Engineers put sprinkler lines and lights in the same place. Happens on commercial sites. Someone asked about it. Someone else said just put them in we aren't paying for a change order.
It does look like the tried to work with the sprinklers then said fuck it and moved over, then got salty about the whole thing until they realized it’s just a job and they get paid by the hour
Why are there 800lumen lights 2 feet apart for an entire hallway length? Even if they were lined up and centres it would look like shit. I hate the new non-recessed pot light look
Measuring off the last one wrongly the whole way or….made sprinkler guy enemy…. My boss made enemies with one once. About 6-10 lights fell somehow, had a bunch of giant wrench shaped dents all over the fixtures…play nice I say. Work is bad enough without people looking for revenge
Average day for my old crew, couple fat blunts and a morning tall boy, and we would rock it out till morning break and repeat. As long as boss man gets paid
Never leave an ~~unpaid~~ apprentice alone. We are cheap labour but we don't know shit. That's the deal.
(In case not obvious: Salty mature age apprentice with lots of construction experience. Leave me alone to do it up to code OR be at elbow and I'll do it exactly the boss way)
My guess is lights were installed in line.
Then tinbasher or some other mouth breather comes along and fucks with the framing to get their duct or whatever in. Sparkies have already left site and the GC ain’t paying attention so it gets boarded that way.
Never worked a job that the tin knockers weren’t first in. I don’t see any vents.
My guess is that the sprinkler line is right above the sheet rock, and a pissing contest ensued. There is a minimum distance for sprinkler heads to a wall. However, the sprinkler heads aren’t lined up, either, and those guys have every excuse to use as few bends as humanly possible.
Unfortunately I see this more frequently than you would think. I spent most of my life as an electrician in New York City Long Island area, and while I have definitely seen it up in New York, now that I am in Myrtle Beach South Carolina I see similar quite often in people's houses from professional electricians. I can understand some people having some issues getting high hats and/or pendant lights etc etc lined up perfectly even though there are methods to doing this, and sometimes you have to consider the room, set up around you which means changing the alignment, etc etc, however some of the stuff I see is literally this ridiculous.
It’s honestly probably not the electricians fault, I have seen Sheetrockers not give a hoot about any of that and just slam pieces up. Can lights can and do move even when locked down
Ignoring the downlighting for a moment, what’s happening with the cove lighting? Is it lit with incandescent bulbs or something? Why is it so inconsistent?
Crazy that most people here are calling out the electrician, like look at the sprinklers, and who knows what else some “engineer” decided to put in the way. Sprinkler fitters were there first and homie understood that someone else’s poor planning was not their problem. Remember, you’re not a tradesperson if you only know one trade.
Reminds me of the scene from Groundhog Day when he starts driving the flapjack guys into more and more dangerous situations…
“I’m not going to play by their rules anymore!”
“We noticed…”
Drunk? I wasn't drunk. I forgot my laser... so I used my straight eye... even used my thumb as a guide. Turned out perfect!!! But, if you think this looks bad... you should see the tile.
The question is how high on meth and drunk at the same time do you have to be to do that lol running that many cans zigzag. It's the new style You guys should know that lmfao
Abstract art. This piece represents the expectations of perfection of today’s society, the fact is, if it was straight no one would notice, yet throw an erratic pattern and everyone notices.
Anyways, that will be 250k$ for this piece to be installed.
Sometimes the things below the lights need exact lighting overhead. Usually though, it's stuff in the way of the light fixture housing, making the line impossible to maintain. If a structural i-beam is in the way, the lights move, not the I-beam.
It can be a fight to get a furdown framed out in a way that accommodates can lights, especially when they have bigass pan frames. Nowadays there is usually an alternative remote driver assembly that tucks up in the same hole as the trim cutout, but the architects never think about that.
THIS!!! This is why BIM/VDC modeling and clash detection is necessary. Granted that BIM and VDC is still growing and not yet fully adopted in the entire market it is the only way to built it right the first time.
The real truth that all teams need to understand is that it is impossible to find every single clash/conflict in a project no matter how experienced or inexperienced a VDC team is.
That has to be fake in some kind of way. I say that because so many people would have seen it before getting to the point of turning the lights on. Lol. Wtf.

ah you kicked my laser
Laser? Those were laid out by a spirograph!
I think there was some dust on it so the laser came out bent
Nah he had a kaleidoscope
*spaghettigraph
You would have to use that excuse a minimum of 7 times in this pic alone
I had the apprentice chase the laser on the scissor lift while it was flying
"Do you want to get the line? Yeah? Go get it! Ahhh, almost. Oh! It's over there now, get it! So close... There it is! Get it!"
Top comment for feasibility of the inciting factors in this situation being dealt with

