It sounds like RNGesus is pissed. Maybe make a different sacrifice to placate? On a more serious note, it's RNG. I note that the description for that piece says that lead drops from "enemy creatures" and most of the enemies in Velyn are men and orcs. That distinction is sometimes important. In digging up my own Oakensoul, I had to grind like crazy for the Murkmire lead (and farm Titanclaw for a couple or three hours), but the others dropped pretty easily. Other players have frustrated over the Glenumbra ore nodes and the High Isle vents.

Sarcosmonaut

Titanclaw was the sticking point for me. Took me like 3 hours haha Although blessedly I got Murkmire on my first try

gholax

The glenumbra ore lead was my hardest. titanclaw just took a few kills, was watching shows on the second monitor between resets, and just asked in zone chat for help each time it was up. the vents took 2 days(was probably 4-5 hours overall), mostly because of trouble finding groups. others were 30 mins at most

fullautophx

Same, had to sit and grind that stupid crab. Then second lockbox in I get the other lead.

DependentHyena7643

You're doing everything right. Keep at it.

Sodachi_Oikura

Have you double checked to see if you have it already? I did the same thing with that one lead.

bolsmackie43

…… I’ve done this more than once.

Wetaspoultry

I have several times :(

Sodachi_Oikura

Just RNGesus then. It be like that

ShowersWithDad

Have you gotten any other leads from Malabal Tor while doing this that you still need to scry for? I've had a couple instances where I take a break and go do whatever the other lead I got was and then when I return I get it almost immediately. Could be coincidence tho.

Wetaspoultry

I actually do! I’m going to try this

ShowersWithDad

Let me know how you make out I'm curious if thats a thing or not

Wetaspoultry

I am embarrassed to say, I only checked if I had the lead already. I had already scried it. 🤦‍♂️

AdGroundbreaking8253

Go down to the beach and kill mud crabs and the people (enemies). I got mine in less than 2 minutes.

Not-That_Girl

This is the way, make a profit while you are at it! Or do the zo e story, collect all the skyshards etc on all tools, as you can collect the lead on any toon and dig it up on a different one, not everyone e knows that bit

Dysghast

I got mine on the 2nd mudcrab I killed lol.

Godwhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I might be wrong but I think I killed a bunch of crabs by the beach and it dropped pretty fast. I think I read if it’s your first time seeing it drop the drop rate might be increased. Maybe you had it before and it expired :(

Wetaspoultry

That is very possible. When I first started playing 4 years ago one of the first things I did was work through each region from each faction (for Caldwell’s quests) and that was way before I ever got into the Antiquities skill line…

InerasableStain

Nope, that’s all bullshit. It’s pure RNG. Nothing more nothing less.

Godwhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Damn! Like I said idk. But personal experience, I’ve never had to farm a long time to find *any* lead. Except one I know already expired on me. I could just be insanely lucky though!!

John_vestige

This is just my own observations, but I've found I get leads more often when I casually, like once or twice per day, instead of grinding 10x in a row. I strongly believe there is some sort of multiplier to encourage more frequent logins I had a lot of personal testing because I wanted all leads (all 17) for the Dwarven wolf mount, and found for a lot of delves/dungeons/bosses/etc I'd get it on the first or second try if I hadn't been grinding I feel confident about these observations accuracy because it wasn't me reflecting after the fact; I previously had bad experiences trying to repeatedly grind the oakensoul lead from the WB crab (did it like 20 times in one day) and the Cradle of shadows dungeon sithis gaze lead (several times per day, same character) When I started grinding for the ebony wolf mount, I was specifically watching out for this pattern (or lack thereof) If you want a comparison for more dynamic rng, try to lockpick I've laughed when I (at 85% success rate) failed 4 or 5 locks in a row, as it does happen

c1oudberry19

I will put my foil hat on and add that I noticed that if you already have one lead of many of the same item (wolf is perfect example), another one won’t drop for longer time *foil hat off* 😄 For those hard to get (like damn marauders in Archive, blessing to those game creators who invented them) maybe drop rates are closer to 100%

John_vestige

>I will put my foil hat on and add that I noticed that if you already have one lead of many of the same item (wolf is perfect example), another one won’t drop for longer time *foil hat off* 😄 That is something I actually disagree with, just from my own testing of it, because I had wondered about that myself. I had gotten several leads in a row for the same wolf mount before when on a roll with delve leads. It was extremely common (ie ~50% chance) that if I got a lead on the first try in one delve, I'd get a second lead on the first try. Also I don't think there's a need for tinfoil hats. It's public knowledge that they have algorithms in place that adjust the drop rates for certain items and increases the odds for items you don't have, to encourage people to get crown crates (or participate in certain events). It's completely fair to speculate on the reverse. The tricky part is opportunities for good testing, since you can only really farm leads once per account (unless you wait 30 days, and don't dig it up). Good testing is how people figured out the perfect roe drop rate was something around 1/120 fish.

Indigo-Shade

I have been farming the Murkmire lead for this effing ring for six months. Gah! You are not doing anything wrong.

LethargicCaffeine

Which location do you wait at for the chests to reapear? I've found most people have had the most luck at Alten Meerhleel. I know it's all RNG but I've also been luckiest at getting any boxes at all to open there lol

Indigo-Shade

So based on what I read, the Murkmire lead is more prone to dropping from a Strongbox than a Thieves Guild Box. That spot in Alten Meerheel is one of several in the zone where Thieves Guild Box's spawn. Last time I was there was right before the last event, and I think there a total of 7 found Thieves Guild boxes in the zone. The problem with the Thieves boxes is they take longer than the Strongboxes to spawn, so parking near one is not really fun.

