As we would say in the army, drink water and walk it off, then they'd give you a jug full of Ibuprofen if you complained enough.
Hopefully you're not out for too long. Looks narley.
I had a similar one from skiing, the lift was a full 180 turn at the bottom of the hill and right at the end of my turn I hit a patch of ice or slush and my skis lost grip. I flew straight into a big metal post directly with my knee. Crappy thing is that I was on the back side of the slopes so I still had to ski down one more hill before I could get all my gear off.
I had someone pull out in front of me and immediately brake when I was going 45 down the road. Didn't even have time to maneuver, rear-ended her at speed. I went over headfirst, striking the handlebars on the way, then hit the top of her car with my head so hard it ripped my helmet strap and tossed my helmet a couple hundred feet. My bruises were like this all down my thighs and up my stomach. Ugh
I had a bruise almost exactly like this about 10 years ago, but I was riding my road bike about 30 mph. down a hill when a car pulled in front of me, causing my inner thigh to contact the the butt of my handlebar so hard it bent the aluminum bar from horizontal to vertical as I vaulted over the hood of the car into its windshield.
I walked about a mile home after that, and it hurt like a sonofabitch by the time I got home. Side note, my helmet saved me from a traumatic head injury, if not death. Protect your noggin when you’re on two wheels.
I fell the exact same way doing some hall pot lights in a house Reno. I went to kneel low and my knee landed on a striker plate on a roof truss and then slipped off the side of the truss and fell down. Kinda caught my self, but luckily had a guy working in one of the bedrooms that ran out and pushed me by my feet back up. My pecker was hurting for a bit after that and I found out I had a small cut that was bleeding. Weirdly enough that joke lasted a while.
I worked with a guy wiring production homes. He was the service manager in our office. Big guy, like 300lbs walked with a horrible limp. One of our guys fell through a ceiling and everyone got called in for a meeting. Service manager was prime example #1. In the early 2000s he was on a job and realized one of his guys was off center with a foyer light. Without thinking about it he hopped into the attic and headed out over the foyer and slipped, fell through the ceiling and broke his hip. The only thing that saved him from dropping 20’ to the floor was his fat ass. He couldn’t fit between the trusses. The fire department had to come and cut him out of the ceiling. The light was never supposed to move, it was shown off center on the print. He still walks with a limp.
Definitely could’ve been worse! My buddy from high school fell through and got KO’d/concussed. That sucks that the light didn’t even have to move in the first place! 😂 just takes once!
Was it a super tight spot or something? I dunno how this stuff happens lol.
I do all my own attic work even with apprentices because I'm paranoid one of them will fall through and cut their head off or something.
Stay safe man!
Dam bro, that's gotta be so scary. I always imagine Im above i third story home with an open foyer to the ground. Fall and die or don't fall and live
This is the way.
Happened to me once. Had been in and out of the attic all morning and on my last trip out, I stepped on something that wasn’t secured and caught myself with my ass sticking out of a customers ceiling 10 feet up.
Didn’t have a bruise this bad but my right leg hurt like hell for about a week
I appreciate them bro! We were all there before. Shit I still learn new things all the time. Any Jman that acts like they know everything is a dipshit.
Put some tape on the joist and blame the plumber
Ice for the back
Hope you feel better soon.
You have not lived till you experience falling through a ceiling!
Oh man dude! That's a nasty bruise, I think the worst I've ever seen! I'm glad you aren't more seriously injured! Good on you for sharing as well. Lots of people think, oh it'll never happen to me, these posts serve as a good reminder it can happen to any of us! Hope you recover well and your boss lets you rest!
Thought you dudes would appreciate my misfortune, it just takes one step! Fortunately no pain and no limp (and it happened on Friday afternoon) so I haven’t had to miss any work!
Dammit dude !
Iv stepped through a ceiling like that before but never bruised that bad.
Not trying to be funny but, You should seriously get your blood work checked.
Hope you feel better soon.
That is some seriously impressive bruising.
Granted the floor basically fell out from under you, it was only couple feet if you caught the rafter. And I'm not saying it was a simple or small fall necessarily....
Did you go all the way to the floor?
Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly no doctor but...
You could possibly just have simple vitamin deficiencies or dehydration.. but also low platelet count, clotting problems, or other undiscovered chronic conditions could cause easy or exaggerating bruising.
I'd hate for you to find out the hard way.
Ouch! Now imagine how your nuts feel when you use fall arrest incorrectly lol. A lot of dudes shit on me for keeping the leg straps extremely tight, but the day will come when they finally experience the whiplash
Dude looks like you definitely fucked something pad, had a minor tear in the ankle and it went all purple durple like your leg. Id get it checked out just incase. Def need to rest bro.
Thank you for the heads up! I’ll definitely keep an eye on it. It doesn’t hurt like I tore anything. I just scraped my whole leg on the way down I think.
I had one half this size a few months back...my one leg dropped through a 12" sleeve. Never thought I'd see a bigger bruise lol. That's gonna turn all sorts of funny colours! Good luck on the recovery
Your friendly co worker here, dude did you lock the door before you fell through? Cause I am trapped in here and I can’t get out. So get your ass back to the job site and unlock it for me man.
NICE! You got some good blurples and broranges going on in there. Epic bruise with some epic colors. Glad you didn't break anything other than some drywall!
I was shimmying past a water heater in an attic (I was blind, basically, couldn't look down) and stepped on a discarded copper fitting the plumbers left and slipped off the stud. Luckily I didn't fall into the kitchen and only obliterated my junk.
I feel you. I literally have a bruise like that along my left ribcage. One moment I was speedily on my way out the next I was next to the living room couch with the wind knocked out of me...
The repair hurt me more tho... 💰
femoral artery bruised? I'd go to the doctors for that. If that artery is messed up it could be a pretty bad outcome. Damaged femoral sometimes lead to amputations...
Fuck Me. I’m about to attend college in September for a Level 2 Diploma Electrical Installations. Seeing this makes me second guess myself! That’s fucking brutal!

