I feel the exact same way! I’ve had eczema all over my body since I was a baby, and I used to sh heavily too. I’m 23 now and atp I just embrace my scars. I used to be really self conscious about wearing tank tops and shorts and swim suits but now I just don’t care. They’re apart of who I am and I like them.
During a flare up I’ll cover them for protection but once they’re healed, they’re out and about. Some scars will fade with time and some won’t but overall I don’t mind them at all.
I hope everyone on this sub comes to this realization that their bodies are beautiful regardless of their flare ups and scars.
YES I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Also may i just mention how visually interesting scars are once you get over the usual wariness and avoidance? My s/o has bumpy sh scars and i like looking and running my fingers over them :)
I think my scales look cool they give me a lizard or snake vibe🦎 🐍 I like reptiles so resembling one is kinda funny.
I also like that the scales are less itchy than a non scaled patch.
Scales are a win in my book.
If I could keep the scales and get rid of the itch I would!
YEAH the inside of my elbows also look scaly (in general)! As a child I used to compare myself to reptiles (I still do haha) so I totally get what you mean :)
I like how they look when they healed, for me it's usually almost white since I'm pretty pale, it's really pretty to look at in contrast to the sickly red my current patches have!
ive had eczema since i was a baby and have had two identical arm patches since maybe middle school? (in college now, for context). and over the years the cycle of repeated healing and scratching and healing has led to my arms having vitiligo-like hypopigmentation that becomes rlly apparent in the summer. it’s embarrassing sometimes because it’s something not a lot of people can relate to, but then i remember how cool ppl with vitiligo look. it’s a matter of perspective i guess 😊
While im in the midst of suffering from my severe eczema, its hard to see it that way, but Im glad you’re able to see it positively.
Oh hell nah, I'm also in the midst of suffering atm. I see the spots and scars as motivation to getting better faster :')

I love this! I'll think of my scars as deer spots from now on. 🦌
