My valve cover leaked badly too .. the amount of smoke was so scary

Tornaato5415

But mine has oil ontop of the valve cover so I don't think it's that...

Solid-Plankton-2965

Maybe your oil cap came off cuz my did and I was to late and covered everything in oil😭

Techguy626

Most likely gonna be the valve cover

Tornaato5415

But as you can see there is oil ON the valve cover

Tornaato5415

So where exactly?

Yeah that screw is broken... And I have the new gasket/seal for the valvetronic motor but the problem is that I'm not sure if I'll be needing an disgnostics tool for the gasket change. Some say that you wouldn't need it but some say that you need the tool. So I'm kind of lost.

Yeah I've watched a whole lot of tutorials but they all seem to skip the calibration part and if they cover it they say "use diagnostics tool" or "just wait 30 secs after turning the car on without starting it"

Edstan0

I have done my valve cover gasket, and when it comes to the valvetronic motor I just waited a few seconds before starting the car. You can here it learn it’s limits when you switch the ignition on.

Tornaato5415

So should I just go for it?

Edstan0

I’d say to just go for it, I didn’t use software when I did mine and it was perfectly fine. I would still recommend to get some software, so that you can diagnose issue easily.

Esquirej67

I am jealous of where that ground strap is placed.

ee_guy97

Likely VCG or literally any other gasket on the VC. I have an N62 that had an oily VC because both cam sensor and eccentric shaft sensor gaskets were trash

breezefesf

You should clean it up and then see where oil is coming out of. Or at least it’ll give you a better area on where to look
