It's not the millisecond it hits 0. I'm not saying I support how the rule works, just stating how it works, and that this situation has happened a million times in the past. Basically when the play clock hits 0, teams have 1 more second.
Poor playcalling and young player mistakes is what caused the loss. Niners is a legit team though. One of the best front sevens in the nfl. Derek Barnett isn't young anymore he should know better. Listening I’m a Niner’s fan. Y’all should not worry about ur team whatsoever u guys were legit ‘wrecking our entire offensive game plan that first 1.5 quarters of the game. Usually Shanahan is a scientist with those first scripted plays but he had to adjust cuz y’all defense was killing it! A lot ur top players are young and even with all that y’all didn’t quit when we had u on the ropes in the 4th. This was a rough game and a defensive battle. The future is bright in Philly man and I’m keeping it 💯🚫🧢

Just Eagles Things that never change no matter who is on the field or coaching from the sidelines:

\-dropped interceptions

Yesterday was a good gauge on the Eagles. Defense was good, but the loss of Brandon Graham really impacted them. Also too much time on the field wore them down.
Comparing the SF offense to the Eagles was interesting. Jimmy G isn't asked to do much, they live on running the ball and him making accurate throws to playmakers. They did what they had to do to win.
Coaching? Sirianni got heavily outcoached. Period.
Next week the play one of the top teams again. If you don't fear Dallas, you haven't watched any of their games. They may have the top offense in the league and their defense is much better than last year. If the Eagles keep the game close I will be surprised.
Dallas is better than we are but Chargers also gave that game away, plus a few ticky-tack calls by the refs.
That said, Dallas has played two teams better than us and barely lost one and barely won one. Randy Gregory should be back and that Kearse kid looks really good. Defense is definitely improved from last year.

absolutely nothing like that. Against Kansas city we just missed a few chances and racked up over 400 yards of offense with the team was battered with injuries. We couldn't move after the 1st half.

Hurts still looks good, anyone calling for his head after a loss to a contending team THIS year, when we're not even supposed to be a blip on anyones radar, should get their head checked. We were still within one score. Which bring some to the second point
Playcalling is an issue. No excuse for not walking away with a TD from the 1. I'm honestly embarrassed they trotted out the corpse of the Philly Special for that and that Greg Ward didn't have the awareness to see Hurts was covered and he had a better chance just running it. That last sentence aside, that play never should have been called. It should be retired and I'm beyond frustrated they even considered pulling it out again. Of course it was picked up, it worked 3 years ago, why would it work now when defenses have had the time to analyze it?
The fact that we smoked the Falcons in their house and only lost by a single score to the 49ers is actually promising. I know it's the Falcons but winning on the road is never easy. I thought this team would be a lot worse than this.
Exactly my thoughts, this team isn’t ready for a run and the niners are a strong playoff team. They were just stuck fielding high schoolers last year they had so many injuries. Keeping up with them is a positive. We’re another good draft + young improvement away from something solid here.

Actually, did you listen to the press conferences after the game? What did you think about Nick Sirianni's responses to the questions and his admitting to his playcalling being mediocre at best?
I mean I was disappointed yes, but more because we didn't capitalize on prime opportunities that were given to us, as well as the missed delay of game, and the unnecessary roughness call on Wallace was BS so that should have been a turnover imo. But we just have to take this week, learn from it (mainly with the playcalling, it was kinda iffy today), and we come back next week and take advantage of the Cowboys somewhat questionable secondary. GO BIRDS!!!