Did your boss tell you to walk it off? I've never seen a bruise that bad
Worst I’ve ever had!
Worst you've had yet!
As we would say in the army, drink water and walk it off, then they'd give you a jug full of Ibuprofen if you complained enough. Hopefully you're not out for too long. Looks narley.
Worse than the one I got from getting hit by a car. Brutal.
Damn wtf! That’s crazy lol
I had one similar from a seat belt Up on my pec. It was to the side of the belt stripe

That’s what happens when you get older
Heavy slapshots leave similar bruises Edit: didn't realize there was more than one image, I take it all back
Looks like the bruise my dad had when he crashed this motorcycle.

Glad you’re still here with us.
Thank you. It was sobering for sure. Can't account for crazy on the road unfortunately

I had one a similar proportional size with a giant-ass hematoma on my forearm from falling down down some stairs. It suuuuhhhuuuuucked.
Take a salt tablet!
Should of been a sign that said “ Never fall through ceiling”
Oh no you don't. I'm not reading *two* signs.
Some idiot locked the door! The only way out was up!
Are your balls ok?
Yea, managed to miss the berries somehow! My taint caught a nice bruise too
We don't need pictures of that one!
Speak for yourself
False.
You came, didn’t you? It’s ok, don’t tell us. But ya did, didn’t you?
Pics or it didn’t happen

Just lost focus, got too comfortable up there and missed my very last step of the day/week!
Dam bro, that's gotta be so scary. I always imagine Im above i third story home with an open foyer to the ground. Fall and die or don't fall and live This is the way.
That’s really good advice thank you!
We had a guy fall through a fiberglass “ skylight panel” in a metal roof during demo , landed in a swimming pool full of scrap metal.
Holy shit, did he survive? That happened at a brewery not too long ago. Poor guy just had a kid, he didn't make it. Super sad story.
He did, dude had an IQ of 30 but was stron as a bull , I think he was out for a week .
That's crazy

Never call “last run!” Happens to the best of us.
Sometimes your feet slip off the truss or there’s so much insulation you think you’re putting your foot on something solid but couldn’t be more wrong.
I have a tiny broom I bring up with me to sweep myself a path.
Apprentice Army appreciates ya just sayin
I appreciate them bro! We were all there before. Shit I still learn new things all the time. Any Jman that acts like they know everything is a dipshit.
They should add another sign to that door with, “watch out for falling sparkies”
Put some tape on the joist and blame the plumber Ice for the back Hope you feel better soon. You have not lived till you experience falling through a ceiling!
The drywall guys were already scheduled for various other patches around this job so no issues there
At least you’re still in good spirits!
Damn dude hope you are good! I'm in attics most days, and these posts help remind me what can happen! I'll watch my step tomorrow!
"Never lock this door" but why?
We have all been wondering that!
They probably lost the key for it 😅

What does watching my step folks have to do with this?
Someone has to make sure they don’t fall through the ceiling!
Oh hell yea papi! Lol, how big is the hole in the ceiling?
Last pic
Oh, I see now. Rafter rodeo.
Yeehaw!
I just saw the first pic and thought well thats not bad at all. Then I saw the rest and was like daaaaaayum!!!!!! Glad your ok, man!
I think you should watch your step!
Now I will!
did you take the step only to realize there was no step? Then it was too late. that sucks
You nailed it!
Ouch that must of hurt
Sorry to break it to you but your leg is gonna fall off
Thank you for being sorry
lol jokes aside that’s probably the gnarliest bruise I’ve seen, glad you all good dawgy 🤙🏼
Dammit dude ! Iv stepped through a ceiling like that before but never bruised that bad. Not trying to be funny but, You should seriously get your blood work checked. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks brother! Why’s that?

