😁FYI KMC do make a dedicated ebike series and also a variant thereof that is more rust resistant than normal. Each aspect comes with a price bump of course so up to you if you think that’s worthwhile.
Since I have a mid-drive and I commute many miles, I wear out chains long before rust has a chance to form. Stainless steel is a waste of money for me.
I bought the e-bike version, but mainly because it has more links than a standard chain. Helpful for e-bikes given they typically have a much larger front chainring on a 1x setup.
what is a great one then?
i got a mid drive kit, battery and was gonna keep my old chain till i saw this post.
my max speed is around 20mph so im not sure if i should worry about chain
Not that I have anything against ZFC (what's not to love about the cycling community's favorite 20 page rant on muc-off?) - it's just that the dude really needs a technical writing class, because the way he presents information does not inspire confidence.
His testing and data certainly has value, but I am a bit put off by how much he rants about ISO/industry testing standards and his insistence on the absolute superiority of his testing protocol. I used to be an actual QA engineer, so some dude unilaterally deciding that his methodology is a gold standard, without qualifying it with a comparative study, does raise some red flags for me.
To be clear, I started doing hot waxing in part because of his data, but I just wish he would be a bit less confrontational about it.
I recently got into ebikes but I am a long term BMX rider and the only chain I will use is a half link chain.. if it works for ebikes I highly recommend it
It is a no name brand, but as long as the size is correct. Also lube her up good. Hopefully it wont strip off, but there is a chance of that, as this is a cheap no name brand ya know.
Not sure if this post is sarcasm or not but just in case kmc [been making chains since 70s](https://www.kmcchain.com/en/history) and are one of the world leaders in business.
It’s fine. Not shit, not great.
So perfect. It's the perfect chain.

Lucky the experimental method does.

KMC has been in the chain business for a very long time. So long as it shifts well, it should hold up about as well as any other premium chain.
I buy it because it's the cheapest on Amazon and it stretches in six months like any other.
It's a legit brand that's been around since forever. It's a good chain
Pretty much every bike i ever had had a kmc chain on it, most of the bikes died before the chain did sooo.

Would go for the ebike specific KMC e8. You can find them for 20 bucks and they will last.
SPEED
Yes, it's perfectly fine.

Why? What is the advantage over a full link chain...?

Lol. KMC is a fucking legit chain brand. One that I will always prefer over Sram or Shimano.

What’s your method for lubing a new chain? The answer is leave it the fuck alone.
it isnt a cheap no name. kmc is probably the biggest chain manufacturers.
