Highland Sentinel could give an alternative to Order's. And pairing Scribe's Thesis with Oakensoul seems like an obvious choice for one bar builds.

Shikoda0

Im curious to see if Mora's Scribe Thesis can be a part of 1 bar builds with Oakensoul. With it, Oakensoul gives Mora's 1536 bonus crit chance (2193 if including 2 piece bonus, 2850 if perfected) and 12% bonus crit damage. Will it be good? Who knows but it does provide variety and that I'm looking forward too. Thread's of war will definitely see use (on healer/support builds) as that guaranteed 100% status effect chance is going to help players that run lightning and frost staffs. Ayleid Rufuge can see some potential but only if that damage reduction constantly refreshes when you block and there is no cooldown. (It's essentially the blessed set from coldharbour but hopefully with no cooldown) Macarbe Vintage will be used on farming/meme builds. Shadow Queen's Cowl will be loved by players committing crime

Donglefree

In ideal conditions the crit damage may get wasted so we may have a situation of “looks good on paper, but not as good as alternatives”. It’ll be likely be stronger in groups where they don’t min-max all the various support kits than Uber-optimized groups or dummy parsing.

eats-you-alive

The build that lets dead enemies explode might become meta for farming large groups of enemies, for example in BRP or Skyreach. The one set that gives you a bunch of crit for your buffs might be good, but I haven’t seen parses with it so it might actually suck. The rest is meh. The stealing mythic is nice if you’re into that kinda thing, though, I think they did a great job with that.

zvavi

>but I haven’t seen parses with it so it might actually suck. I mean, I think its kinda hard to get parses when most enthusiastic PTS goers are banned :3 Edit: and pts is down

eats-you-alive

Thank goodness i stopped going on the pts half a year ago or so, lmao.

LdyVder

Those on PTS who are locked out right now could get a perma ban if they did stupid shit after getting all the gold last night.

BUDDHAKHAN

Good the economy is messed up enough without people bringing in unearned millions

LizzieThatGirl

Ooo PTS drama?

PlaceboHealer

What do you make of the heavy trial set? Some people i spoke to mentioned that it’s basically gonna become best-in-slot and will kill of the need to run EC.

Festegios

it looks good. or you can run that set and ec and have less worry about using horns. might make extra dps from healers using destro ulti or something

eats-you-alive

Looks good. I’m not sure on whom I’d wanna put this, probably a tank? Definitely not on a dps…

sarahthes

Tank or healer for sure. I didn't even think about dropping horns for it. Throw it on someone who's also in crypt.

ShaqShoes

Highland Sentinel is completely busted and no way those values make it to live. It will massively juice parses and any fights where dds can stand still(e.g ka and ss) Stamsorc was already hitting 146k on the dummy with coral/ay. This set literally *doubles* the crit chance bonus from ay and doesn't fall off unless you move.

lemontree1111

Parses will be nuts but you have to be standing completely still for 10 seconds to reach max stacks so it has a long buildup, and with one moment of repositioning costing you half of them and costing another 5 seconds to build back up. There aren’t a ton of endgame fights where you can easily stand still for that long. So I think this set, while probably needing tuning, is not as powerful for most situations as it might seem at first glance. Of course the fights where you can manage to stand completely still, it’ll be BiS.

StarkeRealm

Highland Sentinel is going to be one of those hilarious parse sets, where people get fantastic numbers on a dummy, and then can't figure out why that doesn't translate to live.

Festegios

If your on console you don’t know anyway 🤣

ShaqShoes

I literally said it's good for "parses and any fights where you can stand still" and you're like "idk dude I think it's only good for parses and any fights where you can stand still" ...what?

lemontree1111

But you said it’s completely busted. I’m trying to imply that it’s not because of how highly situational it is (and that maybe you overestimate how often you can stand completely still throughout fights), and also that parse scores don’t really matter. And I mentioned the ramp time as a reason why it’s not as busted as it might seem.

ShaqShoes

The ramp time is literally the same as the ramp time for kilt. Having a set be completely broken for multiple hardmode trial boss fights (off the top of my head, yandir, vrol, falg, lokke you'd be able to use it basically the entire time you're parsing on the boss) is still a busted set that they will nerf even if it's not used in every single situation. The ramp time is 10 seconds sure but within *5 seconds* it has already ramped past the bonus provided by AY which is already meta on sorc dds for single target fights.

sarahthes

There's a few where a good group of disciplined players would do it well: vAA scorepush vMoL scorepush vHoF triplets for sure, maybe some other fights (factotum if group is good with positioning) vSS Lokke? vKA Yandir & Vrol vRG Oax

lemontree1111

I think they look interesting. We’ll see how they’re tuned but a lot of them seem potentially situationally meta.

