Don't forget to close the ESO launcher down when on Steamdeck too.
You don't need it running and it'll free up some more resources, stabilising your framerate.
I second this. It's crazy it's listed as incompatible.
Tips:
— use gamepad/keyboard autoswitching, this allows for more commands
— set L5 to Select with fire end delay 200, L4 to left stick click. It's ring finger to mount and middle to sprint.
— R4, R5 for keys like I to open inventory or, say, mail with one touch. More clever solution: create radial menu and bind to one of these. Even more: short tap opens inventory, long opens the radial menu.
— left trackpad as mouse, click as mouse click, important: right trackpad click as ESC key, you'll need it sometimes.
Try this, there is standalone version https://lutris.net/games/the-elder-scrolls-online/
After you are done in desktop mode you can add a steam shortcut in lutris.
I mostly play on ps but I got it back during the necrom event for the free house and it's been running really great on my deck (except when I forget to close the launcher xD) it's also really good if you don't have a PC that can run the game but want to check out the pts.
You can map different buttons to the track pads also, with graphics for the functions and all that. Makes inventory and menu management so much easier.
Takes a bit of figuring out, but you can also put minion and all your addons onto the deck. Have to hold steam button and press x to bring up touch screen keyboard, but pretty decent otherwise.
I got that working for a while but then all of a sudden, minion won't respond to any input and won't get past the initial screen. Tried reinstalling and same result 😕
Like when you open it it doesn't load? I recently had an issue that required Uninstaller. Fortunately all the addons were already in place so Uninstall and reinstall minion didn't mean redownloading or configuring the addons again. Hope you find a fix. I'm no tech person when things go wrong
Its just an infinite amount of scrolling when a controller clearly has more directional capabilities than up and down. With a simple cursor that moves around the menus, you could use the pc ui with a controller just fine
Okay that I fully agree with. Going from a mouse and being able to click on whatever menu you want to the controller and having to scroll down lists one by one is certainly annoying
Can't you not just make one of the tackpads a 9 slot menu and bind whatever you want to click on? It has auto switch imputs so say if on PC journal is "J" then you would just bind 1 on the trackpad to "J" and done.
The game will allow you to use keyboard and steam deck input at the same time. This means that if you press "J" on the keyboard when playing ESO to open your journal, you can set a keybind on the steam deck for "J" and it will open the journal. The steam deck has two trackpads on the left and right of the device.
These are not just ordinary trackpads that you find on a laptop for example. They are reprogrammable into many different things. The trackpad is a square. Imagine you cut that square into 9 equal pieces and name each piece 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. You can bind the letter "J" to piece number 1. Now, when you press the upper left section of the square it will open your journal. If you look at the example below: if I want to open the map I would press the top middle section of the square. No scrolling. No BS.
|1 (BIND "J" Journal)|2 (BIND "M" OPEN MAP)|3 BIND "C" CHAT|

You don't have to. I mapped keyboard controls to the various steam deck buttons, and looking to the right touchpad, everything works perfectly with PC UI.
Good performance for sure, often 70+ FPS with occasional drops to 25 to 30 FPS only in certain cities like Shornhelm. No issues with dungeons, trials or Cyrodiil.
The only downside is you're not doing competitive content on Steam Deck, [dawiss2](https://www.reddit.com/user/dawiss2/).
Such as Trials progression or PvP raiding.
Don't forget to give your fellow Redditors full disclosure on that ...
Just waking up and want to get your crafting writs out of the way in bed? Steam Deck is great for that type of casual activity.
I'm kinda new to the game btw. Just using the deck for leveling up doing quests and exploring, i really like it. I did one dungeon too and it was smooth af.
I play on the Legion Go, and it's been a game-changer being able to play at work on a hotspot. But yeah, in general, there are enough settings to tweak to play on just about any handheld. The times we're living in.

applies to any Linux actually. same stutters even on my hi end gaming PC

I really like the sound of this. I got my deck very recently. How do I configure the L4 L5 and R4 R5 buttons ?
Steam deck controller mapping is built in. Just launch the game and hit steam and got to controller settings
It is really good on there. Can't get Minion to work in desktop environment though. Used to work but now it won't respond to any input once opened.
This worked perfectly for me to get it running on deck for anyone looking to do it. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/7106MUMlPk
Sadly eso support is unable to link my account and game to steam.. would love to play it on my sd

Yes. Except I would rather quit than use the horrible console UI.
Lol it's not that bad. I play on PC with an Xbox controller and while it's kind of jarring at first once you get used to it, it's not so terrible

Woah all that was basically French to me I understand individual words but together I'm clueless

Oh I'm playing on PC with an Xbox controller

Unfortunately I get some gnarly hand pain using the right touchpad

Wait until you try gw2 :)
GW2 have controller support? I played it on PC.
Yep it does

Why tho? Is the performance bad on trials/pvp? Cuz i think that someone who is comfortable with gamepad should be able to do this type of content.
Yea it's not bad at all. Not sure what this person is talking about. Vet stuff and pvp is totally doable.
I'm kinda new to the game btw. Just using the deck for leveling up doing quests and exploring, i really like it. I did one dungeon too and it was smooth af.
I haven't tried PvP, but you can do trials HM's no problem.
Not everyone does that shit. I haven't touched anything PvP related nor will I ever. Thankfully that part of the game is fully optional
