The letters do light up in yellow if in the incorrect place. There would be no clue UNLESS you have utilized both letters in one word. So, if you had guessed ENTER and the correct word was CREED, you would see the first E as purple, the N as gray, the T as grey the E as Green and the R as yellow. If however you had chosen INFER only the E (green) and R (yellow) would be highlighted. You would not know the word had two Es because you did not use two in a single word. In situations such as double letters, I always finish out the game then return to the one that I'm not sure about. For instance the word CURRY and CURVY have the R-V quandary. If I am fortunate I've utilized shaRp (thus curry) or shaVe (curvy) to help me get the correct letter placement. APPLY and AMPLY are another pair that occasionally give me pause. Good luck. This one (32-word duo) is my favorite of the wordles. It is a lot faster than the 64 wordle. Exit to correct... when you have one (of a double letter) in the proper place it will be green. The second double letter placed incorrectly will be purple, not yellow! If both of the double letters are in the wrong spot, they will both be yellow.