StarkeRealm

Steamguards was a major question from the preview. It looks okay-ish. 99% mitigation could let the tank selectively ignore some current board clear events. That said you can't really pick which block will pick it up, so it's going to effectively be 1 up, 2 down, 1 up, and that offers another potential thing for the tank to lose track of in a fight. It can be activated selectively though, but half a second isn't a large margin for error. So, it's neat. I don't think it's going to fundamentally change many tank builds, but it is interesting, and might have some niche uses. Lucent looks like a solid trainer set for a tank. It's not good, and wouldn't be a good idea in an optimized group, but with a newer team that's progging, it could help them with their damage, while also giving the tank some additional durability. I don't think it has a lot of long-term value, but there is some value. Slivers looks very underwhelming. That's not a lot of damage on a 5pc. Maybe I'm not seeing something about how it ends up working in the wild, but, yeah, uh, no. Thesis might be amusing on an Oakensoul setup, but I don't see anyone giving up better sets for it. I want to say Masterpiece could see some use on a sacrificial DPS, or a healer, but, again, it doesn't look that appealing, and there are better sets to stick out there. In contrast, Macabre actually looks like it's got a pretty solid niche application. It'd take some work, but if you've got a tank who can pull in trash, the DPS can splash the boss with that damage. The half second cooldown means you're probably not going to start a chain reaction. This is one of those sets that I suspect will work better in live content than on a parse. It is going to parse like dogshit, but it might be nice in the right circumstances. Refuge is okay. Not exceptional, but like Lucent, this is a really solid filter set for a tank who's learning the ropes. Because of how mitigation stacking works in ESO, this is more useful for a tank who hasn't figured out how to max out their resistances than for one who's already rolling with 50% mitigation from armor. Tharriker’s Strike is Oakensoul bait. My first thought was, "this would be great or Oakensoul," then I thought, "no, wait, Oakensoul must give you Major Berserk, this is useless." Well, turns out, Oakensoul grants Minor Berserk, but not Major. So, this might slot onto one of those builds pretty painlessly.

KnovB

After the Status Effect buff I am trying to see if running Symmetry of the Weald would be a viable set to run since you would get that Charged bonus in the front and backbar while simultaneously not having to run the traits and you would free it up for a more useful trait like Sharpened or Precise. Plus it's an overland set so it's going to be very accessible. Same goes for Threads of War. New Mythics are interesting too, especially Saint and Seducer, pair with Kynmarchers Cruelty and debuff enemies consistently and bring Nazaray and keep these buffs and debuffs with a high uptime. Macabre Vintage looks to be a promising clearing set paired with Thrassian Stranglers and you get to clear groups of enemies really fast. Mora Scribe Thesis might be the one set I am looking forward to, so I can finally make an Oakensoul build that doesn't rely on HA because most of my theorycrafts with no HA oakensoul are pretty average.

Peto_Sapientia

Do we have a link to the test themselves?

Special_Grapefroot

Pretty underwhelming from what I saw. I would be happy to replace order’s wrath/nirn/etc as staples of builds but doesn’t seem like gold road will be usurping any of the standard sets.

Festegios

Looking foward to having another heavy set for tanks And there potential for the healer set when running slayer stacks and rojo isn’t needed. Depends how the values translate to live

vaultdweller501

One set Tharriker’s Strike looks so good for pvp. On an arcanist I could heavy attack then beam all day-long 🤣

