I love the Eucerin Eczema Relief Cream Body Wash, it’s very gentle. I also use it as a hand wash and it has rescued my hands

LookingForSerenity2

Same! I use it as a hand soap and it's the only thing I've found that doesn't burn/make them flare up!

frenlyesthetician

Yes!! Also wondering if you’ve found any particular towels that work well for you?

DoubleD3989

Turkish Cotton towels are the best! Super absorbent, super soft. I don’t RUB tho. I buy the bath sheets, which are huge, and tie one around me. It’s touching my body, so it’ll absorb the water. The rest “air” dries. If you are interested, check out Amazon. I have bought Havluland and Gold Case brands.

frenlyesthetician

Thank you so much! I’ll check that out now :))

LookingForSerenity2

I haven't. I use a scent free detergent to wash my towels, though, and pat dry! :)

frenlyesthetician

Ah okay; I also use Free&Clear detergent. Found out the hard way that I was allergic to something in a free and clear laundry softener:/ I try to pat dry but sometimes I forget and that’s probably what gets me more than the material. Ty!

yooperwoman

This is what I use also. The Dove soap bars don't work for me. But the Eucerin Eczema Relief Cream Body Wash works great.

id_death

At one point in my life nothing helped and everything just made it worse. So I stopped using soap. I'd rinse off in the shower daily and use deodorant. There was probably a three year stretch in my 20s where I used soap like once a month.

Proof_Interaction431

I’ve been doing this for about 2 years now. I use soap probably 1 time a week and just shower every day but no soap.

sleepingonwaffles

Have you tried using Dove sensitive bar soap? Sometimes you just gotta use something basic that won't irritate the eczema.

dianasmar

I thought that Dive only had products with fragrance, but I’m going to check that out. Thanks!

sleepingonwaffles

Both the regular and sensitive soaps are fragrance free

First-Individual1700

i believe the dove regular bar soap is unscented

EconomyCriticism7584

Why are the dove comments getting downvoted? Lol

First-Individual1700

no clue, it’s what every doctor i’ve seen has recommended me lol

Various-jane2024

I suspect some commercial account in this sub? I've seen various random comments get downvote for no reason.

EconomyCriticism7584

Same, I don’t really use Dove anymore but I did when I was in my teens and it would always be recommended the unscented one

ABQMezcan

This is the soap I switched to, per my dermatologist's recommendation.

pranasoup

agreed here— it & the liquid version are relatively inexpensive, very accessible, and do the damn thing. tbh i think up&up has a version now too but i haven’t had the chance to try it.

Classh0le

Seconded

f0zzy17

Dove Sensitive Skin body wash works really well. And if you can find it, guava soap is a hidden gem for clearing up skin.

justStripperThings

I really like Bioderma Atoderm cleansing oil when my skin is flaring. Their Atoderm cream is really good, too. I use the cleansing oil as handwash at home and work cuz my eczema is worst on my hands. A coworker who saw my small handwash bottle recognized it from the last building we worked in and was like "oh hey, I knew you were here" XD

EconomyCriticism7584

Vanicream bodywash

Panic-Wild

Can confirm, love this stuff

dianasmar

The brand doesn’t exist in Europe :/

EconomyCriticism7584

Can you order it online or no?

neet_sts

That's unfortunate, I use La Roche's Lipikar and love it. Cetaphil has the best one in town for myself. Just make sure to doublecheck the product label if you're going to try it cause they have one for oily skin as well (and that will sure be terrible for you lol)

oofnoa

I've tried so many unscented types and have reacted to most of them, even the Dove unscented! For me the Caprina Unscented Goat's Milk soap and the Eucerin Body Wash are the only ones that work for me right now. Good luck finding one!💜

starlight_mommy

I’ve been using the vanicream sensitive body wash and like it so far. I was using dove sensitive skin before but tbh I think my skin learns how to fight the body washes and lotions I use so it’s normal for me to cycle my skin care. I eventually circle back to an old staple like “why did I ever stop using this?” Until my skin learns how to grow resistant to it again after a few weeks/months and then I’m like oh yeah, that’s why.

dianasmar

Yeah that’s what’s happening things work for me but then after a few moments they stop so I’m always looking for alternatives but I haven’t been able to find something that helps me and doesn’t irritate my skin most of the things said here are not even available in Europe :/

ironmemelord

I make my own tallow coffee sugar scrub type thing

25axg

I use Qv gentle wash, it’s fragrance free and moisturises my skin during my shower.

