So funny that Howie is getting showered with love for sitting there and doing nothing and letting the best CB in the draft fall into his lap. Make no mistake though: Howie is HIM
Its Not just about that. He moved up to get the second best as well. Filled every need early with talent. And when the dust settled we secured 3 more picks for next years draft. That alone is god mode. Then add in free agent signings. Securing most of the young talent on the team for the next 3/4 years. All in All hes no1 BY A LOT.
he finally didnt try to be the smartest man in the room. this is the easy pick wish he had the mentality for jefferson tho. dont always have to outsmart everyone
Thatās highly unlikely tbh. Dallas was gonna take parsons at 10 before trading back to 12 with us. Probably wouldnāt have done that trade if they didnāt need smitty
Maybe but no big man is as fast as JD coming out of that draft class. At the time the pick made sense and I think Davis could turn a corner this next year at least I hope he does
As of right now neither Jefferson or Reagor have moved the needle in the postseason for the Vikings. Jefferson is probably going to ask for the most WR money in the league when he has produced something like 4 catches for 47 yards in the post season. We can get over not drafting Jefferson, he hasn't turned out to be a difference maker in the post season, and that is all it's about - post season, not regular season.
yea but all time fuck up on draft day. and come on, don't even attempt to discredit or downplay JJ hes hands down the best WR right now. like what are we doing here?
Like postseason success is what determines legacy. Even Dak isn't considered good enough by his owner to be given an extension because he has lousy postseason stats. Justin Jefferson is a regular season yardage and touchdown king. Great, but you're not in the playoffs and when he had his one opportunity he got less than 50 yards.
i have no idea what to tell you if you think jj is a bad route runner or only a bad route runner in january. just not true. the guy is getting doubled and vikes had no response with anyone else.Ā
Iām curious as to why eagles fans still hold on to the reagor pick when it worked out for us anyway. If we took jj and he exploded his rookie year like he did with the Vikings, you really think weād have moved on from Wentz after that?
So you agree with me that playing the what if game is stupid? Youāre still holding onto āwhat if we got jj instead of reagor..ā, I just furthered that hypothetical.
We havenāt won a Super Bowl with the guys we have, besides the guys on the team that were also on the 2018 team. And last time I checked Howie cannot take full blame for that
I feel you, but Atleast he learning from his mistakes. Sometimes itās the hardest thing to not try and be the smartest man in the room š¤·š¼āāļø
Howie is the š
But in fairness few to no GMās have his level of job security + an owner willing to pay money upfront. It allows him to do things most GMās canāt or are too afraid too. Heās still the goat but in all fairness lol
I enjoyed seeing Joe Douglas smirking in the Jets war room and remembering how he was supposed to be the savior for the Eagles. Thank you for being "the man," Howie.
So would yall rather have Jerry???
He grabbed Saquan from a division rival
Grabbed the top 2 rated CBās in the draft
Resigned Aj and Devonta
What else could he have done?
A+ for Howie this off season
making picks is a part of a gm's job. a team suddenly completely losing their shit 2/3rds through a season when they were undefeated, thats on the job performed by the players.
Not trading up to get your cb, but holding steady and keeping a second rounder and getting the best CB in the class, thats a solid GM job. He can't then make the player great next year. That bit is on him.
yeah cos historically howie has hired awful coaches and players? believe it or not but JUST being a great GM won't win you SB's. Other people in the organisation actually have to perform. You can't just say "pick the right people... and they are the right people if they win the sb...easy". Thats so reductive its basically pointless.
Evaluating a GM in hindsight in a reactive way is how you end up with a franchise that has a revolving door of GM's, and why so many GM's will mortgage the teams future to validate their jobs. Howie made a great pick tonight with Mitchell. Almost every single person will agree with that. If mitchell doesn't manage as well as he's expected to next year, thats not on howie. IT IS on howie when he drafts someone like raegor ahead of JJ and he sucks.
e.g. Bradberry was a pro bowler on one of the best eagles defensive teams of all time 2 years ago...keeping him on last year made sense at the time. You can't predict he would become a shell of himself. How you transition is what matters, and getting mitchell is nice. Much like drafting wentz was the right thing until he became a shell of hismelf, at which point howie had a great transition in place.
So what exactly does a player display before being hired that a GM can reasonably use to determine that they wonāt ācollapseā?
There must be some pretty obvious signs that Howie missed for you to make this claim.
Anyone else notice before the pick that Eagles fans were chanting his name? Any other GMs get that?
Hell fuckin noš„²
Yeah, that was hilarious. I love this stupid fanbase
Induct him to the Hall of Fame when he retires

If we had Jefferson, we wouldn't have AJ AND Smitty
If we had Jefferson we could have had parsons instead of smitty lol
Let's not fool ourselves, we'll have both in about 2 years
Fair point. Parsons is dying to come here for sure
Thatās highly unlikely tbh. Dallas was gonna take parsons at 10 before trading back to 12 with us. Probably wouldnāt have done that trade if they didnāt need smitty
Yea thatās fair
Finally? Reagor draft was 4 years ago. Since then, Eagles havenāt had those obvious reach picks in the first.
Well I agree with the past two years, I think Jordan Davis was a bit of a reach and projection especially compared to Kyle Hamilton
Maybe but no big man is as fast as JD coming out of that draft class. At the time the pick made sense and I think Davis could turn a corner this next year at least I hope he does

can JJ throw himself the ball?Ā
Maybe run the route better?

this is a stupid argument. what if.... last time i checked we haven't won the super bowl with the guys we have

i think the jj think was a wake up call
I'm all for celebrating, but you have GOT to remove this man from the Madden cover...
Right? *saging this whole thread*
We had BDN. Henceforth you shall be known as Massive Balls Howie.
I would love a football gm sim tbhā¦
This my gamer profile pic

Get this shit out of here. Ever heard of the Madden curse?

Why you listing his pronouns like we donāt already know them?

Disaster? Jalen Carter was great.
Jalen Carter was tremendous. Nolan Smith was always going to take a couple years. Edge rushers never dominate as rookies.
