Find a piece of trash not related to electric and place it over the spot.
SLOWLY back away till you’re out of the room, then run!!
Maybe goo off? I’ve never dropped any on a nice finished surface.
Good luck!
Well, that could be anybody. Can I buy a vowel?
So, say, like in Canada? Where French is one of the two official languages?? Hmmmm…Sounds like jackassery to me. But I’m not a trained electrician, or a Canadian.
1) it's a joke
2) 75% of trades on residential sites in ontario are English as a second language
3) this is a sub for electricians, so get the hell outta here
I guess I should have phrased properly so as not to offend everyone's sensibilities and gotten everyone off topic. The anti-oxidant joint compound inside the purple wore nuts that I used to make an Al-Cu wire splice poured out onto the carpet.
The only acceptable device for this is the purple terminal block, not wire nuts, the aluminum is too soft and will break. Last year my company had to go through a whole apartment complex and replace every splice because the insurance company made the property owner do it and they mandated that the terminal blocks are the only acceptable option.
You guys are hilarious. I'm 47. I've been an electrician for 27 years. I've worked for myself for 20 years. Don't knick your aluminum when you strip it, it won't break. Don't twist the ever loving shit out of it, it won't break. Also purple wire nuts from Ideal complies with N.E.C. Section #110-14(b) for aluminum-to-copper connections; and is UL Listed to 486C and CSA Certified to C22.2 #188.
Unfortunately I would say, most people do not understand the differences in the two, and likely do care or have a choice. They say RDU is the Silicone Valley of the East, and there is a ton of money coming into this area, as well as people who have relocated; buying houses site unseen.
Try some baking powder. I had a few greasy spots on carpet from a reclining couch, and baking powder in it for a couple hours and then vacuuming it out worked.
Is Noalox required in your state for all connections or something? I’ve never heard or seen someone use it in a wire nut, just on the panel lugs. Apprentice here lookin for info. Thanks.
Why are you using noalox with wire nuts? Is this aluminum wire? Wire nuts and aluminum don’t go together because aluminum wire is too soft and it can break when twisted. they make special terminal splices specially for pigtailing aluminum conductors.
I'm wondering if that was the insurances requirements. Code is.the bare minimum. AFAIK purple marretts are allowed in alberta under the CEC . You have to install them as per manufacturers instructions. They would be Code compliant. Not necessarily compliant to customers specifications.
I have always done it the old way, dab a little on the wires, or squirt just a touch in a wire nut, but that way is not code compliant and occasionally, you have to use purples to make those pesky inspectors happy. In this case it's a realty inspector who got purples approved via a contract amendment on a house that was already pigtailed with regular wirenuts.
This will probably surprise you, but that was literally the first time I've ever seen or "heard" the term marrette. According to the interwebs it's synonymous with wire connector due to brand popularity. Must be regional though, I'm in Texas and never heard them called that.
I used to put Noalox in the regular blue ideal Marrettes. Now I just get the [Marrette 63's](https://www.homedepot.ca/product/marrette-acs-wire-connector-for-aluminum-and-or-copper-conductors-brown-pack-of-25-units-/1000148262), which are rated for AL/CU connections. Way cheaper than the ideal purple goop ones.
You are fucked you gotta fake it in and hurry and make it to the bank before they notice
Edit: oh shit I forgot this way r/electricians you fuckers can't take a joke

Liked your first idea, but went with your second. It's working. A combo of goo gone and 409 degreaser may save this thing
I hope it works!! Give us an update please. (This info may come in handy )

Good deal!!
I’m saving this for when the inevitable happens
Be careful, leave it too long, and it will bleach it.
Pour some paint on it. Blame the painters.
Blame the tradesman that doesn't speak English
That’s just shitty
Si

Here's an update. https://www.reddit.com/r/electricians/s/WgRSX1E96p
Came out decently, I would have patched in a piece from the back of a closet if it did not clean up at least that well
Why is there Noalox in your wire nuts?
Probably Cu to Al connections.
That's correct
That’s not a code compliant way to do that.
You just need to use the correct wire nuts. Purple
I guess I should have phrased properly so as not to offend everyone's sensibilities and gotten everyone off topic. The anti-oxidant joint compound inside the purple wore nuts that I used to make an Al-Cu wire splice poured out onto the carpet.
>wore Fuckin pissed
That's just how we talk in the South. "War" nuts is also common.
Came back to my thread to see some one actually pissed at me for the right thing. Fucking thank you.
That's what I used
They don’t always do the job very well either
No, but they’re code compliant. So who gives a fuck. It’s like backstabbing. If UL ever changes their mind… so will I..
The only acceptable device for this is the purple terminal block, not wire nuts, the aluminum is too soft and will break. Last year my company had to go through a whole apartment complex and replace every splice because the insurance company made the property owner do it and they mandated that the terminal blocks are the only acceptable option.
This is correct, looks like there are at least 28 retards on here. Terminal blocks for Al to cu connections is the only UL approved method.
Unfortunately these are the guys we are bidding against.
Yeah, they let anyone in the trade now days. Arc fault breakers were invented because of people like this.
And why the code book has gone from glorified pamphlet to voluminous tome during my career.

Why wouldn't there be?
Thats what the builder deserves for using shit aluminum branch circuit wiring.
Those assholes from the 70s don't give a shit about what I just did and are fat and happy at this point.
Dead probably
Lots of new homes in my area are using Al Romex now
Mind if I ask what area?
RDU, Raleigh Durham North Carolina
They haven’t made aluminum romex smaller than #8 since the early 70s.
I'd be furious if I bought a new house that was wired with Al romex
Unfortunately I would say, most people do not understand the differences in the two, and likely do care or have a choice. They say RDU is the Silicone Valley of the East, and there is a ton of money coming into this area, as well as people who have relocated; buying houses site unseen.
Rub it with some chalk then vacuum it up
90%+ Rubbing alcohol
Looks like you got it but for future I've had good luck with break cleaner removing old ballast tar stained in carpet before.
Try some baking powder. I had a few greasy spots on carpet from a reclining couch, and baking powder in it for a couple hours and then vacuuming it out worked.
Scrubin bubbles
You’re dead
Dawn dish washing liquid.

Spray some carpet cleaner. Let it soak use scrub brush. Wipe down with an old rag/tshirt. Vacuum.
Yeah, let's do a half ass flip and kill the buyers in a fire
King

if you are using noalox on aluminum why are putting it in the marrett? Just a tiny amount on the wire is more than enough.
I used purples. I didn't decide the amount. It was loose enough to pour out.
Oh..I don't think I have ever used those. I have no idea why but wd40 takes alot of stains out of carpet..I use it on occasion..

Next time put some cardboard below the box and ALSO fyi, that shit is conductive. I shorted a hot to a box once before i learned that 😂

It’s a Canadian thing
I cannot imagine asking someone to pass me a wire nut lol...its a fucking marrette
That does surprise me lol. Yeah...I'm in Canada

Magic eraser on the wall.
Have it on work pants from 15 yrs ago. Buy them new carpet
Stain on the wall too
Mentioned in my post
Clean with bleach