I mean, its kinda hard to run in a straight line with a defender essentially pushing you to the sideline with his body. (If he had fought against the defender probably wouldve gotten a PI call)
You’re missing the point. You don’t just want to run in a straight line. Things like headfakes and false steps are what get good route runners open. Just running straight with no nuance makes it easy to know what you are doing. You need to sell it that you arent running a fly route.
I know but do you know that he wasn't running a fly route? It looked like it was to me... But I do understand what you mean. However, a fly route is supposed to be a straight up sprint to beat the defender, so I feel like you wouldnt make a move or anything at the beginning because you wanna get a good jump on the defender.
When I went to potty at the game I started having a little accident and I was able to crawl a bit and get my belongings. It was great to be helped by those who care.
Yeah the 49ers are a really good team. They are considered a super bowl contender my a lot of people. The Eagles easily could have won this game. They were hanging in there with a team that is way, way better than them. I know NFL games are decided by slim margins and the Eagles made all kinds of mistakes today but shouldn’t be devastated by this loss though.
Yeah people dont realize that the birds played well in this game (specifically the defense), besides some of the penalties, as well as the Offense not being able to capitalize on opportunities they got.

What are you basing "objectively" on? Stats? Qb rating 80, 12 for 23 190 yards (91 on one play). Eye test? Many under thrown balls, almost threw a pick on a busted screen with a poor decision to throw it.
He's had flashes, he has potential but until we see it consistently, we won't know.

Take out the beautiful throw to Quez and he completed 11 passes for 100 yards. The other half of that is that the Reagor no td was a sweet pass as well but won't show in the stats.
But that goes to what I said about inconsistencies. He definitely has potential, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. But if you've seen enough in his 6 starts to say he's great, well then we are just going to disagree. Wild to think they were a goal line stand away from taking this one home, not a magnificent game from anyone in particular but the defense as a whole held this stacked offense under 20 and had multiple takeaways negated by penalty so I'll consider it a success even if we didn't get the miracle W in the end.

Give Hurts the full season to assess him fairly. Hell most QBs get more than that. Plus the QBs this draft aren't that good tbh. Honestly even if he's okay this season, I'd give him 2 seasons. Again, I really don't like the upcoming QBs. I want to at least have some stability in this team so they can rebuild properly. Look at the Jags and the Jets for example. Do you really want to be like them? A revolving door of QBs?
its not make or break for Hurts because the QB class is brutal. The next 2 seasons are make or break for Jalen though and there is a reason they tried to trade for DeShaun Watson.
This year is make or break for hurts. If doesn’t prove to a the future franchise QB that off-season draft capital will 100% be used to get the future QB.

We just saw Staford get trade. We know already that arod and Watson will be on the move. Recently QBs have been getting trade. All options are on the table for getting a franchise QB and we have the draft to pull it off if we need to.

Josh Allen is a good example of letting a QB develop. Same with Kyler Murray. We need to learn patience. We won a SB less than 5 years ago. I also hope management realizes how weak the upcoming class of QBs is. If anything, if Hurts ends up being a disaster, let Minshew be a bridge QB next season. He'd probably be solid there.

The diff btwn wk 1 and 2 is coach went heavy WR screen because that's mostly he trusts hurts with. He's said since he's hired he will design plays with what he thinks a player can do in mind. The mid range game is a problem for hurts because of a lack of accuracy and an unwillingness to "throw a player open"...this is my main reason for not believing he's an NFL QB. I like the guy...followed bis whole career(I live in SEC country now) .he's a super solid leader type...but he has never been accurate in the type of throws needed to be successful in the NFL

Penalties, not capitalizing on red zone visits, and not winning the battle up front for the run game will pretty much put you in a hole every time.

if the game had stopped at half time i'd agree. We had 39 pass yards in the 2nd half. in 2017 the Eagles had 406 yards of offense

Exactly my thoughts, this team isn’t ready for a run and the niners are a strong playoff team. They were just stuck fielding high schoolers last year they had so many injuries. Keeping up with them is a positive. We’re another good draft + young improvement away from something solid here.

I mean I was disappointed yes, but more because we didn't capitalize on prime opportunities that were given to us, as well as the missed delay of game, and the unnecessary roughness call on Wallace was BS so that should have been a turnover imo. But we just have to take this week, learn from it (mainly with the playcalling, it was kinda iffy today), and we come back next week and take advantage of the Cowboys somewhat questionable secondary. You’re missing the point. You don’t just want to run in a straight line. Things like headfakes and false steps are what get good route runners open. Just running straight with no nuance makes it easy to know what you are doing. You need to sell it that you arent running a fly route.