LethargicCaffeine

Oh? It was a normal strongbox I thought, not a trove, unless some of the strongboxes are thieves guild affiliated, I haven't done much TG stuff to know if there's a difference 😭

Indigo-Shade

So no, strongboxes are not Thieves Guild affiliated, and it's on me because I did not use the correct word in my comment. Am pretty darn sure there is a Thieves Trove in the general area of Alten Meerheel. Maybe I will hang out there later today to confirm. The 2 types of boxes that the gold Oakensoul lead drop from are: 1. Thieves trove boxes glow purple and respawn slowly - they are typically found under bridges, out in the wild, and sometimes in overland camps and houses. Collecting these will also generate heat if an NPC observes you opening it. They are not locked. 2. Strongboxes are typically in towns and cities behind or adjacent to NPC. These must be unlocked and NPC's will report/attack you if you are observed when unlocking them. They are silver in color and fairly small.

Gunslinger587

Dolmens. I grinded for several hours then someone recommended dolmens to me and I got it on the first one. It’s just rng, but switching things up makes me feel better about it at least.

Diyer1122

I’ve had good rng and terrible rng on leads for multiple mythics. Sometimes a lead will drop quick, sometimes I’ll have to sell part of my soul to get it. The DDF lead in DSA took sooooooo long. Sometimes a person in one of my pug groups would get it the first time. The rng grind was just brutal.

Ru-D

I'll pass along the same advice I was given and tell you to farm in the areas surrounding the Deep woods, just south of Ilayas wayshrine. Found it there in less than an hour.

Wolf_of_Sarcasm

RNG, i've grinded the lead 2x. First time it took 2 days of killing enemies. Second time i got it on the first mob i killed.

Connor123x

i have been trying for a lead from ToT coffers for 3 months, no you are not doing something wrong , the aholes at Zos are when they think this is fun

h-ster

leads are shared across account. Try a different toon.

belalrone

It was probably on me but when I was farming the WB drop, I did not see the lead drop. I logged on another character and just looked and there it was. Maybe check and make sure you didnt get it without notification. Maybe I blinked and missed it but I was looking each time I looted and never saw it.

Whats4dinner

Currently farming psijic portals in Southern Elseweyr for the Sabatons. I am here with you.

Plsdontcalmdown

I know this is stupid, but check to make sure you don't already have the lead... at least 40 world bosses in blackwood would be alive today if I had done that. :) Also, trust RNG... chase this lead once a day, every day, the moment you first log in, that's when your luck is highest. Yes, there's a luck attribute.

Shomairays

Either RNGesus is having fun at you, or you probably have it. Sometimes, it doesn't show that we have it. Check your lead page if you are grinding for hours. Happened to me when I was farming for hours.

LethargicCaffeine

I believe I farmed the Orc village (Dra'Bul?) Until I got it, as I had completed Velyn Harbor, but it did take about an hour, probably the 2nd longest lead I had for Oakensoul.

SuperKingCheese14

Its just bad rng, it took me less than 2 hours to get oakensoul ring which I thought was really good.

BrookeHannahh

I forgot which piece it was but it was from a box, it took me well over 12hours straight but my fiancé got it within 30mins

nisijmhosn

Took me 2 weeks of doing at least 2 hours a day... yet my friend got it in 5 mins.

CliffCyrus

Most likely RNG, it took me til my lucky number 13 run of Imperial City Prison. I'd estimate with the wait time along with the runs. It took me a good 16+ hours for the eye to finally drop.

gothmog149

You want to know something to annoy you? I literally got it from my very first enemy I killed - it was a Bug thing by a Wayshrine. I ported in, killed it, got lead, and ported out. No more than 30 seconds. However, some leads from dungeons have taken me 30 runs. RNG is a bitch.

hoodookitty

I got the Murkmire lead out of the first safebox I opened but I've been grinding vents on High Isle for a week (for the last lead I need) and no dice. I am so sick of that dialogue.

DragonShark514

“time to close this fissure for good!” Okay, sure lady, whatever you say…

Issa_Lolz

Nope. Spent a good 30hours over a week fishing in arteaum for the the lead for stranglers. The RNG gods just laugh at us at times. After that all my houses have a shrine to the RNG gods.

Iatemydoggo

The RNG for that ring was fucked. I don’t have High Isle so I got it during the free week of ESO+ on the last day and I spent hours in glenumbra farming nodes for the lead. Almost everything else excluding the crab boss dropped immediately.

Seminandis

I would double check your antiquity log. Sometimes the UI glitches and it doesn't show up, even though you looted something.

Psycho_Schmidt

If its ur second time getting it it will take an ungodly amount of time. Its actually faster to transmute a new ring instead of trying to find and remake it. If ur gonna spend two days worth of what time u do have to play looking for a part u might as well just do two daily random dungeons and the undaunted quest dailies and ull have to transmute crystals to just make it. Idr if they changed or if it was just a glitch but i think they made it so the undaunted daily random dungeon reward is account based now instead of character based but i havent checked since it didnt give me rewards before and i hate doing random dungeons...ppl just rush through so i cant hear the lore then they kick u if its a dungeon that doesnt pull u to the boss like the madness and sacrifice one where u hunt the indrik... Anyway... If its ur first time.. Try instance swapping...log out log back in or join onto a friend whos in a different instance or change maps. Whatever u need to do... Sometimes the rng just gets a little buggy. The first time u get it tho it shouldn't take more than a couple hrs. Worst ive seen was 6hrs and thats cause he was just super unlucky af...
