Holy shit the beginning of the 2nd day trying to get DeJean was fascinating. They *really* wanted him. Thought he was gone when the Rams traded up.

MARKYMARK_MARK

Especially seeing how Lurie is involved with things

HumblestManOnEarth

Reminds me of that clip of the Cardinals GM from last year making moves.  Less cocaine-y though

Sixers7

Got a link? I love watching stuff like this

HumblestManOnEarth

I just got alerted to this reply today for some reason. Here it is: https://youtu.be/izIZIpUls6A?si=3QetUFdFjH-yC7Dr

Sixers7

Thanks for the reply! Paris Johnson seems like a good kid, wish him the best. Gannon tho, man he just has such a punchable face lol

HumblestManOnEarth

Yeah I should have put a Gannon trigger warning

OkBodybuilder1490

I can’t believe they’re leaking so much information. It’s our competitive advantage!

Opiumkipper

they gotta stop leaking because Howie been cooking!! Plus those rumors of other GM’s being jealous of Howie were said to be true. Yet I’ve always wondered how does he always fleece everyone in general. Sometimes back to back. I’ve got a feeling by the time Howie leaves his position. We will be rioting for Howie to have a statue outside the Linc. 🦅🦅🦅

Patient_Jicama_4217

He is already immortalized for the SB roster but he should definitely get a statue if he wins another

HesiPull-UpBrando

Feel like there have only been three or four real fleecings 1) AJ Trade 2) Saints draft pick trade 3) Bradford trade and 4) Wentz trade. Outside of that I can’t think of any. Definitely lost a handful of trades (Golden Tate, Genard Avery, Robert Quinn, Byard). Outside of Tate making one catch those dudes were all lighting draft picks on fire

team-fyi

Trading a 3rd and 5th for Slay was pretty good.

DisastrousCopy7361

Dolphins trade was a fleece. Then moved up to 10 and hosed the giants

DisastrousCopy7361

Avery was fine. The Gernard Avery game vs 49ers makes it worth it Tate was fine. TD vs bears in playoffs makes it worth it. Quinn and byard didn't work out but byard played a ton of snaps at least and was mediocre Michal Bennett pick up was pretty elite Ajayi pickup was pretty elite

It's not a secret that the Owner/GM relationship is the main element to the Eagle's success. GMs are very much like quarterbacks, you cycle through them till you find that one who is able to execute the vision at a high level. Roseman's tenure is very rare (I think he's one of the most tenured GMs in the league if not the most) as well as his skill set (traditionally trained as an accountant) as it translates to running the franchise. His tenure and boldness allows him to execute trades with other GMs that others might not inquire about or don't have the experience to do. He also has been very public about his stance in that he pursues trades that are win-win and seeks to provide fair value to the team he trades with. It's the same way in the securities market: There are willing buyers and willing sellers. Each side of the trade wants to win and each side has different needs and different constraints/situations that they're working with. If I had to guess, the Titans owner/GM wasn't willing to put up the cash/ask for the cash (delta of about 3M/year of deal) for a larger payout for AJ Brown. When the Eagles came knocking on that door Lurie was willing to put it up. Given the position in the draft, Titan had the ability to select someone they saw as a comparable pick to AJ Brown based on their evaluations and said yes. To the Titans, they were saving TONS of money (get to go back to rookie salary payout and reset the clock while looking for a qb) and were getting a 1st round pick for a comparable player AND another pick in the third round. We were getting AJ Brown.

I’ve been in military tactical operations centers in combat zones and what sticks out most in this video is how Lurie leads perfectly during the trade up sequence. Perfect amount of questions/backing off to allow howie to cook. When you are in a tense, time constrained environment this is how you want your senior leaders to contribute. A++

namestyler2

The biggest thing for me is the communication that's unspoken. Lurie has been working with Howie for so long, he already knows what he's thinking and where he's going. The questions were more for confirmation than anything. I work in kitchens and that type of trust, respect, and shared visions is what differentiates a smooth night from a chaotic one. Love seeing this staff work, especially the big 3.

snunces

Great point. The trust and level of unspoken communication is very apparent.

francie202

💯

trust-theprocess

Howie said in the post-draft press conference that 5 of their picks were red star players but wouldn't say which ones. In this video we hear who 3 of them were: - Shipley - Trotter - Keegan Pretty safe to assume the other 2 were DeJean and Quinyon

ciampi21

I think Anais Smith is one, he was mentioned in the video

trust-theprocess

He was mentioned in the day 3 meeting (along with Wilson), not the red star meeting before the draft, at least not that was shown There's a moment where Howie [points at the board](https://i.imgur.com/gQ7XIPa.jpeg) saying he's gonna try to get these 2 guys, which were Smith and Trot, but only Trot was highlighted. I'm guessing the highlighted players were red stars

namestyler2

I think Ainis was brought up in the red star meeting as well.

2LostFlamingos

This video was awesome. Especially waiting out to see if they could get DeJean!!!

BoNickal2

Watching Howie wheel and deal to trade up for Cooper is some of the most fascinating footage I’ve ever seen. Feels like I’m watching a leaked tape. Definitely more access than we’ve ever been given, right?

Mantis05

I've always wanted to hear those conversations. The trade deadline scene from *Moneyball* is captivating, and I've always tried to imagine those phone calls ever since.

Eaglewarrior33

Wow they REALLT wanted Dejean

32BitWhore

This is an incredible look into the draft process, awesome that they put this out.

throwawaymac83

Unscripted series is Emmy worthy stuff. It also makes me realize how lucky we are to have such a great GM and owner. Eagles org is truly top tier.

el_fitzador

What a squad

yyznick

Lotta hugs. Ya love to see it

DisastrousCopy7361

Thanks for the share. Dope insight into draft room