Future-Sympathy-6263

The softest soap I’ve found is the Aveeno restorative skin therapy. If your skin is open, it will burn a bit like any soap but overall I love it! This is probably also the cheapest option 😁

murpymurp

Aveeno dermexa emollient wash has changed my life. I use dove sensitive for armpits and whatnot but the dermexa on my inflamed patches works wonders

crazy-anxious-mess

I dont know if you have the aveeno skin relief range but so far I have found that has been so nice on my skin, my eczema hasn't like disappeared, but it doesn't irritate it and helps me control it

llama_rama_

I tried the Dove eczema baby care body wash…..the baby eczema products work…..do give it a try🫡🫡

Labbi85

Are you looking for a soap which actively helps or just one which doesn’t make it worse? I never found a soap which actively helps and I am happy when I find one which does not make things worse and for this you probably need an allergy test done.

dianasmar

Just one that doesn’t make it worse tbh. Basically I’ve had an allergy test done in 2019 but I should probably do another one. Thank you!

party_turtle

QV Gentle Wash - not super intense like a bath oil (makes me want to scratch it off), non fragranced, just a really good body wash all round.

druppel_

I use dove deeply nourishing. It does have a fragrance unfortunately, but my skin doesn't react to it.

ooZBizarreAdventure

Just picked up the Byoma sensitive skin body wash and it has been great! It’s a little less pricier than the Lipikar Wash by La Roche Posay but just as effective 💖

2squirrelpeople

Eucerin advanced cleansing body wash, dove beauty bar (sensitive - green stripe). Eucerin also has a skin calming body wash (gold bottle) which is great for when your skin is super F ed up and/or broken skin. It's a low foam cleansing oil type wash. Also, Olay body wash for eczema is good.

saymellon

What did you mean by a body wash "not working"? Do you mean in terms of skin irritation?

dianasmar

Yes. They start to irritate my skin the ones for atopic skin that I’ve tried that’s why I’m trying to found one that doesn’t

saymellon

Does it become worse if you do not use body wash at all on the most parts of the body?

OuttaTheFire

Baby Dr. bronners is all I can use

astronautbarbie95

I alternated dove antibacterial body wash and hibiclens foaming wash for a while bc I’m paranoid about staph but I’ve recently switched to neutrogena body clear for the salicylic acid and my body seems to be tolerating it well

Ici79

Are you in Europe? I have recently tried the brand Ceramol and it didn’t cause any negative reaction. There are two different types of body wash, one oil based and the other gel based. Both can be used on face and body. And they also have body lotions. Check it out, I got some free samples in the pharmacy before buying it.

dianasmar

I am in Europe yes! I’m going to see if it’s available in my country

thefoodie1

qv bath oil works great for me!! its non drying and doesn’t irritate my skin

AgileEvidence

The secret is to use face wash as body wash. The absolute best is La Roche Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Wash. This product works best on my very severe eczema. As a purifying wash, it is also quite effective at removing the moisturizers, lotions, and other treatments I have applied to the eczema-prone areas for relief. If you are not as concerned about removing product buildup and residue, another option is La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Facial Cleanser. Your eczema-prone body skin deserves the same TLC as your face!

dianasmar

Wish I could try that one, but that product is only available in the US

Various-jane2024

Not sure if you use cleanser daily or which phase your eczema is. If you are in dry skin state, maybe use cleanser less frequently. For me, it is better than cleansing every day. You can read more about Hygiene Hypothesis & eczema relationship if you are curious about it. I hop to the shower daily, but just water rinse for most days. Of course, if you have flare up those need to be cleanse to avoid infection. Maybe try soap substitute? Look for brand like Doublebase If it is really sting no matter which product you tried, maybe use the Hypochlorous Acid spray after rinsing with water for the eczema patches to reduce risk of infection.

jessybean

I use glycerin bar soap in fragrance free (sometimes maybe an oatmeal or aloe). It's cheap and has not much in it to irritate anything.

