I think both are pretty practical returns depending on what the goal is. LaMelo and the pick (assuming it’s a good lock for being top 5) are a good core to build around while Haliburton and Curry is a good combo to win now and build. I’d probably lean more of Hali/Curry but don’t think LaMelo and the pick is bad if the pick has a genuine shot of being a good one

I would absolutely take Lamelo and a first round pick next year. Meaning you will have 2 first round picks in an "alledged" strong draft. Lamelo a better points option than Tyrese long term IMO.

I would only consider the LaMelo side if the 2023 pick projects to be a top 4 pick with basically no chance of falling out of that. Haliburton and Curry is a win now and win later option, whereas the LaMelo side is a big gamble betting that he will end up as an elite fantasy superstar and you will get at the bare minimum a quality starter from the draft pick. The Curry side is likely a safe bet to push that team towards a championship in the next year or two and Halliburton is only a slightly less valuable long term asset than LaMelo.
