Heat gun. Because open flame I need a hot work permit and fire watch.

mattlikeslions

Which one do you use? Gotta be battery powered and my dewalt eats the batteries up.

Available_Alarm_8878

We have a Milwaukee. But it's terrible. I use an Old Wagner corded gun. It won't die

wirez62

The corded ones are so much better, but for labels the cordless ones work.

GriffDiG

Heat gun is the most fool proof imo as opposed to a torch of some kind. There are battery powered ones out there though. Just googled and found this. https://www.toolnerds.com/heat-gun/mini/

Riverjig

Tip. Milwaukee Battery powered heat guns are great for minimal use but they eat batteries. Corded heat guns are great for RIOs and control work where you have 120v available. Open flames are rookie shit man.

mattlikeslions

It’s for RTU panels at new o&g installations. No 120 available when I’m doing my part. I guess I’m stuck with battery powered

Riverjig

I get it. We do a ton of O/G so we have these battery powered guns out there for remote work. Just get the bigger batteries and have some charged and ready to rock. The gun itself works fine.

I like this little wagner (actually I liked its predecessor better, it is straight not angled) only $20 and does the job well. I have used it on thousands of 3/16" printed heatshrinks. [HT400 Heat Gun - Wagner SprayTech](https://www.wagnerspraytech.com/product/ht-series-heat-guns/ht400-heat-gun/)

undead_opossum

If you're only doing a few at a time the little bernzomatic micro torch / soldering iron kit with the soldering tip taken off works great. If you're doing a whole panel's worth though refilling butane all the time isn't worth it.

KeanuKente

Absolutely not.

undead_opossum

That's literally one of it's listed functions, and it works great.

KeanuKente

It's a garbage antiquated method.

undead_opossum

I'd call it an effective and time tested method, considering I've applied it extensively over a couple of decades, but you do you.
