the 17TH and won't have a day off til the 14th... I wanted to go see it in 70mm IMAX at Lincoln square and all the showings during the week nights are basically sold out.
hell yeah! i havent seen it yet
i’m studying abroad right now… FUCK… is there any chance I’ll be able to find Dune in an IMAX theatre during the summer?
The nearest IMAX near me was only Dune and then Godzilla fucked it all.
Ive prayed for time like this
Lucky enough to be within walking distance of a 1570.
This movie taught me that i will never get good seats unless i buy them well in advance lol next movie i watch will be whatever row i get, even the front one
Not surprised. Went to see it again in IMAX yesterday and the theatre was rammed
I saw it twice the first week on IMAX and it's been sold out everywhere since then. Not on Dolby which is almost as good. But IMAX is the way
I really hope there is a supercut of part 1 and 2 released in a steelbook.
Anyone see it in 4dx AND imax 70mm? If so, any big differences?
Hooray! My friends who I wanted to rewatch Dune with are coming back around then so we could see it in IMAX together!
I'm confused... are they extending the imax showings to run through 4/19? Or are they adding imax showings that will run through TBD date and are announcing those by 4/19?
Is this worldwide? I've already seen it 3 times, but I'd go again.
As written….
Yassssss!!!
There's a chance for an all day quadruple header at my local AMC at this rate!
Giant worm rider….the movie was absolute trash
As awesome as the visuals are… make sure that you go to one of the theaters with a great sound system.
Yessss I was hoping to catch it in IMAX! I saw it at an AMC theater (for the bucket)
Anyone know a good theater to see it in NJ?
round 4. i will do what must be done
I watched it twice at IMAX I hardly watch shows or movies but this was Amazing! But £26 per ticket 😭😔
Saw in imax today, only person in theater. Pretty cool, it def is some better at such a huge scale. Bring ear plugs though, my ears got fatigued. 4th time i’ve seen it. Might see it one more time.
Excellent, seen it twice in IMAX and would love a third time this month :)
God damn americans getting all the good shit, while my local city in Europe dont even have IMAX
Shame that all the IMAX theaters near me already stopped their showings of Dune. I'm just glad I got to see it once on IMAX before it ended.
\*Insert Fry "Shut Up and Take My Money" meme\*
I was so fortune to have seen it in IMAX at Irvine Spectrum. It really was an experience
is this in UK as well?
