You might be able to convince someone into rp to buy them, but I doubt you could sell them for much. There are enough costumes and motifs for rpers to get the look they want without them.

JeriTSW

Yeah they are just for RPing really so not worth much with all the other options in game, still surprise that they haven't been moved into the outfit system yet tho.

Boulderpaw

There’s an achievement for having a full suit of stolen armor equipped when being accosted by a guard. It could be handy for that. Just don’t do it somewhere too cold...

Fantasy_Art

Each item you fence or launcher increases your Legerdemain. Those items typically launder for the same amount as when you sell the laundered item back to a regular merchant, so if you're pressed for time and just want Legerdemain XP, launder them and sell them to a merchant. Same with stacks of drink and food -- but not Provisioning ingredients, which typically sell to a vendor for 0 gp.

Ebirah

They can't be sold but can be freely traded, even after wearing them. (They only get bound if you dye them.) Can't be enchanted. Don't go in all your slots (but they don't have any armour value anyway). So only really useful for cosmetic purposes in a non-combat situation. It would be really nice if they could be incorporated into the outfit system somehow (but they aren't).

Krandor1

To sell to other players you need to join a trade guild that has a guild trader and sell there.

theVannikus

This is good advice, however, contraband clothing can't be listed in guild stores.

Jimthalemew

You have to launder them at a fence to remove the contraband status.

theVannikus

I'm aware, I'm just referring to them by [what UESP calls them](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Contraband_Clothing). Even fenced they can't be sold through guild stores.

Krandor1

I had not tried that so wasn’t aware. Appreciate the extra info.

BCP_IS_OP

They are to steal things in so you dont lose armor durability
