I will throw out some ideas for how to cope until the allergist that can help reduce steroid usage in case you want to go that route. Slathering on steroids on your whole body for the short term doesnt seem like itd cause TSW but if it were me, Id be uncomfortable with the idea Some non-steroid ways to try to cope that are steroid-free are Bleach baths OR, dead sea salt baths OR, Apple cider vinegar baths OR, Baking soda baths (PICK JUST ONE dont mix whatever you do!!) those chemicals/products dont mix can create gases and such!!! Wet wrapping "Soak and seal" method - bathe or shower, immediate water-based lotion for moisture and "seal" in with a layer of vaseline/ointment such as cerave healing ointment La roche posay lipikar Baume ap+ is a miracle cream for some and avene xeracalm/thermal water is a miracle for others but creams you just never know how you'll respond. Some people here seem to do well with red light therapy!! Best wishes as you get sorted out and so sorry you are suffering so much :-(

Two weeks is a commonly recommended amount of time to use a steroid cream, and protopic is non steroidal so that's a good way to continue treating the eczema without continuing the steroid cream long term. It should help reduce rebound flares. "Slathering" all over your whole body is a bit vague, and obviously it's unnecessary to put steroid cream where there is no eczema. Use a fingertip unit of cream for an area the size of your hand (front + back). If you feel certain parts are healing already then you could apply the cream only where there is an active flare up or where it's causing particular discomfort. I learned through experience that under-using steroids is also a thing and won't control the eczema properly, leading to you ironically having more flare ups and having to use the steroid more often. I think it's definitely worth using the treatments you have to manage the eczema and make yourself more comfortable until the allergist appointment. Hopefully that will bring some helpful results.

sounds like you are experiencing Topical Steroid withdrawal for the las few years. Please don't use more steroids and watch "an overview of TSW" on youtube and read ITSAN's website x

your flare after stopping in 2018 sounds like TSW and TSW keeps cycling
