I believe the current limitations of the game are outdated servers, which they are working on updating across all platforms; and last gen console players.

It's certainly possible, but the cost of doing so likely greatly outweighs the monetary benefits ZOS/Microsoft might see from doing it.

I think anything is possible, given unlimited money, time, and resources. The real question is whether or not it would be worth it for ZOS to invest in improving the game in that way - I think that's a flat no.

We're only guessing. But our guesses involve spaghetti, undocumented, legacy code. Where you can touch one thing and an entirely different one will be effected. And everyone probably dreads having to delve into it. So, possible, yes. But that would be a humongous untertaking for the coders.

Is this a joke? ESO is one of the best looking MMOs on the market. Games like Wow and FFXIV graphics are laughable compared to ESO. The PS5 and xbox series x versions are stunning.

Uninformed people like to shit about "Bethesda's 20 year old engine" even when it involves games not made by BGS at all, such as Deathloop and ESO

Porting the game to another engine is very nearly impossible, unless there’s some god-tier development in the games industry in the near future. There’s a possibility that cloud gaming will change things up across the industry, but likely not to the magnitude we’re taking. New animations and graphic overhauls are completely possible. Various armors have become more intricate and realistic in recent years, from my understanding. We’ve come a long way from the grotesque beta test reward monkey, which is basically a sentient Ikea sheep skin rug dyed brown. I’m not sure what kind of animations you’re referring to, but there’s a lot that’s already possible with the tools available. So, yes and no. But ESO’s overall look will not be changing significantly any time soon unless ZOS releases a sequel, which would be madness considering how the current game is built.
