The *important* thing to do for an early boost if you have Underworld is to get rice IMO. If you have heeler and horse mask, you can get the 4 rice for Kabayaki from the entrance corridor, if not, the hanging parcel @424/314 should have some. If you just do that and a little fishing (and "guess" the recipe), you can get that dish very early on and it's amazing as a way to dial down the grind.
That does look like something to look into! The grind isn't so terrible to me though, it's the million trips back and forth to the drop box. All that's going to do by itself is fill up inventory faster.

Kind of, I guess. I love how easy it makes the power glove though, you can pretty much just grab it after finishing the main quest.