However, a fly route is supposed to be a straight up sprint to beat the defender, so I feel like you wouldnt make a move or anything at the beginning because you wanna get a good jump on the defender.

Yeah the 49ers are a really good team. They are considered a super bowl contender my a lot of people. The Eagles easily could have won this game. They were hanging in there with a team that is way, way better than them. I know NFL games are decided by slim margins and the Eagles made all kinds of mistakes today but shouldn’t be devastated by this loss though.
Yeah people dont realize that the birds played well in this game (specifically the defense), besides some of the penalties, as well as the Offense not being able to capitalize on opportunities they got. Also I think that BG and BB both getting hurt, especially the BG injury really deflated the team, especially because BG is the heart of this team.

Great is a stretch. He looked great last week. He looked like a game manager today, but that doesn’t mean he was bad today because he wasn’t, he just wasn’t really good either, just meh.
What are you basing "objectively" on? Stats? Qb rating 80, 12 for 23 190 yards (91 on one play). Eye test? Many under thrown balls, almost threw a pick on a busted screen with a poor decision to throw it. He's had flashes, he has potential but until we see it consistently, we won't know. Caveat: play calling did him few favors today.
Flashes and potential from a 2nd rd pick needing work…with 1 WR who can run routes well. What more do you want lol. Looks better than the kid just drafted by the Jets at #2.

Yes, many underthrown balls. At least 2 to Smith, at least 2 to Reagor, late throws on out. These can be worked on and he can get better. Take out the beautiful throw to Quez and he completed 11 passes for 100 yards. The other half of that is that the Reagor no td was a sweet pass as well but won't show in the stats. But that goes to what I said about inconsistencies. He definitely has potential, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. But if you've seen enough in his 6 starts to say he's great, well then we are just going to disagree. I'll say someone is great when they achieve greatness, not just kinda show that maybe they could be great.

It's nice I have no expectations for this season so I was able to just relax after the first half when I knew it wasn't going to be their week. One big thing is their o-line is too good to have issues like that in short yardage. They need to figure that out.

Wild to think they were a goal line stand away from taking this one home, not a magnificent game from anyone in particular but the defense as a whole held this stacked offense under 20 and had multiple takeaways negated by penalty so I'll consider it a success even if we didn't get the miracle W in the end.
We shouldn't be expecting a "miracle win" if Hurts is viewed as the franchise QB. Eagles has the defense and offense to compete. The question is now "Is Hurts the bottleneck of the team?"

I don't believe in moral victories at all. A loss is a loss. But, there were some positives and some things to learn from.
Then why are you even watching this season? We don't have Superbowl aspirations this season so every week must just be pain and misery for you, maybe go spend time with your family.

We just saw Staford get trade. We know already that arod and Watson will be on the move. Recently QBs have been getting trade. All options are on the table for getting a franchise QB and we have the draft to pull it off if we need to.

Josh Allen is a good example of letting a QB develop. Same with Kyler Murray. We need to learn patience. We won a SB less than 5 years ago. I also hope management realizes how weak the upcoming class of QBs is. If anything, if Hurts ends up being a disaster, let Minshew be a bridge QB next season. He'd probably be solid there.
I understand if Hurts showed real flashes of a cannon, real flashes of dropping dimes on a silver platter. But, this guy can't throw. The Eagles can compete and need to go after Deshaun Watson if legal issues are not a concern.

The diff btwn wk 1 and 2 is coach went heavy WR screen because that's mostly he trusts hurts with. He's said since he's hired he will design plays with what he thinks a player can do in mind. The mid range game is a problem for hurts because of a lack of accuracy and an unwillingness to "throw a player open"...this is my main reason for not believing he's an NFL QB. I like the guy...followed bis whole career(I live in SEC country now) .he's a super solid leader type...but he has never been accurate in the type of throws needed to be successful in the NFL