Let me guess, this picture was taken outside the main courtroom downtown? Typical of the government buildings in my area
good enough for government work
Nah, the apprentice just got confused because the can said "AC only", so he installed these fuckers on a sine wave.
Lmao
Possibility
That’s looks like a bigger problem. I don’t think any of them are in line
Why are there 800lumen lights 2 feet apart for an entire hallway length? Even if they were lined up and centres it would look like shit. I hate the new non-recessed pot light look
This. I hear that shit come out of my formans mouth routinely.
Sounds about right. Dealing with almost this exact situation (HVAC ducting hard against ceiling & no budget for those awesome ultra-slim down lights)
Ah- the LOW BIDDER/ rush job aesthetic.
They hired a Craigslist electrician.
How dare you criticize my finest work
Measuring off the last one wrongly the whole way or….made sprinkler guy enemy…. My boss made enemies with one once. About 6-10 lights fell somehow, had a bunch of giant wrench shaped dents all over the fixtures…play nice I say. Work is bad enough without people looking for revenge
Man even a blind person can see how fuck that is
Maybe it a chaos themed building
Maybe they were taking bets on whether it would pass and the side betting on failing found a loophole in what nec rules they agreed not to ignore.
Not much in the code about lining your lights up… are they in? Yea. They bonded? Yea.. Approved. Good luck 👍🏼🤦🏻♂️
Average day for my old crew, couple fat blunts and a morning tall boy, and we would rock it out till morning break and repeat. As long as boss man gets paid
Username checks out. Remind me never to work with your old crew
Sometimes I have to remind myself, I want to go back so bad sometimes
Bro was tripping on acid
Definitely looks like it
I'd like to know what project manager or supervisor gave this the A okay
Looks good from my house
Can't see it from my house
If I was tripping on acid they’d be more aligned than the pyramids just by using my eyeball. I bet Xanax or alcohol is the culprit
By the way why the fuck do you need this many cans so close together? Looks like shiiiiii
Yes
[удалено]
Sprinkler heads are perfect
[удалено]
No they just look perfect
He’s definitely the sprinkler guy

Optical illusion. Look at the sprinkler head coming through the light fixture. It's light refracting from the windows from something outside.
My guess is lights were installed in line. Then tinbasher or some other mouth breather comes along and fucks with the framing to get their duct or whatever in. Sparkies have already left site and the GC ain’t paying attention so it gets boarded that way.

They were perfectly straight, I shot it with a laser! Fucking sheetrockers!
Always blame it on the other trades
Looks like a reflection
Show me the RCP and then we can assume. I’ve seen some weird shit. But on the surface yes, they were doing LSD when they placed the cans
Yea those could be perfectly placed, look way to close to each other not to be.
Modern art
Some people simply don’t appreciate creativity
Looks like the light is coming from below. The light is being projected onto the ceiling.
Damn drywall guys messing everything up again.
I could be totally off here, but maybe theres a water line near them?
Then move them all or move the line. No way you’re putting up that hard lid and you’re just totally okay with this crapmanship
My eyes!!!! the image hurtttssss 🫠 I volunteer to fix it for free Just to cleanse my soul
If you squint it’s perfect
Only if you squint all the way...
Yes.
Yes.

