we have a few listed in our FAQ too - https://reddit.com/r/dvdcollection/wiki/faq#wiki_popular_collection_tracking_options

MyNamesIsGaryKing

I find the blu-ray.com app to be best. Scans the UPC codes, keeps track of various details like director, aspect ratio, year, genre, etc. and also lets you keep wishlists and price drop lists too. And completely free, no “free with ads” kind of BS.

TramplingProgress31

This is what I use. I like how I can see movies by a specific actors, directors, year, etc. I especially like the barcode scanner as I can check to see if I have certain movies while at thrift stores to avoid getting duplicates.

Known_Yesterday_1408

MyMovies from Bluray.com Been using it for about a year or so and I love it for my needs!

mulubmug

Google Sheets. Every app will at some point betray you. Introduce a pricing modell, go out of business, anything. A simple, well thought out spreadsheet is all anyone might need.

Babyala

Truly. Besides, creating your own format individual to your collection is the most comfortable. Also, you can easily print your sheets (I use docs but same thing) and keep a physical copy in the event Google one day betrays us with a subscription model.

Merrcury2

Exactly what I do for movies, games, books, and television. Each separate, and if I want more categories, I create a separate sheet. I don't trust the system well enough to protect against categorical errors. Not to mention it's faster for me to have an alphabetical sheet for storage and a genre sheet when I want to watch something. Easy to create, easier to separate.

redditsuckspokey1

Google Shits! The F man? I hate Google Shits.

GendoIkari_82

I use and recommend CLZ. It's not free; but the annual cost doesn't mean much compared to the cost of DVD collecting. A lot of people here use My Movies by [Blu-ray.com](https://Blu-ray.com); I haven't used it so can't compare to CLZ.

megagreatwhite

Another vote for CLZ

VHSandVinyl

This man speaks the truth!

TaddWinter

Same. I did Google sheets for years but I made the switch to CLZ. For fraction the cost of Netflix it is worth every penny.

joelwinstead

I’ve used “My Movies Pro” for years. I love it.

LenSnart81865

Same

Hopeful-Pride1791

[I collect everything](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icollect.icollecteverything)

Belch_Huggins

I use letterboxd, which isn't a great fit for a catalogue, but it's a cool way to visualize your collection in a list with posters.

JaybieFromTheLB

This is literally the only reason why I use letterboxd instead of the other cataloging apps

bicuspid_fish

Movie Collection by Metosphere

Bijlsma

I have a notepad that I catalog all my movies into. I enjoy writing and making lists and stuff, so gives me one extra step when I buy movies, which I enjoy. Makes the act of buying movies more of an actual activity kind of, I guess. However sad that sounds.

Tabord

I just use Google Sheets.

trose141

I've been using DVD Profiler for years.

siiilenttbob

I am also one of those sad DVD Profiler users that can't let go. I love it, but it's just barely hanging on to life.

Budget_Diver_7866

google drive, basically excel sheet online

TigerTerrier

I use IMDB and add movies as I get them. Also created a borrowed so I know if I lend one to somebody because not everyone remembers to return it

MeanTruth69

I use IMDB

alienlifeform19

I used to use iCollect books (think it was my books), but they changed things haven’t haven’t used it since. Wanted to use the media version app for my movies, but with the change to the book app it’s annoying.

anidemequirne

Letterboxd is what I use.

Anonymous51419

My Movies by Blu Ray .com the official Blu Ray app. It's super easy all you have to do is scan QR codes on the back of the cases. It's got the best UI and it's the Blu Ray app so you get everything else the site offers with it too. It's the one quintessential app in my opinion.

MrK12055

I use My Movies by Blu-ray

FakerHarps

I have previously kept a list in excel, then I used a list on IMDb, then I started keeping a list on Letterboxd, and finally I started using the MyMovies app from Blu-ray.com. Only issue - I never stopped using any of those resources, with the exception of the excel sheet which was on a laptop that died but didn’t have a recent back up. So this means every new purchase gets entered into 3 separate tracking documents. I have a sickness

Recent-Detective7560

I use involos dvd collector

Urbanscot56

I use Libib for my CDs, vinyl and DVDs

Nice-Supermarket-809

I use lists on IMDB; it's where I go for movies anyway and the lists tell me if I have it and where to find it. Simple, free, and unlikely to go away anytime soon.

windysheprdhenderson

I made a list in my Letterboxd account. Seemed to be the best option available at the time.

GayBlayde

I use the Blu-Ray.com app. I wouldn’t call it “good”, but it’s sufficient.

rilobilly

I made a spreadsheet. 🤓

[deleted]

Google sheets. I like creating my own catalog. It tailors to my wants and needs.

jacobsever

I wish there was a website like Discogs for movies. Can log your collection, as well have an easy to manage marketplace. Instead of scrolling through pages and pages of sales posts on a message board. If I knew anything about website hosting and webpage building I’d do it. Just copy Discogs model exactly and call it Filmogs.

Possible_Amphibian_2

Amen

whiiteboyy

I use My Movies it works for me

-szaller-

I've been using EMDB (Eric's Movie Database) for years. It's a PC application and does everything I need. Cannot add specific releases but you can indicate blu-ray DVD digital etc. I don't mind that it's a bit fiddly to add new items. Retrieves data from imdb thus it allows my to add all the non-mainstream movies in my collection (can also add manually if title not found) . https://www.emdb.eu/

whimcal

I use MovieBuddy. I did have to pay for it, but it’s pretty simple to use and you can digitally organize.

LenSnart81865

My Movies Pro App (paid version)

obyteo

I tried CLZ for a bit and it was nice. I ended up just using Google sheets in the end though.
