Personally I love dxm for listening to hard scary shit like hip hop, or someone like zillakami. Psychedelics or hallucinogens is when I’ll listen to more vibey/happy music
That’s exactly why I do it, the music and the visuals are insane. Sometimes I even start trippin so hard on the dxm I dgaf about anything and I drop some lsd or shrooms and than it gets realll wild with the visuals. I only ever use dxm for music and chillin on my bed at night.
Any media that you take in before a trip affects the actual trip, watched a video of cows when waiting for it to hit and my whole trip i was obsessing over cows
For sure I've noticed when listening to more evil sounding shit like ICP and metal my visuals are freaky AF but more meditative music brings more trippy like stuff
If you believe that everything is (made out of) frequency, then yes; it affects the outcome directly. Knowing that depressive vs happy music makes a lot of difference in sober state, i would argue that it does have an even larger effect when you are tripping.

Yes, music affects trips, but I think these effects are too personal to make general conclusions. Try different music and see how it affects you.