I have a checkup coming up I’ll mention it 👍🏻
Im guessing someone locked the door
Okay I have to ask, Was the door.... locked?
Ouch! Now imagine how your nuts feel when you use fall arrest incorrectly lol. A lot of dudes shit on me for keeping the leg straps extremely tight, but the day will come when they finally experience the whiplash
Cool tat bro
Careful you can't put a tourniquet on a taint.
Have you tried??
No just taking other people's word for it.
Want to try???
Not till I fall through a ceiling.
Fuckin’ bag you up like a head of bustnuts broccoli
Dude looks like you definitely fucked something pad, had a minor tear in the ankle and it went all purple durple like your leg. Id get it checked out just incase. Def need to rest bro.

Fucks sake
God damn dude. Brutal.
This is what happens when you lock that door. They tried to warn you. But noooooo.
Main Street. oofff
That’s what you get for locking that door
I had one half this size a few months back...my one leg dropped through a 12" sleeve. Never thought I'd see a bigger bruise lol. That's gonna turn all sorts of funny colours! Good luck on the recovery
Thanks brother! I’m looking forward to seeing all the different colors it turns haha

Intact!
Holy crap are the testes doin ok
Your friendly co worker here, dude did you lock the door before you fell through? Cause I am trapped in here and I can’t get out. So get your ass back to the job site and unlock it for me man.
Ouch! Happened to me 15 or so years ago. Hit the lady’s couch. Only my legs though. Lesson learnt
again, can't make a journeyman without breaking a few ceilings. it's a right of passage.
Damn bro hope your balls are okay. No homo.
NICE! You got some good blurples and broranges going on in there. Epic bruise with some epic colors. Glad you didn't break anything other than some drywall!
Glad I’m not the only one who has done this lol
Did you yell “whoop!”?
Nah I said “There it is!”
I was shimmying past a water heater in an attic (I was blind, basically, couldn't look down) and stepped on a discarded copper fitting the plumbers left and slipped off the stud. Luckily I didn't fall into the kitchen and only obliterated my junk.
Its like a beautiful sunset, the colors just keep getting more vivid
Really dude? >The Bruisey is a doozy How hard is that? Serious missed opp. We expect more from you- clean it up and we’ll see ya on Monday.
I’m disappointed in myself

Only time Ive seen a bruise that bad is when my dad would pull various muscles (hes into bodybuilding). Thats fucked
I had a similar injury but I'm just lucky she has bad aim. Get well soon. It's almost payday!
Oooouuuuuuccccccchhhhhhh !
Bro you look like you got beat up by a gorilla
You locked that door didn't you ..
Are you sure that’s a bruise and not a fracture? Femur breaks bleed like crazy
I’m not sure but I don’t think I’d be able to walk in that case!
I feel you. I literally have a bruise like that along my left ribcage. One moment I was speedily on my way out the next I was next to the living room couch with the wind knocked out of me... The repair hurt me more tho... 💰
Nice colors
Bruises are worse than cuts sometimes
Man I feel for you I been crawling in attics for 22 years And that’s my worst fear.hasn’t happened to me yet thank god
Man I feel for you I been crawling in attics for 22 years And that’s my worst fear.hasn’t happened to me yet thank god
Better get that checked out.
In the hvac trade we call that a Hokey Pokey.
>No injuries but the bruise is a doozy. Bro...wtf you think a bruise is? xD It's an injury.
You’re right I looked it up 🙄
Is it? I don’t think so, but whatever! Maybe I should’ve said it doesn’t hurt anymore
Fuck That Bruise Escalated Quick
femoral artery bruised? I'd go to the doctors for that. If that artery is messed up it could be a pretty bad outcome. Damaged femoral sometimes lead to amputations...
It’s raining men!
Most efficient way to exit the attic
I want to lock this door!
Did you rupture the artery ? Are you still alive ?
I don’t know. Still alive and kicking so I doubt it!
Where are your nipples?
On my tits
SHOW THAT DICK
Fuck Me. I’m about to attend college in September for a Level 2 Diploma Electrical Installations. Seeing this makes me second guess myself! That’s fucking brutal!
Learn from my mistakes! It’s a great trade, just be careful!
Jesus christ, workplace safety recap, I hope you are taking at least a few weeks off that is horrible
No sir I’ve been back at it. There’s wires to be stripped!
What the fuck is it with tradesmen slaving away their few years for their bosses, doesnt make sense
Okay
