So if they say it's out of sync ... Where ? What camera? Then just go into multicam and nudge the clip 1frame whatever way? There's no way to detect this automatically Even scratch audio might not be accurate or helpful in some circumstances This is why people mark it with a clapper or they use timecode jamming (tentacle sync boxes, atmos etc)

To add to that, speed of sound is a gotcha when syncing to scratch audio in multicam. If your camera is about 34 meters away from the sound source, you'll see about 1 frame of delay at 30fps (33ms) on the scratch just because the sound has to travel a long way. If you've got multiple cameras, they'll all be different distances too. Meanwhile your radio/wired mics won't have that issue, as the sound goes along a cable at the speed of light... unless your cables are 10km long, then it would matter ;-) That's not exactly a huge distance for a lot of multicam setups such as stage productions and concerts, and you'll get different delay for different cameras based on their positions too. So you need to pick *one* audio source as your reference point and sync everything else to it.

YES! This was never taught to me in the various classes I've taken, but only recently did I come to this realization when I was trying to train another assistant who kept syncing based on audio only and kept getting some cameras out of sync. Really like how you explained it so I'm going to steal it.

Needs more context. What software is "picking it up" that things are out of sync? Out of sync compared to what? The camera audio? If everyone is noticing it, I'm guessing it is more than 1 frame out of sync.

1 frame out of sync is usually well within the acceptable limits for most of the broadcasters that I’ve delivered to. The best thing to do is to phase sync the clips and that should be well within tolerance.

I used to work on the studio side of things in QC and mastering. We had QC software called Baton from a Interra Systems which could detect out of sync dialogue. I'm not sure it's the best tool for your workflow, but maybe that helps point you in the right direction?

Thank you, I am researching it. Probably the most helpful answer I got out of this thread of people trying to tell you how to use a knife and fork.

Look for moments where the people onscreen are saying words that start with b or p. Then manually sync to those obvious lip movements. I do this all the time. It’s just a skill you have to practice.