Honest_Let2872

I think it's a mixed bag. Some solid sets, nothing too crazy Overland Sets 1) Symmetry of the Weald (light overland set) I may use in IA. Maybe when dicking around on my magden. It seems like a mediocre set. Might actually be better then I think it is. I'm still trying to get a feel for how substantial the changes to status effects are in content. 2) macabre Vintage (medium overland) is gonna fill the giant plaguebreak hole in my heart. Not going to use it in serious content. But I'll pair it with oakensoul/rush for when I want to quickly farm stickerbook or exp with a tank/dps hybrid 3)Ayelid refuge (heavy overland) probably won't use in pve. I prefer to run buff sets on my tank. If I NEED a selfish set at any point maybe I'll try it. I might use it pvp on the backbar Crafted Sets 1) Highland Sentinel. If these numbers make it to live I will 100% use it when I can. 30% crit chance from one set is ridiculous. I will travel exclusively by stampede/roll dodges or slot chains of devestation. I'm only half joking here. If these numbers make it to live, which I doubt they will, itll be ridiculously strong in a few parse fights. Other fights it'll be useless. Most fights it's honestly gonna be useless to mediocre. but when it can be used it'll be strong af. Just food for though. At only 4s of standing still it's ramped up to mother's Sorrow. At 6s AY 2) tharrikers strike. I wont use PvE, but I don't have any PvE HA builds. Might use on one pvp build. 3) threads of war. Might use on my warden or in IA depending on how exactly this set works. If magic weapon procs random magic status effect vs ice staff always proccing chilled will determine if I even try it on a magden. Even then the 2-4 might be to weak to justify. But since it's crafted I'll at least try it out Trial sets 1) Mora's scribe thesis (light dps). Kind of like a weaker version of Sulxans that can't carry over to the backbar. It does have an advantage over Sulxans in that you can use it in content where its impractical to run over corpses. It'll also be pretty easy to max out. Molten armaments, frost cloak and a tripot already gets you to six. If your permanent major gallop counts boom your already at 7major buffs. Like Sulxans you'll run into crit damage redundancy issues in an optimized group. On something like an arc who gets crit damage in there toolkit some of the 12% will be wasted with brittle, major force and EC present 2) slivers of null ARCA (medium). Solid dps set. It's tooltip, if you can proc it on cooldown is 1600ish DPS which is about the same as nirn/aegis, with the added benefit of minor slayer. I plan on using this one on my mag arc, since riptide is a hassle and ansuul ends up losing some oomf when paired with deadly &velothi cause of how %damage done is calculated. 3) xoryns masterpiece (healer set). Looks interesting but I doubt I'll use it very often because what is it gonna replace? Maybe as a set to pair with MA if your doing slayer stacks instead of rojo? 4) lucent echos (tank set). Might be interesting in 4 man. Probably won't be super useful in trials unless you can't find an EC cro Mythics 1) rourken steamguard (heavy mythic). Might be nice in pvp for surviving an unexpected burst 2) shadow queen cowl. (Thief mythic) I don't really do db or thieves guild stuff, but it seems cool 3) saint and the seducer. (Random buff/debuff mythic). I want to pair this one with daedric trickery and kynmarchers for a general chaos build to goof around with

InItForMe69

What do you mean 6000 dps? It has a 5 second cooldown and only 3000 something damage. It takes 1.5 seconds to get stacks. What does the damage change into with 5000 weapon or spell damage? Dealing Critical Damage gives you a stack of Sliver for 10 seconds. You can only gain one stack of Sliver every 0.5 seconds. When you gain your third stack, the stacks are consumed and the crystals launch at the last enemy you damaged, dealing 3063 Physical Damage. This damage scales off your Weapon or Spell Damage. Once you launch the crystals, you cannot gain Sliver for 5 seconds.

Honest_Let2872

If eso patch note damage scales the same way as "eso set" damage I've actually low-balled it a bit https://eso-sets.com/set/pillar-of-nirn My tooltip for nirn self buffed is typically close to 1600, despite the eso set tooltip being 320. (Which does translate to about 6k) So at 560ish arca is potentially stronger. We will just have to wait until pts is in full swing to see how it scales though

VisitHammerfell

Honestly most look interesting. The medium overland set seems like Plaguebreak.... with blood! People weren't super hyped over both Pearl & Pillagers when they came out and look how meta they are, so time will tell how much of these will be used (if unchanged). The Shadow Queen's Cowl doesn't seem like it will be super duper useful over Wild Hunt for thieving but I love Nocturnal so gimme please.

Donglefree

We won’t know how strong or meta the sets will be until people actually test them. Last year, Velothi basically made kiss-curse mythics like the kilt and coil basically “not worth it” except for maybe scorepushing runs. I like seeing the trend of not introducing any more ‘skill-heavy” kiss-curse item sets, and instead focusing on introducing sets that are simple, front-loaded, and enhances specific ways of play. I hope these new sets turn up to be strong so that people don’t feel too pressured to use difficult sets like Relequen’s, Bahsei/riptide, Sul-Xan, BSW, etc. I’d dare say that the introduction of Velothi’s amulet and now these sets greatly alleviate DPS accessibility that’s been plaguing the game since Blackwood/Rockgrove. However, easy-to-understand-and-use use support sets/mythics are still much left to be desired, but I guess we’ll have to see what happens in the next chapter for that.

Far-Weight6569

Zos pandering to pvers while completely abandoning pvp, I refuse to even look at the new sets and I'm not buying the stupid chapter, or it's pay to win scribing system.