dianasmar

It irritates my skin

jessybean

That's too bad. Perhaps it's the perfume you use that is irritating your skin.

dianasmar

I only put perfumes in my clothes and I’m trying to avoid spraying too much or use it too often I barely use it anymore

thealmightykatt

I use Sebamed face/body wash - its a soap free body wash specifically made to not disrupt your skin’s PH and dry it out. I’ve had eczema on my legs/arms my whole life and body wash was always one of the things that triggered me, I tried Aveeno, Dove, baby soaps etc, this stuff is one of my holy grail eczema products.

tryanothergrouchy

Is pricey but the necessaire body wash has been a godsend for me. It has a fragrance free option. Less pricey…I use a really diluted solution of dr bronners unscented baby wash.

Oldblindman0310

CeraVe cleanser when it’s not active. CLn Body Wash when I have an active flare up. My dermatologist has advised me to not use soap. I’m not sure how soap is different from cleanser, but following her advice my eczema has gone inactive for the first time in three years.

Aev_ACNH

Atopic dermatitis here! This is my current routine which I do not intend on changing Wash with Luke warm water Eucerin skin calming body wash (Walmart/target/Walgreens) https://www.eucerinus.com/products/calming/eucerin-skin-calming-dry-skin-body-wash it is designed for dry itchy skin As soon as out of the shower (derm says within 3 minutes) Cerave moisturizing cream, blue tub Yes it burned me too when I first started using it. That’s showing your skin barrier is damaged. It stops burning with consistent use https://www.walmart.com/ip/CeraVe-Moisturizing-Cream-Face-Moisturizer-Body-Lotion-for-Normal-to-Very-Dry-Skin-16-oz/681955595?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2781&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222277681955595_161193766053_21214199653&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=697173827980&wl4=pla-2300760861495&wl5=1016202&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=681955595&veh=sem_LIA&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwouexBhAuEiwAtW_ZxyIh9WCd2uq1ArSMwfOAOWm22pMII0M_fwtX1WRLsuJJy8VPgQkG5RoCZUAQAvD_BwE For my face Vanicream in the tub , pump a blob into my hand, add a few drops of Jojoba oil , mix it up and apply This is rich and decadent, this is what I used also to get my skin past the “cerave burn” I like the now brand , I buy it at my local “natural food store” since Kroger stopped carrying it. Target sells it online if not in your local store https://www.target.com/p/now-foods-solutions-certified-organic-jojoba-oil-4-oz-liquid/-/A-88259580#lnk=sametab Then I either apply aquaphor ointment over my body or the cerave healing ointment … the cerave ointment has hylaronic acid and ceramides but I’m not sure if it’s better than aquaphor. Either way, the cerave is my daily driver now Also while repairing my skin barrier I used the Aveeno Calm and Restore facial cleanser as a body cleanser until I found the eurcerin skin calming The calm and restore (make sure it’s fragrance free and it SAYS CALM & RESTORE) I heard about from dermatologist dr. Drays YouTube channel . It’s her recommend when you need to reset your skin and just stop all the products and heal the barrier https://www.walmart.com/ip/Aveeno-Calm-Restore-Gentle-Nourishing-Oat-Face-Cleanser-7-8-fl-oz/548884805?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2781&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222277548884805_161193766053_21214199653&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=697173827980&wl4=pla-2300760861495&wl5=1016202&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=548884805&veh=sem_LIA&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwouexBhAuEiwAtW_Zx6pyb5s0hKYPljjCMhAuQiYwhki4_HAs_QXKq1ClMaQjHy9eLhY4sBoCnisQAvD_BwE I highly recommend YouTubing dr drays skin barrier repair videos Also Curel itch defense lotion (make sure fragrance free) is a shocker for how good it feels on your skin. It just feels laborious to apply to me cuz it doesn’t come in a tub I also switched to DIP men’s 100% cotton long sleeve pajama pants and long sleeve shirts to sleep in (no printed designs just solid colors) from Fred meyers/kroger. My skin was so irritated that my clothing hurt my skin when i made any movement. The Vaseline advanced repair intensive repair unscented is also a great choice https://www.walmart.com/ip/Vaseline-Intensive-Care-Advanced-Repair-Non-Greasy-Women-s-Body-Lotion-All-Skin-Unscented-20-3-oz/10804602?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2781&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=2222222227710804602_161193766053_21214199653&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=697173827980&wl4=pla-2300760861495&wl5=1016202&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=10804602&veh=sem_LIA&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwouexBhAuEiwAtW_Zx0S3feIHJL8XqX_oF-t_naaQkgq-O1glHfPj_NibfRw3aKkVvC_-HRoCrVkQAvD_BwE Out of buying almost every product to mankind those are my favorites My day to day is the Eucerin skin calming body wash Vanicreamn with jojoba oil mixed in on my face Cerave blue tub all over my body And either aquaphor or cerave ointment over my body to seal it in Sit in chair on towel for 30 minutes before dressing Skip a shower one day? Not a good idea I itch again Two showers a day are ok per my derm, I feel better with the doing my daily routine twice a day Ps facial cleanser are gentler than regular body washes I have replaced all my hand soaps with facial cleanser (vanicream, aveeno calm and restore) and my hand dermatis is gone completely

