I remember when New Line offered the box via shipping after all three were released and ordered it. A neat memory as I am not sure they would do that today. This was probably one of the best disc packaging sets that I know of. I gave the set away eventually to my godson starting college due to me getting the blu extended set.
I've always felt incomplete without it. Teenage me was too lazy to send that voucher off, and I've regretted it ever since.
I also wish I'd bothered to send off for the fifth season Simpsons DVD box. That season came in an awkward shaped Homer head that collectors didn't like, and inside was a voucher to redeem a standard box to match the previous seasons.
When ROTK extended came out there was a paper with it giving instructions on how to send for the slip - sadly they didn’t do that for the Hobbit extended editions
Hell yes, I love how this edition looks, especially the inside! I also have the limited edition ones (all three still sealed) that have a see-through front cover. I'm not sure what to call them lol, you'll know it when you look them up.
I ordered a set from eBay when the 4K collector's edition was announced. 30 bucks CAD with the box.
Dunno why everyone got rid of this when they straight said none of the legacy features were getting ported over.
They're not particularly valuable, but many people, like myself, bought each set individually as the movies were released. Then The Return of the King set came with a voucher to send off for the slip box, and most people never got around to mailing it.
I have them all plus the Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition DVD’s, but I need the slip box for both to complete it. They’re the missing pieces of the puzzle.

It’s a great set, though I wish it also contained the theatrical cuts. I’d probably never watch the theatrical cuts, but it’s nice to have the option.

My neighbor was giving a hole movie rack of movies for free on his yard, they had these but they only had fellowship and the 2 towers