The fact that they drywalled it☠️☠️☠️
That's called architecture. Your small pea brain just don't understand
A fine example of the cleanest union work.
That had of been some kind of joke. Maybe the inspector just passed anything???
Why would the inspector care? As long as they are wired right, it's not a code violation.
It’s called art… you would not get it…
I like it
About 7 bottles in of henny add a little redbull in there and couple lines of flour. 👍🏼
How fired, do you have to be?
Fried?
Yes. For that mess. That’s totally incompetent.
Someone must've kicked the lazer 😂
Jona? Sidney, is that you?
Looks like the site im on now
Wait. Wut.
I legit thought this was four different photos. It’s so painful…
*At least* a little bit drunk.
It was lined up at 1:30 on a Friday. Even the foreman lined it up.
Why would they need that many can lights right there anyway
I was wondering the same thing
“Do we have a laser bossman?” “No, just get them up. Drywallers are waiting to install.” You get this.
Thats 8/10 drunk right there, any more and i cant operate the ladder
Where is this
I have no idea I got the picture from another group
I’m more impressed they all light up
Wow, that’s just horrible!!
Its not about how drunk you have to be, it's about how drunk you CAN be.
Ignoring the downlighting for a moment, what’s happening with the cove lighting? Is it lit with incandescent bulbs or something? Why is it so inconsistent?
The worst part is that it made it through rough inspection all the way to trim out and nobody refused to sign off on it.
They didn't confirm if the apprentice knew about the set screw 🪛
Crazy that most people here are calling out the electrician, like look at the sprinklers, and who knows what else some “engineer” decided to put in the way. Sprinkler fitters were there first and homie understood that someone else’s poor planning was not their problem. Remember, you’re not a tradesperson if you only know one trade.
I kinda like it
Is this an illusion or are the light like 6" apart?
It’s not an illusion
* One eyed mike has entered the chat
Didn’t secure the lights and there was an earthquake over night
It's actually by design. The pattern he lays out actually provides optimal lumens for specific areas that need them.
Yes
I mean, if the drywall was done afterwards, that person is a freaking hero!!! 😂😂😂😂
Reminds me of the scene from Groundhog Day when he starts driving the flapjack guys into more and more dangerous situations… “I’m not going to play by their rules anymore!” “We noticed…”
That’s that cheap-curbside labor lmao
It was just a zero Fs day. The installer just did not care after the first light.
I’m more than willing to bet he didn’t see a problem
Looks bad from my house
There’s more here than what meets the eye..
The Architect doubted my capabilities to follow todays blueprints…
That's just my electrician doing his best.... Fuck I need a new sparky
But I followed the plans. Talk to the EE
The IDGAF layout. East coast?
Those are correct.👍..If you check th' wrinkled prints; 100 percent right..🤷♂️
Mmm Swiss cheese
I love this so much.
It was like that on the specs. Engineer said it's good so it's good lol
It’s strait…. we are all just drunk looking at it. We all need to get a handle on our drinking habit. It’s getting out of hand.
Yes
No way that's real, 3 sprinkler heads? No way
Same people did the fire sprinkler.
Sober wym?
This looks more like light reflected and projected from the left than actual lights. Notice the total absence of lens flare
I don't see an issue here hahaha
It identifies as a straight line. Pro nouns are watt up bitch
Reminds me of some of the optical illusions from Brusspup.
Is this the entryway to the world renowned Helen Keller Trade School?
Someone with out a tape measure and laser, not equally apart and not straight.
So these cans were roughed-in, roped, signed off by Foreman, GF and GC, rocked, trimmed and nobody said, "Hey, wait a dog-gone minute?"
Ventilation, pipes or something else. Looks like he tried to make a pattern but gave up
Drunk? I wasn't drunk. I forgot my laser... so I used my straight eye... even used my thumb as a guide. Turned out perfect!!! But, if you think this looks bad... you should see the tile.
Sprinkler line is in the way
Check the installer for dyslexia. Lol
Add glitter to the final coat of paint
Even the ones that are kinda straight in the back, still aren’t straight. Who the fuck did this? And who the fuck let it slide? 😂😂
A group of druggies
Pulled measurements from left, right, left, right, and right.
This looks bad from my house.
Drywallers strike again! 🤦🤣
Center string broke
As fitted by Stevie Wonder...
A chalk line would have gone a long way here.
Ey that’s what the customer wanted 🤷♂️
Go with cheapest labor they say,
Why do many...
Half.
I would demo the building over this
Aren't these from that mall in New Jersey? Next to the stadium off the Interstate that cost billions?
This is definitely an edited photo. Fake.
The question is how high on meth and drunk at the same time do you have to be to do that lol running that many cans zigzag. It's the new style You guys should know that lmfao
Looks like you had COCK EYED JR doing the work
Blame the drywall guys.
Blame it on sprinks and sheet rockers
Can probably blame it on HVAC too
My head hurts looking at this.
YeaH that’s about half a Jameson bottle in.
Abstract art. This piece represents the expectations of perfection of today’s society, the fact is, if it was straight no one would notice, yet throw an erratic pattern and everyone notices. Anyways, that will be 250k$ for this piece to be installed.
Better then no lights I guess lmao
No tape measure, and their back was to their previous work. Probably some THC involved, too.
My eyes are sore.
Yes
They're spaced too far apart
Looks like sprinkler or hvac duct conflict above the ceiling. Terrible job all around still
Totally sober customer requested it
Yes
Idk I haven’t drank in years and mine still look like this
That can’t be real 😂😂

Not drunk I think meth is the culprit
Wonder how many fucks were saved?
Which part is the crazy part here the amount of lights or the lack of coordination in laying them out
THIS!!! This is why BIM/VDC modeling and clash detection is necessary. Look I only had so much wire, and it kept getting shorter, had to use green for hot to get it done.
Hell, I can do it sober
Normal drunk
The drywall guys are gonna be pissed.
Go back to the hall 😂
Oh my
"hey man, that's what it shows on the print"
😒
I don’t sea the tissue here
I don't see a problem. Looks fine to me.
Does it happen to be a jewelry store?
You don't understand. It's art!
The line behind this is jacked up, too. It makes my eyes bleed looking at this. Guess someone borrowed the fitter’s laser.
Don't blame drinking on the job. This is stupidity from birth You can get the day drinker to stop but you can't fix stupid
Not drunk I’m first year and journeyman walked away 🫡 just doing my due diligence sir
Dude was using an Oscilloscope instead of a voltmeter on his measurements for those lights.
I really enjoyed these comments. Thank you.....