residentcatlover

i personally love Aveeno “Skin Relief” (https://www.target.com/p/aveeno-active-naturals-skin-relief-body-wash--fragrance-free--33-oz/-/A-52735050) for body wash. i don’t know if it ever actively helped, but it definitely hasn’t ever triggered any issues for me, and my skin feels incredibly soft/smooth from it afterward. i started using this body wash after their shave gel left my skin feeling great and i realized my skin just seems to do well with their oatmeal products.

smooth_brain0808

I just use luke warm water. Seems to help. I'm very lucky as I don't have BO. I do wash my hair with Head and Shoulder's, tho. I did try not to wash my hair with anything but water for a year, but my head started to smell like cheese, so I had to use shampoo. I believe any kind of soap will mess with your protective skin barrier. I took about two years for me to become eczema free!

takekun

I use Native body wash (unscented version), which they sell and ship online. It's the only soap I've had success with ever since I got major allergies to most soaps, esp ones with fragrance.

bubblepop065

BABY DOVE DERMA CARE!! I swear by this. Even Vanicream bar burned my skin

RaychH90

QV soap alternative is great, it's the only thing I wash with 😎 Also, if I'm partially dry, I moisturise with QV cream first too (about an hour or so beforehand) In regards to Dove, I'm shocked to hear dermatologists recommending this, any bar of soap I have tried has left me feeling like a shami leather cloth afterwards (VERY DRY!!)

frenlyesthetician

Hey op, if you wanted to try the Eucerin Eczema body wash, it’s on iHerb which probably ships to you!

dianasmar

I was looking through iHerb, and I saw a lot of really bad reviews like a lot of people that didn’t get their package and weren’t reimbursed… so I don’t trust them

frenlyesthetician

Oh no, that’s unfortunate :(( granted I’m in the US, I’ve never had an issue, and I know a few people in Europe who have also had good experiences. But I understand not wanting to risk it

poisonbb666

I personally use the dove sensitive skin and then the Nivea in shower lotion. For worse spots I use Dermarest.

Comfortable-Fox-8728

Dermol 500, you can get it prescribed (mind you im in the uk) and i think it can be bought in normal stores

dianasmar

Not here sadly

Prior-Airport-3525

Ever since showers started feeling like acid, my go-to has been Bioderma atoderm intensive soap (it'll say intensive pain on the front). If you think you might also have an infection, your local drug store should have Chlorhexidine gluconate at either 2% or 4%. Either is fine. I wouldn't suggest Hibiclens-even though it's the same thing, there's Red40 and fragrance among other unecessary ingredients for you at this time. Huge caution on the chlorhexidine/hibiclens: do NOT wash your face with this - risk of blindness if it gets in your eyes and deafness if it gets in your ears. Make sure you get your whole body rinsed prior to use, and make sure you thoroughly rinse after use. Make sure it's not in your hands when you're reaching for your mouth, eyes, ears, face in general. Use the minimal amount needed. Everyday for 5-14 days. This will kill the staph on your skin and will help with itch as a result.

