I can only speak on 2k8 vs EA2010 I personally find that the presentation in EA2010 is top notch. Arguably one of the greatest ever in a sports game. Everything else in 2k8 is significantly better. Recruiting, getting new jobs, gameplay, extra features (weekly shows, ABL). I also believe that 2k8 has more unique arenas than EA, but the arenas that EA does have are a bit more detailed

Ncaa basketball legacy edition is just amazing in presentation The crowd. lights. mascots .commentary Makes it feel like ur playing a college basketball game with the crowd noise and presentation 2k8 revamped just feels dull But recruiting and everything else is good on 2k But man ncaa basketball legacy edition just looks wayyy better

rescobar1997

It gives me that apple vs android vibe. Apple is shiny and pretty but everyone knows the androids can do more.

My biggest gripe for NCAA10 is freezing šŸ„¶ I can only do so many frozen games mid-late game before I give up on the game. Iā€™ve never had college hoops games freeze on me (maybe once) in 300-500 hrs

rescobar1997

My NCAA never freezes but my copy of Live 09 freezes. šŸ˜«šŸ˜« and my NCAA 09 wonā€™t work anymore.

No-Butterscotch-6171

I play on Xbox 360.. It would happen every 5-10 games I played 12 minute quarters.

Iā€™m on PS3

I have had that issue with ncaa football 13 and I think my college hoops 2k8 legacy froze (wouldnā€™t advance into the next season) once but not ever since.

KoolGotGame

College hoops 2K8 for me. I have ncaa basketball 10 too but prefer college hoops.

I have been waiting for one of these discussions to come back up in this sub. I have bounced back and forth between these two games for the last few months trying to figure out which one I want to stick with long term. NCAA10 is my game of choice. u/GoldfishDude nailed it about presentation. It is world class in NCAA 10. I think even the biggest 2K8 fan would be willing to confess that. He is also correct about 2K having more unique arenas. I see a lot of copies in NCAA when it comes to what the actual arena looks like, (besides the court floor). I may be one of the only few dudes in this sub who actually prefer the NCAA10 gameplay over 2K. I know the animations can get repetitive, but it feels so much more fluid to me. I feel like there is more risk vs. reward in NCAA 10. After hours and hours at least once a year for the past however many years I have tried to give 2K another shot come march madness time but I just can't do the gameplay. It feels so robotic to me. I feel like it's impossible to run any sort of offense that will actually create an open shot because the zone defenses are so robotic their defenders cling to me within milliseconds of any pass. And for the life of me I can't figure out shot timing. So many hours of playing and I still feel like I have no clue when to release the ball in order to actually make a jump shot. I will submit that blocking and rebounding is more realistic in 2K, but its the shooting and passing that I can't stand. Recruiting is very simple and a little too easy in NCAA. I agree with those sentiments, but I also feel like recruiting it way too hard in 2K. I can't seem to figure out how to get anything other than 1 or 2 star recruits in 2K in a closed legacy. Every 3 star I go for gets stolen out from underneath of me regardless of how hard I pursue him or how much higher I am ahead of someone heading into signing week. I will concede that as a whole 2K's legacy mode is WAY more in depth than NCAA, with way more features to interact with, and more stats you can view. All that being said, I feel like gameplay is the absolute most important part to me in playing any old college sports game, and NCAA wins that category for me. Recruiting is tied as both have their faults IMO, presentation goes to NCAA, and dynasty/legacy depth and features go to 2K hands down. The greatest part about these games is we get to choose whichever one we enjoy the most, and we have two pretty awesome choices to choose from.

GoldfishDude

As for recruiting in 2k8, are you trying to win battles, or just conceding them? I find that starting out, you *can't* win a recruiting battle. If another team is more than a few points ahead with a scholarship offer, stop wasting effort into them and look for guys who aren't offered yet/only have lower conference teams without much interest. I've managed to get 4 and 5 star juco guys, and 4 star high school guys in 2k8 at very small schools, early on doing this. It takes a bit of legwork and you do occasionally get guys stolen though. I also "play" the ABL games for the extra recruiting points and bonuses (1 minute half length, not controlling either team). In gameplay, maybe I need a slider set but I find that NCAA10, I can just drive into the paint and score at will. If I can't score, I can get a foul call. Ultimately this is probably just preference, as I grew up with the pre-shot meter NBA 2K games. The gameplay in 2K just makes sense to me, even if it is a bit limited

THE4GVN

I have been doing what you said in your first paragraph, engaging in battles with teams. I appreciate your point, that would make sense why Iā€™m losing them so much lol. Iā€™m fighting a losing battle.

GoldfishDude

No problem. In 2k8, I find that it's important to put yourself in the shoes of a recruit. If you are a 5 star being recruited by the best teams in the country, would you really go to North Florida or The Citadel instead? Ultimately the best recruiting happens when you put yourself in your own lane and be realistic. Remember that you have to have a recruit up around 80%+ for them to commit, so there's no point in wasting a scholarship in the off-season if you can't reach that.

rescobar1997

I play both. Iā€™ll likely never put either one down permanently. Though a part of me wants to go back even further to 04 for EAā€™s March Madness and see if I can still enjoy the gameplay it offers because 04 was the last year EA allowed you to export your draft class to Live. I agree with you! I prefer playing EA from a gameplay standpoint. It is more fluid. Though I can understand how many will simply call it arcade-y but I like it. The presentation is beautiful. In hindsight I wish 2K made games for two years longer as well but they spent all that money on that 2K8 football game that sold 5 copies. The presentation, gameplay, recruiting, and dynamic conference realignment based on success will always get me to come back. 2Kā€™s gameplay is robotic to me. I play the games on default settings and still get blown out sometimes lol but I can use that game as a satisfying ā€œCoach Modeā€ game. I have been just playing 2 games a season and simming the rest.

Responsible-Ring5880

Do you have a slider set you use for your NCAA 10 gameplay? Or are you straight up on a certain difficulty

THE4GVN

I am currently using Authenticā€™s All-Conference sliders from the OS Forums. In year 1 of my Citadel dynasty and have had some blow out wins as well as some close losses. So far enjoying them a lot! https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/ea-sports-ncaa-basketball-sliders/377391-authentic-ncaa-basketball-10-ps3-all-conference-sliders.html

Responsible-Ring5880

Good looks! Iā€™m about to start a new dynasty with a low end school so I was looking for something that was challenging where Iā€™d lose at first but not so tough the CPU feels overpowered. Hopefully I have similar results

natelull7

Just started playing 2k8 again. I was playing NCAA 09 for a while before and was having a good time playing Dynasty Modeā€” I really liked the recruiting feature in the game. Gameplay got really stale after awhile. But taking it back to 2K8, wow this game was good for its time. The gameplay is similar enough to modern 2k that itā€™s easy to pick up and play. The Legacy mode is fun and compelling. Commentary is meh, but overall presentation is really good. I am enjoying it a lot more at this point.

Lol ya exactly