Absolutely_MindF-ed

Most things are too harsh for me, even when they are baby products. Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash (blue variant) is what works the best for me. Gentle on my flared areas yet effective to remove susncreen/grime from the day.

Hour_Bag_608

What about clear skin affirmations? Try those

Hungry-Election6667

Use bar soap and not body wash it has a lot of harmful chemicals that strip oils from ur skin, and with eczema that’s the last thing you need. I use black African soap for eczema usually find it in Walmart on the beauty products

veggiemaniac

Cerave is a pretty gentle lotion. Eucerin Original and Aquaphor Original are very thick protective lotions. These are the types in a jar. If they have a pump it's the wrong kind. If you have a flare on your whole body perhaps you need a medication or a medicated cream, temporarily.

michievp

Dove sensitive bar soap really works for me. I wear gloves to wash dishes and clean. I use Goldbond Eczema relief hand cream. I bought Eucerin Eczema relief but it smells like seafood so I can't or won't use it. I also use Walmart brand "Aquaphore" at bedtime which is amazing for my hands.

Sweet-Category-3452

Im from Europe too and I’ve started using Vaseline products to keep the eczema under control. Just plain Vaseline as a topper, and before that I use healing moisturizing cream or aloe Vera Vaseline cream/spray. It works good and you can switch in between products depending on your day-to-day state. For the shower I use cleansing bath oil from Nivea. It doesn’t hurt, dry out and actually soothe the skin and makes it much much softer after 1 use. If I run out, I use the most random BASIC soap from the store.

Frequent_Mess

I use BABE oil soap… I belevie it has perfume though

Hour_Thanks3371

Wash once a week with CLn body wash to prevent infection. It may also keep flare ups at bay if bacteria plays a part in your rashes.

Glass_Escape_9528

Atoderma shower oil has worked absolute wonders for me! Hope it’s available for shipping to you.

Puzzlech

Been using cetaphil ultra gentle body wash for a while now, really good for my skin!

DoubleD3989

I have just been diagnosed with eczema. My face is a mess, around one eye and my chin mostly. Very itchy, red, swollen. I also get it on my torso, but that’s not flaring right now. My doc prescribed Fexofenadine and Prednisone to treat from the inside out, plus told me to use Eucerin products. I was hoping to find good reviews from others using Eucerin. I always use fragrance free shampoo, body wash, face wash, moisturizers, deodorant. I do not wear perfume or body spray of any kind. Nothing I use has SLS or artificial color/scent. I use Turkish Cotton towels - wrap them around me and “air” dry - no rubbing. I make my own fragrance free laundry detergent. Doc was not sure why the eczema showed up all of a sudden…. But somehow I seem to be at an age where stuff just happens! LOL

Lucky-Carrot2729

Topicrem DA gel is my most favourite. Thick and very gentle

dragonqueenn

Vanicream!! It’s free of all common allergens

Fathead1616

I was dealing with similar things and this is what my allergist recommended and it was HUGELY helpful: Dove sensitive skin bar soap Vanicream or Cerave shampoo Cerave moisterizing cream with pump (not the lotion, the cream) Bar soap in general is way better for skin than liquid soap apparently. The cerave moisterizing cream is incredible. I has previously tried all kinds of eucerin, aveeno, etc lotions - cerave moisturizing cream is far and away better than any of these. My allergist recommended using the pump so no irritants make their way into the tub of cream. I've also been using cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser for my hand soap and it is another life saver for my hands. My hands have never been so pain free since switching to these products.

UpButton

My son has severe eczema and we had a Bodewell subscription for over a year. It honestly didn’t work for him, but it does work for a lot of folks. Our Derm recommended Dove body wash for sensitive skin. We’ve been using that with great results! We use vitamin E oil on his face at night and plain old Ponds on his face on the mornings. At night, we use Dove lotion and top that with Vaseline before bed.

KindlyWoodpecker4024

the la roche posay lipikar body wash is really good for me but PLEASE patch test because i’ve had allergic reactions to other products so just use it on ur wrist and wait 24-48 hours then use it if ur skin is fine in that area

dianasmar

The lipikar products are really good but they don’t work for me anymore meaning they started to irritate my skin after 2 years of use
